I so want to do this since I'v never been to the NE.
It would be a nice introduction to the area. New England 101. Would also probably make a for a decent Saddle Sore getting there if time was an issue and you needed to stay on slab.
I agree it will be a good intro. Won't do the ss1k since I've been there, done that. I'll take 2 days to get there and back so I can stay off of slab where it is scenic (not central IN and OH!)
Better way to go for sure if you can. Too many nice secondary roads to enjoy and you could easily lose a day in the Adirondacks alone.
Allen, CNY is on your way!?... maybe a perfect halfway sleepy stop for you?.

Thurs AM- I'm sure we'll do the romp thru the 'Dacks hitting Tracey Rd. before trouncing over the Grosse Pt bridge and into VT, which then takes the App Gap en-route up to Stowe.

Thinking the same plans may be in order. :)
Sounds like a great idea! Where is a clean inexpensive place to stay in CNY?

A few of the NERDS ride routes end up over in the 'dacks, and they all seem to end up on "T**** Road" , aka County Road 6, for some reason. It doesn't get too much scrutiny by the constabulary yet, so the locals encourage riders not to publicize it too much.

I've got many-many, and, a weekday would be cheap! Or, if you want the least expensive, well that would be my house. I may even setup the the 5th wheeler again. I'll have to see if Wine Guy and 'Fitter etc. show any interest in doing this again.

They still have my booking amount incorrect. Here's my confirmation email:

Dear KJ Miller:

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Commodores Inn. This letter is to
confirm your reservation arriving on Thursday, August 18, 2016 and checking
out on Sunday, August 21, 2016 a total of 3 night(s).

We have you staying in 1 room(s) which has One King Bed. The total stay for
1 adults and 0 children, including tax will be $383.58. You have made a
deposit of 0.00, which will be deducted from your Total Stay at check in.
According to our blocked rate, 1 person w breakfast and taxes (thurs) = 97.18, then Fri & Sat {2x} 123.56 = 247.12

3 nites then should be $344.30 (not 383.58)

You can fire them back an email to that effect or wait and straighten it out later. I guess that is the hazard of jumping the gun to get the King room. ;)

There was some confusion when I talked with valerie last night. Something about it needed to be fixed and she didn't know how to do it. I wouldn't worry about it to much. At least I didn't. There's a lot of time between then and now.

I returned the email with my "kindly" stated corrections. I'd like to get it straightened out now, more-so for our future bookers, which hopefully will save them this hassle.

BOOKED!

Staying at Commodores on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Talked to Kelsey, she seemed to have the correct group prices on the rooms for the Event. Looking forward to riding again in Vermont! Woo Hoo!

You trying to Gina switched onto one of those beemers now , Petey?
Fred, you'd be surprised how much of a chick magnet my bike was at EOM, and Gina was one of the chicks. JSNS
And if you look at the second picture hubby posted, you can make out the reflection of another female rider (from NY) who was waiting for her turn to throw a leg over. I think there were at least two others in line behind her..,, yup! A chic magnet!

The only negative about that bike right now is the price tag. It would put the family bank balance deep into negative territory.

Oh, and we made reservations last night as well, but we also went with the Fred W. "book the two queens and invite the offspring" plan.

Regarding the rate confusion, I'm sure that all the rates will be correct when it is important (when you are checking out!)

But I'll mention it to Carrie (the owner) to be sure.

@KJ, I just realized that you are booking the "single" rate? Huh? Isn't Debbie going to be coming along to NERDS to share that king sized bed? (We kind of need her around to keep you in check. ;) )

@Gina - Just don't fall for Petey's story about coming up to his room to check out his BMW etchings. He's sly that way... ;)

Double occupancy doesn't mean two people,

it means two parties. ( No, not that kind. Lol )

A king room assumes up to two people.

A double queen room with two couples would be double

occupancy. Same room with one couple is single occupancy.

Don't pay more than you have to.

Fred, you thought this was going to be an easy one!??!!

According to the hotel's website, double occupancy is defined as "two adults staying in the same room." So unless KJ is sleeping alone in that big king bed, double occupancy rates will apply.

And if you're paying the double rate but have more than two adults, it's another $10 per person over age 13 per night.

No, for this hotel that definition is definitely NOT true. Their single is not double occupancy. It's single occupancy.

As Gina said, the single rate is only for one person in a room, and the double rate applies for any two people sharing a room, regardless of if they are a "couple" or not. They will also give you a triple or quad rate, if you want to stack more people in your room, just adding an amount for each breakfast.

The primary reason the rate is more with each person is because the full country breakfast buffet is included. It is NOT a FCB (Free Continent Breakfast) like you get at Motel 6.

Fred has it right. You pay for the room and you pay extra for each person to cover the breakfast. It is a very good breakfast.

Deb has come on the last 5 trips, so, I was thinking some 1-up riding for a change.

After reading the additional statements^^ "IF" she does come, she never eats breakfast anyways, evah!. An energy drink in the room is her b-fast, but in any form, I'm planning stag (I think?)

This trip is on my radar. As always need to pick the right time to put it out there. Booking the room just to have that base covered.

Smart move Dean, hope you can smoozhe it in. Also, we're on your way, so a pickup here for our romp thru the 'dacks will be in order.

Thanks KJ!! I will definitely try to work that in!!

Just a thought, since I've never been to Maine I'm tossing the idea around in my head for a RTE seafood run while we're there. I'll scope out what options that would be doable. If there are any ME people who could recommend a good place to get your seafood on please send them my way. Diners DriveIns and dives made a stop in Kittery ME and see mix reviews for the place. I'd like to hear about places the locals go to the most.
