Mono Lake from Conway Pass overlook on hwy 395 .

Real solid chance I'll be riding that Sunday on the S10 ahead of a bit of weather coming in Sunday night on my way to Death Valley.

BTW Hwy 120 EAST of 395 to Benton is in my top 5 MC roads, it runs on south side of the lake.
Correct!! You made quick work of Mono Lake to my surprise. Here's a better pic of the highly alkaline lake. If you want more images, you can watch Clint Eastwood's High Plains Drifter or check out Pink Floyd's inner sleeve of Wish You Were Here. I'm a big Pink Floyd fan so that part was pretty cool to me.

Bugnatr, I'm envious that you'll be riding 395 this weekend. If things go well I may be taking the MT10 on it's first overnight ride tomorrow into East TN. It remains to be seen if I know my limits on the twisties on this new bike.

Anyway, you are up, if you choose.

Goodman, save your MT10 limits for the track.

Mono Lake is the  most mysterious place I know off and one of my favorite places on the planet. The water color changes from shades of blue to green and everything between, it's never the same   The more I explore the area around the lake the more I find. This lake was born of volcanic activity and is still a very systemic area.

A few years back my wife and I did a road trip down to Death Valley and Vegas. On the way we went to the Tufas (Lava tubes/ vents) formed underwater a loooong time ago on the south shore.

Okay next picture

My 04 is long gone since Bambi attacked but this was my first rocket garden found by surprise on my way to a rally. It's not far from a prior meeting point of the most high tech transportation of the day.

That is the space shuttle booster rocket.

Well Dougie, I've seen the Saturn rocket at Houston, and it don't look like that.

So, I'm gonna guess Huntsville, Alabama?

ATK Thiokol rocket display.  Northern Utah.  Near Golden Spike National Historic Site.

When you mentioned Blazing Saddles, I was looking for Rock Ridge.

25 miles west of Brigham City according to Google.

Yes Ross, I had to look up 1911’ s reference as I forgot that was in the movie.  I was on my way to a rally in Wyoming and wanted to stop at the location of Golden Spike-American history and all. As I dropped down on 83 from the north I came across this complex of rocket building buildings. The place is sprawling as assembly buildings are spaced over great distances for miles and miles so the don’t all blow up at once.  They built and tested the booster there. Across from the the rocket garden is the original transcontinental rail road bed. Well worth a visit to the garden, the golden spike location is nothing real exciting. All yours Ross

Makes me want to fire up my Blazing Sadles DVD
One of my most favorite movies.  Couldn't get made today because of "racism" and political "correctness" concerns.

This film was the most anti-racist one I have seen - not to mention one of the funniest.  I think Mel Brooks is the only major cast member still alive.

Ross, there are a lot of canyons out there. I was thinking Colorado or Utah initially, but the trees might indicate farther west. I can even see how it could be in AL as 1911 has guessed. I'm waiting for the next hint...

OK, Another picture...

Idea here is to show some worthwhile places to see and have a little fun.  Not being deliberately difficult.  I have a nice clue for tomorrow if nobody has figured it out.

One of the things I like about this is wondering whether a pic is a different angle of a place I've been to that I don't recognize. So far, I'm betting I haven't been to this location.
