I missed something.. I see where she's in the shop for the deer strike but when did that happen?

I need to cut back on me drinking :dribble:

Her damage repair cost is $6,300+ and I am responsible for $1K of that.
Really Don? I would double check your deductibles. You should only be responsible for the comprehensive deductible (not the collision) since this damage was done by an animal and not another vehicle. Generally the Comp deductible is half of the Collision.

I know that this was the case when my B4 lost all of her tupperware to a little white tail.

Earth to Bust, Earth to Bust: Seth and I aboard Gisele hit a mule deer at 50-55mph on Utah Route 12 "Escalante Staircase" at 0900 hours on October 13. ShinyPartsUp was behind us and escorted us back to the Inn at Torrey to recover, we were half way to Boulder, UT when we center punched damned "Bambi"!

Seth's leg was hurt, but he was fine in just a few days. We never hit the pavement, I managed to keep my hefty Fraulein Gisele up on her not so dainty feet. Carried the muley for a while until it swung to the side of the bike, thus impacting Seth. We and Gisele were towed up to Salt Lake City; flew home to AZ!

Many Thanks, Fred W! I printed this out and I will take it to my AAA Representative here in Chandler today; it would be nice to safe some money!

This is why You, ionbeam and RadioHowie are "The Brains of this Outfit"! Well, certainly not RadioHowie: I was just playing on a dog pile Friday!

Damn! That just suks... Glad to hear you two are no worse for the wear bud.

Did shiny try and mount the damned thing on the roadside?

Barry, I would have to assume that SPU, after rendering aid to us, did mount the deer on his way to catch up with the others. We were part of a group of seven riders, Seth being number eight as my passenger. MarcusOrelius, RPrice, Jim in Phoenix and the regular cast of Southwest Characters.

I have to once again thank Michael Mac, ShinyPartsUp, for coming to our rescue and especially for looking after Seth. As you know SPU works at a Veteran's Hospital and has Medical Training.

Shiny checked Seth out thoroughly for a broken leg and then iced down Seth's leg; kept him calm also!

Interesting. I think it is different here Fred. Maybe varies by state?

I am pretty sure that comprehensive only cover theft and acts of God like flood, fire, earthquakes, vandalism. Anything 'road going' is collision. Besides, with my policy with Progressive I also am fairly positive that Comprehensive has a $500 deductible the same as Collision.

In my case, it was with Progressive, and they were the ones that alerted me that it would be handled under the comprehensive (surprised me).

My Comp deductible is half of the collision. ($250 vs $500)

PS - a quick google shows it is covered as comprehensive, in most places anyway...

I have State Farm (in Washington) and was told that hitting a deer would be covered by Comprehensive. There are several deductible amounts available for both Comprehensive and Collision and are determined by the policy holder, they can be the same but do not have to be.

My Best Beemer Buddy Brian Boles picked up his new BMW K1600GTL, the AZ Beemers BMW MOA Club #89 is now going to have a Full Fleet of these K16'S!

Hey, look where I found the Victory Bonus Tag.  On my new K1600GTL.  Sorry that Tom isn't looking too grumpy, but hey, he's about to get that sizeable check in my hand.

Don...I know I told you before, but you should really think about going with the Akrapovic pipes instead of the OEM. Dean had them on the 1st K1600 they had. They were cool looking and sounded great. I also be you wouldn't have to wait till April for them.

Jeez Barry I am barley on the board any more and I knew they hit a deer weeks ago. You really need to get help. Maybe we can get you on the show "Intervention". I just don't know if they have rehab sheep fornicators like you.

.... *******!

Just because I was late and couldn't catch up with the group does not mean I was having some necrophiliac pleasure with that Buff Beauty with the white sock on her slim foreleg....

I deny it all!

+2 here. I've BTDT twice with deer, once on the bike and once with an SUV. Animal collision, at least in OR with Farmers, State Farm and Progressive, is beyond your control, thus not an accident or collision, but comprehensive. Most Ins. plans have separate ded. for comp. You may have opted, on purpose or because the agent was trying to give you better rates, for a high deductible on the comp as well as the collision, but most of the time a low comp. ded. doesn't cost you very much more in premiums. I had a $50 comp ded. and $1000 collision ded. at the time of my deer strikes. As an aside, Over the years I have had many windshields replaced due to rock damage where the Ins. Co waived the comp ded. because it was a 'safety issue'.

I agree with HRZ, forget about waiting weeks for OEM parts and go with aftermarket. Akrapovic, Arrow, Holeshots, there are lots of options if you hunt around. In some cases, if they don't make them yet, they probably will if you want to buy some, (Dale Walker has a pretty fast R&D for the Holeshots).

Good luck!

I've already got him on that track boys. Akrapovic are WAY too expensive - like $1800 freaking dollars! But he can get a set of Remus for the price of one of his OEM exhaust. I believe he is working on that.

Hey, I just read this. That was mean saying I don't look like the cool drink of water with a tight ***. I think I'm going to cry.
Hello Fred, johnny80s is extremely busy between Thanksgiving and New Year's with his "day job" up in Las Vegas, NV!

Why? Where you been, Johnny? Where you spendin' yo' time these days?

I sure hope it isn't work, or any such non-sense...
Sorry Fred it is in fact work. And I still pretty shook up about Reno John (aka ****** Bag Kitty) calling me a "Cut and Paste Post Whore." That was just out of line. :p
