David, no map in front of me. Does any of that Rte 39 go near Lake Moomaw? The road back to Lake Moomaw is GREAT (6... something, a 3 digit #)! Sweep, sweep, sweep, sweep, sweep. You likie that kind of road too, doncha'. Right next to the lake would be a nice rest stop, too... & THEY'VE GOT REAL BATHROOMS!

the first one is LONG but some mighty good roads there...

The second one would still be a good run (and covers some nice roads) and it would put Heidi in a better position to break off mid day (130 to 29 to 60 back to parts east)

Edit: Heidi the first one goes by lake moomaw

Good news Gary,

60 is a shaweet ride on the west side of the BRP. I guess that we'll be discussing it tomorrow over lunch. I'm sure that no one or two rides are going to please everyone, either. I'll cope w/ whatever is decided, though.

I'd really like to get by the lake, though. The ride back to it is one of my favorites out that way... except for 28 in WV... & Rte 39... I like that one, too. I've rode the section of 250 on the Virginia side... which is oh so too tame. I hear that the section going into WV is WILD!

I may have ridden it b4... not sure. Anyhow, the route that I was thinking is going to be too long for a day ride. It's one to be reserved for another time when a loop isn't necessary & a night stay along the route is done. So, I'll be following ya'lls lead. You've got a lot more knowledge of the area then I do.

Heidi

luvtoride ,, remember I suggested that road to you many moons ago when you and you friend went to WV and then dropped down close to me on 311 ,,

Howzabout 250 all the way into Huttonsville WV, then pick up 219/250N to Elkins then 33 back to Harrisonburg, then....(I don't know from there 'cause Mitch and I will probably start heading north from there).

Hey all - sorry I missed the first ride. Missed my flight outta Houston yesterday and the later ones were booked with spring break students. Didn't get in until this morning.

Hope everyone enjoyed the ride today. I'll catch up with y'all on the next go 'round.

Chris - we had a great time, sorry we missed you. However, we did vote that since you missed the first meet, we would have to raffle off your bike at the next meet, so PLEASE, don't miss the next one!

I know others will post some photos, but here are a couple of the group to start the flood. I'll admit up front that I don't remember everyone's name - yup I'm a dog and I apologize! These were both taken on Rt 33 in Franklin WV (I'm not even real sure about that). I took this first pic some I'm absent.

Here's the second with me next to Lorie (hence JimLor)

Ok, from the left it's Randy, ?, ? (again I'm sorry - both great guys!), Mitch, Tim, Penny, Heidi, me and Lorie (ain't it cute we're dressed alike?) and Galxy5. IN the first photo I'm gone and Gary is next to Penny.

Had a great ride that Gary figured out. I relaxed an followed, but best I can gather we went west on 250 across some nice hills w/great curves, north on 220 thru W. Va, east on 33 and south on 11, 81, 340. Gotta tell you that there are some really nice roads, views in VA and W. VA.

Lorie and I both had a great time and it met some really nice people on this trip - we both hope we'll do it again!

Hi everyone,

Well, I'm home! Got here about 5:25 in Norfolk-land. This weekend was wonderful! I met some really seriously wonderful people & got to hang out with a couple of other great folks that I already knew.

The group ride worked out great! I gotta' tell ya'... I really wondered about riding w/ 9 bikes... but it was seamless... there wasn't even one car breaking up the group. It was that good. And Gary... cudos on the pace.

Everyone, it was great riding with everyone. We'll have to do it again sooner than later... but lets give it at least a few weeks. I am EXHAUSTED! The wind was relentless on my ride home. My neck & head need some ibuprofen & rest. Worst ass kicking that I've had in a longggg time.

Until we meet again for another good time,

Heidi

Mike Hogan, AKA Powerman in Fredericksburg.

Waiting on an 06, have an ST1100 and a CBR900.

I'd love to ride with you guys sometime soon.

I have a pretty good setup of tools, welders, etc,

if you guys have any trouble in the area.

Ditto everything said above-great day of riding. It was a pleasure riding w/ a group where everybody could really ride! Thanks,Shields.

Had an absolute blast and it was definitely great to meet everyone. Hope your weather today was nicer than it was here.

Thanks again for letting us north'ners crash your party.

I had a fantastic time with "ya'all" I think it's great that the folks who make up this internet community can come together from mult. States (some of those being in the USA and some being states of mind) :D meet (many of us for the first time) and have such a good time together. It was kind of like a mini EOM :agent:

As Heidi said: 9 bikes, almost all strangers until Saturday and we rode together like we had practiced it----Damn, FJR owners are cool :drinks:

I'll post photos too in a couple of days!

Powerman: would love to have ya along! Thanks for the offer of tools etc.

Also, if I remember correctly JimLor (Jim and Lori) are from Fredricksburg also.

Whoooooo Whooooo Great folks Great Weather Great roads

Most fun I've had with my clothes on in a long time!!!!!!!!!

Looks like everybody made it home OK including me. Tim, I hope you made it back OK as well. Let us know.

I had a great time and a blast. Everybody I met was just great. Hard to believe that what had been total strangers before can meet and hook up for a ride that perfectly. As Gary said it almost looked like it was practiced.

I had a very good time and wanted to say thanks for putting this together. Hope we get to do it again.

On my way home I went a stretch of BRP until Buchanan. It was a sweet ride. I had no cars in front of me and was able to ride a good pace. In Salem I saw Sheilds. Sheilds, I hope you didn't have a problem sitting on the side of the road. I didn't think of it at the time, but was wondering about it later.

I was pretty sore last night but a good night sleep worked wonders. I'll post some pics here in the next few days. Didn't get to take that many pics since we were busy riding, which is more important.

Ingo

I just want to say how much I enjoyed meeting everyone ,,

the ride up to Waynesboro with Ingo and Sheilds was great ,, we went up US 11 and had an easy ride in ,, the lunch was great and it was pretty funny that the servers at Crackerbarrel wanted to be in the fotos too ,, the ride out into WVirginia was nothing short of spectacular ,, great roads and we rode like a pack that had been riding together for quite a while (Born to be Wild ,, kept running through my head ) ,, during the ride when we would pass a group of Harleys either stopped ( cause you know they had been 10 miles ) or going the other way "I bet those guys are wondering where we came from" cause it is very unusual to see so many FJR's in a group ,, Sunday ,, Gary & Penny ,, Ingo ,, Heidi and I had breakfast together and took off down through Goshen and then split up for our rides home ,, I went over to Iron Gate to see my sis and her hubby for a short visit and when I was about to leave Sheilds pulled up ,, he had been over the infamous 311 and was on the way home to Roanoke ,, so we rode together to Troutville where he stopped for coffee and I went on to my little sis's house to check on her ,, I'll spare you the details ,, she will be ok ,,

BTW please post up your final milage totals ,, I am pretty sure that Heidi will be the long distance winner ,, yes ,, a girl ,, Heidi wanted me to say woman but girl sounds so much better when we rub it in to her friends out there on the Va coast ,,

I am looking forward to doing this again ,, in a few weeks ,, lets start the bidding on the next meeting spot ,, Natural Bridge ???? Roanoke ???? howz about a ride down to Shady Valley ?????

Tim ,, hope you had a safe ride home in the middle of the night !!!!

Randy & Mitch ,, thanks for comming down to Ole Virginny ,,

Well, it was great meeting everyone. FJR riders are the best! Made it home by 10:15.

Check the GPS MAX SPEED. A trip isn't complete if you don't hit triple digits!

Almost 700 miles. I felt good, should have kept going!

Great warmup for an IBA ride later this year. Anyone care to join me?
