Holding dry thoughts.

I just got off the phone with Skyway. Vectorvp1 had just ridden up the driveway. We are riding unless its raining. He'll be calling all who he has phone numbers for it it is ominous in Sonora.

Bluestreek and I will be at the Dennys on Elk Grove Blvd. @ 0530-0545, kickstands up @ 0630 or so. :yahoo:

Denny's? Don't forget to add preload! :D

Safe ride folks! I'll be thinking of you all riding SAFELY!!!!! as my contractor just finished the upstairs bath today and now I get to clean up the sheetrock dust buried in every corner of the house for the weekend... :(

I'm heading down 49 to Jamestown and any rain drops had damn well get out of my way. I just wish Catherine would stop that rain dance.

TWN,

I feel for ya buddy. I'll be thinkin about ya tomorrow.

Well for all the raindancing going on in this thread, the weather turned out to be PERFECT for the 8 riders who showed up.

Nice dry roads and all the sand was gone due to the recent rains. 169 miles on the GPS later back at the meet point and everyone survived Hwy49, woohoo!!

Vectervp1 headed south after lunch for the poultry 650 or so miles home, sheesh what a lightweight!

Not many piccis on this run, but here's what I snapped.

Here's where we stopped in 'Horny Toads', well thats the name my GPS gave it. :D

Vista spot on Hwy49, stopped to give some Harleys in front some time to unclog the highway.

I guess there must have been a hockey game or something...

Glad you guys got to have some fun. As fate would have it, I didn't even have to work today, but I was too sick to ride anyway. (Too drowsy on the meds as well).

Now, who's up for a little Central Coast outing on the 22nd? Story at 11:00

Perfedt weather, decent roads, good food and companionable folks to share the day with. Avery good day indeed! Until today I didn't understand that the three locations: Wherever, Jacksonville and Jamestown are all at the exact same cordinates. Amazing the essential knowledge I acquire hanging out with you folks. Simply amazing! :p

During lunch and the obligatory tire kicking farkel oggoling, Mad mike and I started talking about the possability of a group ride to attend a Street Masters Cornering Clinic. I attended one during their inagural year and found it a valuable experience, valuable enough to repeat this month. Mike informed me that others have expressed interest in a group experience at Willow Springs with the Street Masters crew. The clinic is held on the Horse Thief Mile course, eleven turns in one mile. It is a trip of a course! :D

I'll take the con on this one, if there are no objections. I've sent a note to Cindy at Streetmasters to ask for rates, schedule, availability et. all. I'll also ask Admin if we could open a heading for training etc.

For your edification and entertainment https://www.streetmasters.info/

All ideas and suggestions are welcome.

So why didn't this get posted under ride reports?

I had a great time. It was good to see Tinker (with "round" wheels), and to meet Vectorvp1, who definitely got the "longest distance" free lunch. Skyway picked some great backroads, but I really missed Toecutter, Highlander and TWN. The Rogdebs being the perennial no show (We understand Rog, but can't resist) and Rick & the Den Mother choosing their daughter's birthday over a ride with us....go figure!

For the rest of you who didn't make this ride (Read:WeekendRider), you sure missed some great riding weather!

It was a very cool surprise when our waitress asked, "Did you guys all ride up on motorcycles?"

Ian asked, "Why?"

She says, "Because if you're on a motorcycle you get a 10% discount!"

Paul immedieately wished he'd ordered a larger meal.

What a great group of people to share the day with.

Ian should have said " Nope we just love the smell of leather and Cordura........................here's your sign! :D

Sounds like another good time ya'll had ! B)

( and I don't think the " Ride Reports " section has been replaced after the hackers screwed up the board )

Ride reports are back, just in a different place.

Weather was awesome, another day where I was doing the necessary stuff and wishing I was riding. Oh well. Glad you all had fun!

Great riding with you guys earlier today. Got home about 30 minutes ago, thanks to some nasty LA traffic. Got to us some 'gentile' persuasion on a car that decided it didnt like me sharing a lane.

Overall for me this weekend was 2021 miles with 806 miles of it taking place today. Not too bad of a weekend I would say. I managed to average 43mpg after I left you guys and started heading home, and according to my GPS somewhere along the line I managed to hit 311 mph! Let me tell you, with those new Pirelli tires on, it felt like it was only doing 75-80 mph.

Paul, after you headed South I cranked 2 clicks of preload into the rear and the "squishy" feeling was gone when accelerating out of a corner. It seems the Pirelli's like something other than "touring mode" on suspension settings (TWN, take note). It'll be interesting to change to the "E" spec rear tire and see if there's a difference.

Did the seat improve more as you put extra miles on it. Russell says 1,ooo miles minimum for break in, I don't imagine they meant in one day. :D

I'm glad you got home in good shape.

Okay, Andrew, you guys were missed, too (Well, at least Sherri....), I didn't want you to know and get a "swelled head".

So it was the guys from the FJR Forum, aye?

At the lookout on Hwy 49 where you guys stopped to look into the Merced River Canyon down to the Bagby bridge, I was there with a few of my bicycling buddies. You guys rolled in from the North while we were taking a break from riding out of the canyon. Seeing that many FJRs had me thinking it might be something from this forum, but I've been away for awhile and haven't been keeping track of your rides.

I should have walked over and introduced myself, but my group was rolling out as you rolled in, and these bicycle guys don't like sitting too long and getting chilled during a ride.

Anyway, it was a great day to be out riding, and all this rain has made for some beautiful scenery hasn't it? I'll start paying attention to the forum and will happily join you guys for the next ride in the area. I even have a few roads -great scenery and views, no traffic and plenty of turns- in the area to show you guys if interested.

Here's a ride: Clicky

BTW, thanks to all who were on the ride. You may not know (Ian did) but his is my first trip on Hwy 49 since the "cliff diving" incident 2 years ago. Needless to say, I had a little trepidation but I knew it was a "demon" I had to face. Riding "sweep" helped and I must say that I had a little "ulp!" feeling when I passed the spot. I prolly should'a stopped and mad a unrinary offering :D .

Just so's yew all noe yew whar mah soo-port groop, en yew didint eben noe it.

Youse guys are the bestest!

So, Ronman, maybe you should check here more often?!?!? You might want to hook up with Skyway so he can email you when we're riding in the area. Aaaannnd, we will be having the "Open Passes (Hwy88/Carson-Markleeville for lunch-Monitor over and back-Hwy4/Ebbett's) Ride" after Memorial Day.
