Wait. I put on an MV Motorrad riser to move the bars back, do I get the Harley Davidson rates now?
You can't wreck and claim it if you don't ride it. I have a coworker with a $28K HD and he's put about 1500 miles on it over the last several years. Those bikes are easy money for insurance companies. Here's the catch- two buddies have -3 year old HD geezer glides. These are both $20k+ bikes. They each pay $320/yr.You can try all you want- none of this makes any sense.
Perhaps different insurance companies have different rates for different parts of the country, bikes and riders? I checked with Dairyland and the quoted premium was nearly double of Shelter and Progressive.Timely of this post to pop back to the top. Thinking of adding something to my garage and almost choked when I tested a few quotes through Progressive. Tried Dairyland today and found much more favorable rates. Going to peruse this thread for other alternatives.
USAA doesn't insure motorcycles, they farm that out to Progressive.Check USAA as well, we just moved everything to them and dropped over $1400 a year across 4 vehicles and the 2 bikes, with no change in coverage. It's different for everyone though, but worth shopping around.
