And let's not forget - This EOM prize.
Er, um, story please?
Prior to my arrival, there were rides on Thursday. FJRfencer promptly bailed on the ride due to foreseen rain via the cell phone report. Of course, the other riders were caught in the rain but felt obligated to make fun of ole fencer and his "womanly" ways. After hearing the story, I felt it only appropriate that he receive special recognition for his pre-rain actions at Saturday's buffet. Thus, the purchase of the "Summer's Eve" from a local business establishment.

At the dinner, just prior to the name-drawing for the door prizes, the special presentation was made. Hopefully, due humiliation was bestowed upon Mr. Fencer. However, after receiving the award, he promptly re-donated the "Summer's Eve" back to the door prize pool. It was left on the podium, right out front.

As names were called during the door prize giveaway, recipients would come up and take their choice of one, sometimes two gifts from the door prize pool. The lady in the photograph posing with the "Summer's Eve," promptly marched up after the drawing of her name, and CHOSE the "Summer's Eve" and then delivered one of the nights best quotes; "I packed light."

When I looked on the list for the sponser that I won the prize for, there was not a website so I googled it.

Found they had one so fired off a email to thank them ... here is the note I got back!

Hello Tom,

Congrats! Thanks for letting us know and enjoy the book and the roads.

Ride well and ride safe!

Best regards,

Tom, thanks very much for doing some spy-work to find White Horse. They are listed, already. Perhaps next year you could win some prescription glasses? ;)

I sent off emails and am surprised how many vendors wrote back saying thanx

Ahhh, ******. Appropriate, yet subtle. Well played, Scabby!

Ah.... yes you are very correct that they were listed but no website listed..

I wanted to send them a e mail.... plus I got to check out their website for other stuff.

Having not attended this year I have nobody to thank. But I would like to possibly throw business to sponsors of our forum activities. Maybe someone could edit that big list in the first post and add links to all the web sites for each sponsor that does business over the internet? That sure would be handy.

I'd like to send a thank-you for the nice FJR hat giveaway...who do I send this thank-you to? (Sorry, I was talking in the back of the class when teacher was giving out all the info...)

The mass FJR hats (typical style) were provided by Yamaha. There were several really cool ones done by Duane (OHFJR-Premiere Cycle). The best that I could describe those is... they said FJR...but didn't look like your typical Yamaha FJR hat. Lots of color & different lines were used. These are very cool hats, btw. Also, there were hats from Bike Johnny. They look close to the typical FJR hat format except on the back of the hat it says: "FJROWNERS.COM"

Also, there was 1 POW/MIA hat. That was donated by "Tiny's Leathers".

Does this help at all, Mark?

Fred, will try to get to that. I thought my EOM duties were finished, though.

Also, a short "Google-ing" is going to find all of the vendors listed... except maybe Tiny's Leathers. Tiny's is just a small mom & pop type place. Also, the members that donated... you probably won't find them on the internet except within the forum.

You don't want an of their goods anyway, right???

Know what? I don't want you to have to do all that. The list is a good enough start. You're right, I can google them when I need them. But it would be great to put this list in a sticky in the vendors section so we can refer to it later.

Deal?

Most... probably not all, are in the preferred vendor section (the ones that were local to attendees are definitely not in the preferred vendor section)

I received a nifty set of jumper cables at the Eastern Owners Meeting of the FJR1300 Forum last weekend. My understanding is that Y’all donated them. Thanks for the neat gift and thanks for supporting our organization.
