Plus, hearing "**********" is often a great way to start a conversation.

*snerk*

By the way, racer-boy, looks like there are some kart tracks in-and-about the area. Contact your NAFO Off Site Coordinator, fjrchik. Bring your Nomex... you're gonna need it. ;)
Money talks....I forget the rest.

Ha! That's a name I can get behind. I'm willing to pitch in for the creation of the silky sash denoting the above title, mostly because I'll be taking it east.

Any silkscreeners on the Forum looking for some bidness?

I'll certainly be posting in the ride planning areas once I have the full itinerary in case anyone wishes to join me for a days riding. Also suggestions on special roads, lunch stops etc would be gratefully received.

Highway 89 from Sedona to the Prescott Valley is a must ride. Sorry about the AZ hijack.

I will be at NAFO in '08! I missed WFO this year and it won't happen again!!

Rockbill,

Is 89 what they call Oak Creek Canyon?

Golden is the perfect location for a rally ! ! ! ! Great job everyone on the organizing committee.
From Golden you can access the mountains from each direction, it is the perfect location.

I am a local to the area and have traveled many of the Colorado highways. I would be happy to help in any of the ride planning.

I went to WFO last year for my first FJR event and I am hooked.

I am planning on doing the IBA ride this year and can help in any planning that you need for that as well.

Colorado is the micro beer capitol of the country and there are many places for you to let your taste buds explore . . .

Some of the attractions that you might want to take in while you are out here:

* White Water Rafting (not far up the road near Idaho Springs)

* Hot Springs (Idaha Springs again for the closest, but get farther away and you will have many options)

* Alligator Farm ! (Yes, Colorado has an Alligator farm near Alamosa, CO. The gators stay alive since they live in the hot springs year round: Gator_Farm Also, the Sand Dune National Park is right next door - Great Day trip ! ! !

* Mountain Bike riding - very nice place near Winter Park where you can rent bikes, go up the green trails and come flying down the black diamonds

* Lake City/Ouray/Telluride Mountain Range - The best place to ride in Colorado - Million Dollar Highway, the amazing roads near Lake City and Telluride

* Go Cart Racing - Yes not too far from Golden

* 4x4 Jeep and ATV riding - There are plenty of places to rent and ride - an amazing way to explore Colorado

* Mt . Evans - The highest paved highway in the country - Mt. Evans

* Royal Gorge - Ride your motorcycle 1053 feet above the Arkansas River, or ride the train below through the canyon, or helicoptor trip above it

* Colorado Springs - Cave of the Winds, Garden of the Gods and 7 Falls, Air Force Academy, Pikes Peak and Norad

* Winter Park Ski Train - Train that travels from Denver to Winter Park each day and back

* Durango/ Silverton Train - This is the best train ride you might ever experience

* Ride up to a remote area and rent a cabin near the lake for a night in the wilderness (Steamboat Springs for example)

As you might be able to tell, my wife and I love Colorado and would not live anywhere other than here (everyone gets to choose where they want to live in the world and this is our choice for the obvious reasons - The Rocky Mountains ! ! ! ! )

We are looking forward to everyone joining us in Colorado ! ! ! !

Mt. Evans looks real interesting.

I'm out for this session. Unlike this last one, it's for a good reason, sort of. I'll either be crossing over from single role fire paramedic to firefighter paramedic or taking a promotion to officer. Hopefully one or the other happens soon, this way I can work job #'s 2&3 long enough to pay off a home equity loan and purchase my FJR's stablemate, a R1200 GS Adventure. Either way my year's shot until this frickin loan gets paid :glare: .

At least I'm not out a few hundred because of no motorcycle this time. I'll gladly trade a year(2008) for good reason as opposed to the year I lost for ****** ones(2007). As long as I stay out of er's I'll probably triple or quadruple the mileage I put on this year.

Besides, most of you will forget about my "hilarious" thread by then :p

Well, as it stands now, I am taking the month of July off for my dream ride to everywhere/nowhere a la Wild Hogs without the gay parts :p

So I look at the July forum Calendar to see what might be up besides NAFO and  surprise! NAFO isn't on it. I'll put it on the calendar if members are allowed and somebody tells me how, otherwise maybe an admin?

Basically this is just a BUMP...

I just put it on! :yahoo: Simple...I just followed the instructions at the bottom of the page....

(Prolly...everyone assumes that everyone else knows about it so it never crossed their minds to add it to the calendar. One would think "El Jeffe" would include that on his loooong list of things-to-do!?!?!?!?) ;)

Prolly like I paid attention to the instructions on the calendar page.........that was a bit embarrassing!

I have a few days off in 2008 and might be able to squeeze in this trip. Maybe I can even get a couple of other Canadians to join the ride. Eh? What do you think Canucks?? We can make a week of it.

If'n youse guys don't show, it won't be NAFO (North American FJR Owners). Or International....

Rob, there are some that are already planning the trip. Bearly Flying is part of the "Security/Parking-Nazi Brute Squad".

Hey I have a buddy who has no freinds cause he rides a FZ1 but would like to go. Can he or would he be like a Outcast?
He'd be welcomed. The General Rule: Has or is interested in an FJR.

At every FJR Owners gathering we've had other riding friends come in with FJR owners. The intent is that it IS an FJR gathering, however those who organize the event understand that many owners use this as a vacation ride with friends who have bikes of other styles and brands.

I think if this were to turn into an "open" event (i.e., sport-tourers of any brand) with people riding in who are not aligned with an FJR owner, that might be frowned on as the rooms/facilities are usually reserved and booked for our event.

No, he can't attend. We're a bunch of self-centered, drunken, obnoxious, ***-hats that use sarcasm as a crutch to compensate for our own personal inadequacies. The last thing we need at NAFO is some show off on his FZ1 with his "Sportier than thou" attitude. Tell him to go to the FZ1 gathering!

:D :p :derisive:

See and I thought it would be funnier to see him after the 800 mile ride on his not quite Sport Bike. Now When he had the Buel he looked like a Circus Monkey on a Bicycle. That was good times!

That's OK...a friend of mine owns several bikes, one of which is a PURPLE Buell. He pulled into Wal-Mart a while back and some trailer trash meth-head dude said, "Oh look, the circus is in town".

Good times.
