How else could it possibly go? It is a thread started by 'Zilla, it is about 'Zilla, and it has pictures of 'Zilla. There could be no other outcome.

I did have some hope for this thread because of the KTM dirtbike thing, they are supposed to be rugged and useful. I hoped that would have a positive effect on our burrito eating friend. Sadly it seems that even the considerable power of the big KTM is not enough to reverse the course of 'Zilla.

I just pity the poor folks in NM that encounter 'Zilla after he reads this thread. Pissing off a guy who gets paid to ride around in a a powerful car with a loaded firearm on his hip and a citation book available is not the brightest move. But then I'm not expecting to be in NM anytime soon, so what the hell.... taunt on!

As if Colorado itself wasn't enough motivation to take the long way around NM.

Sadly, I will be riding into and through New Mexico in two weeks. What is worse is that 'Zilla already knows this. Originally we thought we might ride together for a while. Now, our ride may take place in his police unit instead of on our FJRs!

With that unhappy thought in mind...

I was JUST KIDDING 'Zilla! No hard feelings I hope? I think the KTM and you are doing great together.

Maybe 'Zilla will give RH a tour of the local detention facility where he can learn some shower-room soap bar retrieval techniques.

Well...We just got back from Moab. I don't have any pictures except one of dirty bikes in the trailer and one Patch sent to me of me blasting a water crossing.

We had good fun. Patch and I took a friend of mine, Eric, that rides a Yamaha WRF450 and a friend of Eric's from Lake Tahoe came down on his KTM300XC 2-stroke.

Got there Wednesday afternoon and rode Fins and Things and the short loop of Hell's Revenge. On Thursday we rode Kane Creek Trail and had a blast.

We were concerned about snow around Moab but the days were warm, so on Friday, instead of driving north out of Moab and riding Mary's Trail, Bryan's Trail and the White Wash Sand Dunes, we stayed near Moab and rode Poison Spider and Golden Spike. That plan was to let any snow on the slick rock melt and dry. Poison Spider was technical and hard in a lot of places. I ate **** on the rocks a few times. My right thigh hurts, my right elbow is bruised, and my left knee is sore as Hell from banging it on a fall. Thank God I was wearing good gear. If I hadn't been, I would have shattered my elbow. My helmet hit the ground a time or two also.

I was pretty tired when we headed out to the sand dunes yesterday morning. A huge wet season destroyed a lot of the road we took in, so we spent a lot of time digging and cutting stuff to prevent the trailer from being damaged. Finally, we got to our rally point and took off on the bikes.

Patch, Eric and Randy were hauling *** down a flat sand wash, less than a mile from the truck. That wash leads to the single track whoops trail that leads to the slick rock and dunes. I was tired and taking it easy. I came around a bend and Patch was on the ground. The sand was FUBAR because the wet sand was hard with tons of traction and the dry sand was soft with minimal traction. As Patch made a left and looked to his next turn, he high sided and was thrown from the bike. He had been on wet sand, slid to soft sand and hit the wet sand again, which flipped the bike.

He finally caught his breath but was hurt. He decided not to ride, which made me know it was serious. We got him back to the vehicles and I took the guys to the slick rock. Eric and Randy were having fun, but I was fatigued, I hurt from the day before, and I was worried about Patch. I decided to ride back and hang with him.

After the guys got back, we loaded up and made it back to Moab. Took Patch to the ER and he got an x-ray: broken clavicle, but we figured that. Patch asked how many pieces it was in and some comment was made about losing count or something. Guessing he shattered something.

So, our sister got ahold of her shoulder doctor who will see Patch tomorrow and schedule surgery for Tuesday or Wednesday. 6-8 weeks from now and he should be good to go.

When I get pictures from those guys, I'll share some...Maybe. lol...

Ah man, I hate hearing about Patch's shoulder. Tell Alex I'm sending positive mojo down his way hoping for safe and fast healing. Good lord we don't want him and Don hanging out together at pt .

I'm glad you guys had fun in Moab. I've been going over there since 1982. Most everyone I know has had a surprise meeting with the ground over there. A lot of times it's just a hidden rock under the send that sends you flying. I separated my shoulder & broke a couple ribs on Mill Creek coming back from Wipe Out Hill. Lost it in 3rd and slid into a pile of rocks. Man it's a long way out when your hurting. I'm going to keep my old *** in my Jeep in the future as a lot of those old injuries come back and remind you they were there. Moab's some of the coolest riding anywhere though. I hope Patch heals up OK, he'll be back at it next year.

Can you boys say ouch?

I didn't think so at the time, but as the fall-offs occur more frequently as I get older, I really lucked out.

I had a hard get off on my MTB a few years ago. 3 broken ribs, and I knocked my clavicle loose from my sternum.

It's been a pain, but in the get-offs since then it just pops out and my chiropractor or physical therapist just shoves it back close to where it started. No broke bones to deal with so far. (I just have to remember to land on my right side.)

They told me they could wire it down, but I would lose mobility. I'm thinking I'd rather it pop out than break.

Best wishes to Patch for quick recovery. Tell him I said he needs to slow down.

But I've never met either of you in my life, so I reckon he'll toss that....

Rushes, is that you? Holeeeeee foooook. That was an ugly spill. So, Patch just called me. He's home from surgery and feels ok. Let's see how he feels when the Fentanol wears off. Doc said he had a hard time getting stuff realigned correctly, but he's back together now.

You guys should see the bruise covering my right elbow and upper fore arm. What's stupid is that is from a slow speed fall where I don't even know why I went over. I just went over on the downhill side and remember landing right on my elbow. If I hadn't of been geared up, I would of shattered it.

I'm gonna enjoy riding the soft sand hills here for a while. At least coming off on those doesn't hurt much. With more seat time, I'll spend less time on the ground. However, along with injuries, I ran into a cluster **** yesterday.

During the trip Patch and I shared a room and Eric and Randy shared a room. My share of the entire stay was $117.92. Nice. We checked out Sunday morning and the fat cow working there had to pry herself away from the free breakfast trough long enough to run our cards. We got our receipts and left. Mine said, $117.92.

Yesterday I went to use my card and it was declined. WTF? A call to my bank showed Super 8 Moab charged $117.92 and $922.09 on my card, so the money was being held. No big deal. To get my $922 back quick, all I needed was to get the hotel to send a fax that the charge was a mistake. Here's where it went sideways.

I called and got Ronnie who is the General Manager. As soon as I started my story, she interrupted me saying the clerk made a mistake and refunded my card immediately. Perfect. "How long until my money shows up?" She tells me three to four business days. We had a conversation about how her life would be affected if I took $1,000 from her account for 4 days. The stupid ***** tried to act like it was my fault. I was getting pissed. So I asked her to just send a fax to my bank explaining the mistake and release my money so it would clear immediately. She refused. She finally said she'd send it and hung up on me.

I called Wyndham corporate which is Super 8's parent company and made a complaint. They forwarded that to the General Manager, idiots. After that, I called my bank and still no fax. So I called Ronnie back and she told me the fax she sent failed. She's a ******* liar. This is when I told her she basically stole $922 from me and she should be bending over backwards to fix the problem her clerk caused. IF the fax failed, she should have called me and told me so we could confirm the number and move it along. Instead, she just didn't give a ****. So she finally resent the fax and it worked. All fixed, except while my account was stopped, we had an automatic withdrawal over-draw us and add a $35 overdraft charge to my account. See, we have plenty of money, but only keep what we need in the account to prevent someone from stealing all our cash. That extra $922 being taken out and us not knowing put us behind the curve.

So I called the bank and asked them to remove the charge since it wasn't my fault. They said it wasn't their fault either and Super 8 needed to reimburse me. That was a ******** answer, but technically correct. So, I called Ronnie again. She flat out refused to refund my $35 saying that wasn't her fault. I tried to be nice, and finally the ******* came out. I ended up hanging up on her. I called my bank and pitched a fit, so they finally relented and put my $35 back.

Then I called Wyndham corporate again. They were very nice and are supposed to call me back, but I'll NEVER stay at that hotel again. **** her. Corporate is supposed to get back to me, but let's see what happens.

I got a review request from Super 8 today. Let's see where that goes. Holy ****, ridiculous. All she had to do was be helpful, and I wouldn't have had much to say; mistakes happen. For Ronnie to act like I was bugging her was nuts. I seriously thought about driving back to Moab and choking the living **** out of her.

Next time I'll pay a little more for a better hotel. First time I've ever had an issue like that.
