Here is a link to the route in "KML" format: Clam_Chowder_ride.kml
When I download this it's an XML format. Am I doing something wrong??
Yes, this is an xml format file, but the name should be Clam_Chowder_ride.kml.

If you just right click the link, then save it to you hard drive, you can open the file up in Google Earth

(*.kml files should already be associated with Google Earth if you already have it installed)

OK, at the risk of being the boy who cried wolf, let's try this route sharing thing again. This time I think I've got something that will work for everyone, even those without Mapsource.

Right click and save the file somewhere on your hard drive.

If you already have Google Earth loaded on your PC (highly recommended) then this kml file will auto open in that.

If you want to try Google Earth (it's FREE), it can be downloaded here: Download Google Earth

If you don't have Google Earth (and don't want it), I have imported the above kml file into Google Maps, but it does not display nearly as fancy. The main problem with a route this size is that Google Maps can't display all of the route at once. You can access my saved Google Map file here: Google Map of Clam Chowder Ride
Fred, did you change anything in this edition? I was successful with the earlier file and have added my own stuff.

No, no changes. This is just in a different format so people without Mapsource can have a preview of the routes.

Everyone must be out riding, 5 days and not one comment on this ride.

Too much GPS crapola for me. I thought there were only 2 roads in Maine: 95 down and 1 up. How hard can it be?!

And no riding for me this week - unless you count boogie boards. Hmmm....are there boogie boards in Cuba ?

You can always rent one. That's my plan for the next trip down there. Either way, enjoy. Have a Cohiba Robusto for me.

Scottie - I"m not touching those bad boys unless I can take a bronchoscope with me :p

I WILL, however, bring back some if you like (since I"m going to see you in a few weeks and there's always CFR...) And if I have enough pesos. Are they spendy?

LET ME KNOW!

So .... my riding buddy from Long Island NY (transplant from Maine) will be joining us for the ride (sorry to say on his BMW R1150 RT) He will inspect FJR tail & brake lights on a regular basis, he has no handle/user-name so for now we'll refer to him as Roberto (explanations over cocktails).

He's a heap of fun, has an infectious laugh and can sorta drive you crazy with conversation, if the latter is the case, have him check your rear lights regularly.

We will be staying @ my place Friday PM and probably @ the Villager in Bar Harbor Saturday night (closer to town, and when walking my knees/legs need all the relief they can get)

Anyone needing local info (Yarmouth/Freeport area) PM me & I'll help all I can!
