Folks.

Paul Peloquin has a really neat set-up where he calls in from the road and automagically his voice mail makes it to the web on his site. Pretty cool. He even said hi to me through his latest entry.<G>

Anyhoo, start at the bottom and work your way up, it's worth the time for a great look inside one riders odyssey.

Good stuff, and man, is he ambitious! That's a 24 hr ride to Grand Marais, then 12 hrs back to St. Louis from there without stops! Assuming he goes through Wisconsin and Chicago and stops to bag a couple other bonuses, he'd barely make it back. Probably worth it though, if they're big point bonuses!

I think that's the route Iggy was eyeing up as well, but it appears as though they've changed their plans, since they've backtracked down to Bass Harbor, ME.

Good Luck Paul! We're rootin' for ya! :yahoo:

Wow..... just wow.....

What I find intriguing - only because I've BTDT - is his very first podcast. If you want to hear the voice of IBR fatique, IBR demoralization and despair, listen to this:

https://paulpeloquin.blogspot.com/2007/08/a...-moblog_21.html

Check out the inflection in his exhausted voice as he describes the level of effort needed to remove his gloves at a gas station.... I have felt the very same anguish and despair. Hearing this in near real-time from an IBR rider who is currently out on the road brings back a lot of haunting memories from when I competed in this same event 10 years ago....

Paul is fine, really, but you can tell he was fairly zapped when he made this particular podcast..... 36 non-stop hours riding in rain of Biblical proportions will do that to a guy....

Unbelievable!

I would guess the only way to feel good about the rain is that everyone on the same route is going through the same misery. What a mental game this is!

Seemed to me that the last blog he was far more upbeat, apart from the sound problems.

This rally sure ain't for whimps.

Hang in there Paul, there will definitely be some truly high points to come.

This is exactly what I would love to do if I was in the IBR. Keeping an audio blog not only helps people hear how your doing, but also lets you ramble a bit when you need to.

Paul is another tough cookie out there, and I'm sure he will overcome the electrical challenges he's currently facing.

Wow.

It's one thing to read about someone riding through the rain. It's a completely different subject to HEAR the pain and misery someone is enduring in that very same rain.

I agree, I believe Paul is one tough cookie and will slog through this.

Just listened to Paul's latest blog. It's facinating to hear how dissapointed he is that he's not executing his plan like he wanted. I must admit I always get that feeling during the rallys that I've done and usually I'm suprised by how well I've actually done at the end, which would indicate that most riders don't live up to their own expectations. When you feel that way, you tend to blow off bonuses believing that you're not going to finish as well as you expect, which I've learnt is a big mistake.

Hang in there Paul, you may be pleasantly surprised by how well you're really doing.

Folks ~ Thanks to all who took the time to listen to my blog. It was really set up to keep a few of my friends and family updated on my progress; I had no idea the blog would be forwarded to this forum and to others on the net. I've recieved many favorable comments and am humbled by the number of people who have expressed appreciation for it. My favorite was a couple in the lobby of rally HQ who recognized my voice from the blog. Unreal.

Thanks for letting me share a big part of my motorcycling life with you all.

Paul,

Your blog became one of the first sites I checked every time I turned on my computer. Having those Kerault-esqe "from the road" postings were great.

I sent the URL for your site to about 40 people I know that are not part of the LD community - family, friends, etc., as as a result, you've become a bit of a "phenom" to these folks.

I look forward to meeting you and Moose at some point.

Hal

P.S. - Darn Good Job !!!

I'm listening to them after the fact...and can affirm that you added a huge dimension of authenticity that is the roller coaster of emotion on the IBR my friend. Coupled with the fact that you and I pursued similar yet distinctive routes, finished essentially co-equal in standing, both rode FJRs, and roomed together several nights.....I thank you Paul.

Good on ya'!

Hey Paul, your blog https://paulpeloquin.blogspot.com/2007/08/a...oblog_3758.html you talk about the ME880's. I replayed it over and over.. hard to understand.. what were you trying to say about the tires performance?

..and on another note, your are the pioneer for audio blogs. Way cool, and congratulations Paul on a GREAT ride. Seriously.

btw - you'll never get a Candy Butt Association plate.. ever!

(well, unless you're willing to pay the fees, of course! )
