The hair on my chest and back are only thick enough to keep me warm down to the upper 30's. I tried to paint FJR on my chest, but the hair kept cloging things up.

Add me to the list of cycle commuters today - 41f at 5:30 AM in the north metro. About what it was overnight in Klamath Falls, OR when I was there in July.

I guess I've got you all beat. It was -3 C or 26.6 F. There was frost on the ground but not on the road. Only drawback was the MTO felt it was necessary to spray their new liquid salt all over the expressway. I will make sure to give it a very thorough wash before I tuck her in for the winter. I see the long term forcast for next week shows some -8 C temps, so my riding season may be over very soon.

I'm riding in today. Leaving in a few minutes. Have to double back in for Saturday morning and will do so Sunday also. Bike goes in for maint. so I'm not sure whats after that. Only thing I'm not fond of is the frost covering the bike everyday.

Today and every day, except two days in August when I had items to big to bring home on the bike. Wasn't too bad, 26 when I left in the a.m. about 55 now. And no, no heated gear yet. :p Maybe thats why I came down with pneumonia two weeks ago

:jester:

....the FJR's out of tires.
Not entirely sure, airboss, but I believe you can replace those :p Maybe somebody can confirm that ;)

I didn't ride today. WAY too tired to deal with the cagers who, apparently when it gets colder and it's dark in the morning, become COMPLETELY brain dead.

I did ride earlier this week, though. And when I got to work, like six people asked me if I had put the bike away for the winter  "Why would I do that!?!?" was my response....

Would have but...........went to push the bike out and it seemed a bit hard to push, pretty near impossible! Wouldn't you know it, the rear tire is flat like a pancake! Put it on the center stand and sure'nuf, there's a screw stuck right in the middle of the tire. Well, I've got 10k on my Storms and was hoping to wait until next spring to put new treads on. Guess I'll go ahead and Git R Dun now.

I ride to work every day there's not ice on the roads. Coldest this year has been 22 so far, but I did -10 a couple of times last year. Worse part can be getting the bike to start, as it's outside year round. But any day you can ride is a good day.

I am near the end of a streak of riding to and from work every day since May 17th. I had no gear in spring, which made it challenging to ride in the cold.

Lowest temps on my dash have been last Fri. and Sat. 27 and 28 degrees, respectively. I need a balaclava and better gloves to go much colder than that.

Finally managed to get almost full night sleep so I took bike to work this morning. It feels so goooood even when it reads 34 degree :)

I rode in today. May have been a mistake....we'll see.

I probably should include our fellow adverse weather riders from the East. I just get tired of hearing how cold it is in CA, when they have to ride in anything below 72.5 degrees.
Your right us California riders must be wimps. Its 47 degrees on my commute to work and I still wear my mesh jacket and gloves. If it dosen't get much colder I will have wasted money on the Tourmaster Saber jacket. I was thinking about buying some California winter gloves, all the regular winter gloves are too thick.

No one will ever claim you are not hard core. On the other hand, you may hear the word "loco."

I always find it helps to sit back, take a deep breath, and say "Things are never quite as bad as they seem." Close your eyes and the snow might disappear.....or at least pray that the afternoon warms up enough to melt the ice! ;)

Bad decision...

Yooza! Strap those skies on and go for broke! Riding in the snow is no fun. I got caught in a snow "storm" on Monday on the way home from work, luckly it did not stick to the road. I did ride this morning, saw 27 deg on the way in. I am just west of Milwaukee, WI.

Good luck making it home!

Definitely not hard core, maybe a little loco. :)

Actually, the pavement's still warm enough to melt any falling snow so the roads along Lake Superior are clear. It's several degrees warmer by the lake than it is 'over the hill' at the airport (where the official temp is taken), due to the 'lake effect'.
