Hotel is booked!
Room booked.
Holy cow, Cota95 sure knows how to get the job done, Geezer is just a duffer taking one room.

The 'beams room is booked.
That's true, you folks all have come to me!
That's OK with me, as long as I get a comfy place to sleep.

Having attended the first two NERDS, I am happy to see this event being rebooted!

Hard to say for sure if we can make it, but I doubt it. The current job just doesn't have as much vacation as my old job.

O.k. is there another way around loading the GPX files other than using a dropbox method?
Dave
Why? Are you unable to download the files from dropbox?

When you click on the link there should be a button to request to download the file to your hard drive. From there you can mistreat it as normal.

When I click the download button it is asking me to sign in. I tried it in firefox and the same thing happens.

Yes, you must have a Dropbox login to download. Send me a PM and an email address, and I'll email the GPX files.

They downloaded to my MacBook as "NERDS'13.gpx.txt", which I think will be OK.

Sorry about that, that should not be the case. I'm sharing files with other people on ADVriders via DropBox and they do not have to have accounts. Maybe I have the settings messed up on the files? I'll check into it and get back to you all.

Yes, just change the file extension back from ".txt" to what it should be and they will work fine.

FWIW you can get an account on dropbox for free. I am using a free account to share the files.

OK, I believe that I've determined what's going on now. Seems Dropbox has added a little harmless self promotion to the file access.

Note: You do not have to open a DropBox account to download any of these files.

When you first click on one of the GPS file links it will open a full page with the option to "Download" or "Save to my Dropbox". Click on "Download".

This will pop up a new (spam) window requesting you to create a new account or log in. Just close this window by clicking the X in the upper right corner.

Another window will open with the options to "Download" or "Save to my Dropbox" but also has add a comment option on the right side. Click on "Download" again. You should get the familiar Windoze "Open With / Save File" pop up window.

I believe that, once you have opted out of the spam window once it won't send you there again for any of the other files.

Please try this workaround and let me know if this does or doesn't work for you and I'll add these instructions to the first post..

Just a little early spring bump to the top for this thread as a reminder for anyone thinking that they may want to attend this groovy event, make your reservations at the Commodores Inn ASAP. They will be looking at freeing up the rest of the room block sometime soon, and I'd hate for anyone to miss out.

I see that there are good number of reservations made already (40 people and 24 rooms) so its' going to be a nice group of FJR friends to hang out with that weekend and enjoy everything that the Stowe Vermont area has to offer.

Remember, the cancellation policy allows that you can cancel your room up to 3 days before your scheduled arrival and there is no penalty. I do not think that they are even taking any deposits on your credit card, though they will of course ask you for the number from a valid card. So why procrastinate any longer?

All of the important details are in the first post of this thread.

All right, after a lot of procrastination, I'm in! :) reservation is made! Hopefully this one doesn't fall through like my other plans have!

Glad to see this thread bumped again!

Husband's company said no go on the vacation bid, but we got lucky and the senior guy who beat him out for the week was just planning a staycation with his wife. He was happy to swap weeks, so for better or worse , we'll both see you all in August.

Time is drawing near. We currently have 41 people saying they'll be there, and taking only 26 rooms. I blocked out 45 room based on past attendance, but I'm releasing all but a small few.

I warned people in the most congenial way that if you want a room you need to reserve it NOW!. If you snooze you lose and you have nobody to blame but yourself . I can not and will not screw over the establishment that has treated us so well over the years.
