Final thoughts...
First things first, I'm grateful for this community of FJR owners. Your feedback and insights helped keep a level head on my shoulders while trying to identify what was going on.

As of my 28 mile commute to work this morning, I've ridden approximately 350 miles since completing a radiator flush / fill, and an oil and oil filter change Sunday morning... ZERO issues.

One positive in all this, the removal of all the fairings allowed me to complete a detailed cleaning of their insides (which were just as dirty as the coolant), check the hoses, air filter and give everything else a good wipe down.

Couple things to add: This may have been covered here already. Sorry if duplicate advice. As many here would advise and you just learned... On any previously owned bike (especially with more than with more than 16k miles), it is prudent to 1) change ALL fluids despite what you've been told by seller, even with records of dealer service: oil/filter, air filter, final drive, coolant and brake/clutch fluid flush, then consider spark plugs. 2) Check torque on all major suspension and wheel components: fork upper/lower triple tree, front axle and pinch bolts, swing arm, rear axle and pinch bolts. 3) Consider the (manual says every 16k, many here believe that is excessive) Rear suspension relay arm lubrication (search here). 4) Check your front (3) and rear (1) suspension adjustments (FSM and owners manual have 3 suggested settings, you will find more by searching here). I just recently learned this after buying a reasonably well-maintained 2013 A with 24k miles. Had recent Yamaha dealer service records showing oil/filter change, brake/coolant flush and replace fork seals/oil. Suspension adjustments were way out whack compared to any suggested settings). Most shocking is that I discovered that when the fork seals where done, the jack wagon tech did not torque (read: hand tight, could remove by hand, no tool required) the 2 lower triple tree pinch bolts on the left side. One the single top triple tree pinch bolt secured the left fork!!! (BTW, you CAN get a 1/4" socket/wrench on it without fairing removal). I also found (assuming same tech) failed to replace the left front fender mount bolt (rear of fork)... The final drive gear oil was black and the clutch (DOT 4) was pretty dark.
 
With work commute duty in springtime in Tennessee it sounds like you don't have one of those 4 wheel turtles in the stable?
No worries and no hurry either, your FJR is as rock solid as it ever was. While I never saw mine's temp gauge redline. It did have me believing those naysayers about FJR's being hot on the legs.
Sure wish l wouldn't have taken that crap as gospel. I probably would have looked at it's coolant level before her water broke.
The good news from here is it will be running cooler than it was. Yes, that's probably not as good to hear commuting in Tennessee. But it also happened before it had time to earn its true nickname. So forget "Distilled Water Douche Bag". It's true nature will show you it's real one soon enough. These are remarkably engineered machines.
Another thing it's most likely going to show you is those brakes that feel fantastic are easy to get pushed beyond their limit. Kickass comfort AND speed is a hell of a thing but 640 lbs hauling ass does have it's limits.
