Hmmm, I just called Michelin myself and was told end of the year. Questioned that woman for about 5 minutes if she is absolutely sure and answer was yes.

Fjroamer, how much did your dealer quoted you for them?

Well, I've got a ride planned in Sept so I'm gonna need new rubber soon. If I can't find PR2's at Southwest Moto early next week, I'll probably order up something else. Pilot Road 2 testing will just have to wait until next tire rotation.

p.s. these things are $$$$$$$$
Hey, buddy, you don't post that without coughin' up the price. Out with it, man!

The list $ (which I'll get a break on) is something like $250 rr/ $190 fr. I didn't write it down but I'm fairly certain it came to that. I am led to believe that they will be the most expensive skins one can adorn the feejer with.

hoping this has not aggravated any cardiac conditions..... I said "just order them, I'll grieve later!"

p.s. Cougar, I'm hoping that's not correct fr. woman Mich rep. I talked to a guy, and pressed him for clear and accurate info. on Pilot Road 2.., not Powers,... told him of other reps. recent mentions of later in yr. and he said most assuredly that Sept. 1 they are being released to distributors, all testing/cert. is done. Now if this turns out not to be the case, I'm going to give customer relations HELL over this! Two customer service reps saying two different things on the same tire. I should know by mid week of next week. If a screw up, I go to 021 'stones (at a much less scary price)

In the mean time..., maybe a few more randon board mbr. calls to confirm/unconfirm these issues??? prod. # and phone # in above posts.

I'd love to try the Pilot Road 2 (front and rear) on the XX and FJR when the currently new skins wear out. IF those are the expected introductory prices in the US, I sure hope they come down by the time I need new tires.

These will be my next tire too. I have the new Strada now so I will not need a new pair of shoes until maybe Dec but I tend to bu them before I need them.

After doing some comparative retail pricing of similar tires (Avon Storm, 'stone 021, Pirelli Diablo, Metz Z6) it appears that initial pricing of P.R.2's are close to 25% higher. This seems steep but one might assume that discounted prices would be less, but still higher than other models .

I'll have to see what my adjusted price ends up being (yet to be determined) and may abort, and move to the 021 'stones which could be $100 less for the pair.

stay tuned!!!

release and availability confirmed!

One last call to Michelin this morning (I think they recognize me as I've called several times in the last month). The sizes for FJR (120/70-ZR17) and (180/55-ZR17) are released and in transit to Parts Unlimited and Western Powersports, the only two north American distributors for Michelin. Some other sizes are yet to be released but that doesn't concern the FJR. They will then be distributed to dealers as orders are placed (most likely within a week). Figuring for the shuffle in shipping, perhaps two weeks before they actually end up on a bike.

If you call Michelin or a dealer or distributor, have the part # and size (posted in earlier posts). Some of the phone jockies aren't up to speed yet since only some sizes are being released. Again, I'm trusting the gal got her data correct and I kept hounding her specifically, mentioning conflicting data by their personel.

The Cost: appears to be maybe 25% higher than other brands at retail (but can be purchased for less....) They are high, for sure, but follow this logic:

My tire history: (everyones is different so work with your own data, not others!!!)

'stone 020 (oem) 7,500 mi (loved that cupping!)

Mich P.R. 9,700 mi

Conti R.A. 7,500 mi

Pireilli Diablo Strada "E" 8,000 mi (stretched!!!)

I've done the math and orig. Pilot Roads lasted approx. 25%-30% longer than other tires I used.

IF the (gen 2) Pilot Road 2's can last 25%-30% longer than current comparable tires AND be superior handling wet/dry tires then the 25% higher cost is a wash..... $$$/ mile being the same or less. Make sense??? You pay more but (hopefully) get more in mileage and handling benefits.

So...., I'll be a forum "guinea pig" and take the plunge! (and the momentary wait)

SofB. Those people at Michelin just want to reach out and pull someones head out of their asses. Called today, again, got this feisty lady that started arguing with me. I told her about conflicting reports and finally after 10 minutes was put on hold(to chill out probably). she comes back and confirms that front is available end of August. I ask her what day is today??? get no answer. and the rear beginning of September.

Called Parts Unlimited to get an answer from them and got railed because I do not have a dealer number. For **** sake I just want to know when their are coming.

For **** sake I just want to know when their are coming.

settle down Alex..., see post above yours.

Everything's gonna be o.k.! :D

my local dealer has already placed an order with Parts Unlimited and Western Powersports so he'll get them from one or the other a.s.a.p.. I understand why the distributors don't want a million calls from non dealers.

They're coming....., just gotta be a bit patient! (I'm fighting this as well since I basically am sidelined with current tire worn to casing and can't/ won't ride 'till new tire arrives and weather is awesome here in PNW) ;)

Better news. Just called RonAyers, I always get my tires there, and got a good news. Paul said that back order date for the front was moved to tomorrow, which hopefully means we can start ordering them tomorrow. No status on the rear just yet. Price will be 132.64 for the front. No price on the rear at a moment. Will update you all tomorrow.

..just had another (different) dealer call Western Powersports for m.s.r.p. quote and P.R.2's are in their system.

180/55-17 $253.00

120/70-17 $190.00

Your local dealer may make price adjustments. Don't know about the mail order outfits.

I suppose someone may try to work up a "group buy"? Perhaps not a bad idea!

....that's all I got folks! ;)

Good googly-goo! At those prices, I don't think I'll be wearing out any of those in this lifetime.

Well, anybody ordered new pr2 tires yet? Are they off the boat and in the computers so we can buy them in the states?

yes, they are off the boat.

yes, they are currently being shipped to distributors (Western Powersports and Parts Unltd.)

yes, they have a pricing and part# and can be ordered through dealer.

yes, they may take a couple weeks to actually get to local shops.

....hmmmmm, can these people read
