Randy / MixedupMitch;

I am about to tackle this solution. I have re-read this post a few times but still need some help.

This is my understanding of the wires coming into the Blue Sea, Can you tell what the two are that I am asking about and correct me if I am wrong on the rest?

thanks

You have it all correct. The extra wires on the right are for an unimplemented power load - note, no fuse in the corresponding fuse socket next to the extra power lead.

Can't speak for Mitch as this is his pic. I think mine is a bit different as I think (I'm on the road and won't be back for a few days) I have 1 more negative lead wired on the power block than positive leads.

I'm pretty sure this is how I have it:

* + from the battery goes directly to the 87 slot in the relay

* the 30 slot in the relay goes to the main + on the power block

* - from the battery goes directly to the main - on the power block

* a negative lead on the power block goes to the 86 slot in the relay (hence, the extra - lead on the power block)

* the switched power lead (I used the rear running light) goes to the 85 slot in the relay

I used this as a guide https://www.canyonchasers.net/shop/generic/...agram-final.jpg

Thanks Guy's I should be in good shape. If not You'll be seeing more posts!

thanks

happy to help. was able to make it home earlier than expected and verified that my setup is different in that I do have 1 more slot wired on the - side than the + side due to 1 of the - going to the relay.

Well I'm almost there, only blew 1 15amp fuse so far! (Stupid mistake)

Where did you get you 12 volts running power from?

Would you happen to have a picture of it?

thanks

Well another sucessfull endevor thanks to all you fine forum members!

It took me quite some time but worth it. I put the BlueSea PDB unit under the riders seat (Thank-You Ionbeam for your gracious donation!), Also put the relay next to it, installed my autocom under the pillion seat.

Next week heated grips, and a shot at the CCS-100 crusie control, GPS and mp3 player and I should be done for quite some time.

Thank you all for your help.

Congrats! Glad it worked out well for you. You sure you don't want to share the story behind the blown 15a fuse?

well...............

I hooked up the wiring to the battery to power up the pdb. Yep everything working as expected. Then I thought I would re-route the positive wire on the pdb to make it look better. The wire also has the 30amp in-line fuse. So I tried to re-route the wire through the back of the chassis and

BOOM!! sparks everywhere. As soon as it happened I felt like an idiot. It only took out the 30amp fuse like it should have and that was it. I can't even call it a learning lesson becasue had I just took 2 seconds to think about what I was doing it would have been obvious that the fuse would have blown.

Oh well no harm!

REALLY stupid question here, why did it spark? Did it complete the circuit ie: ground to the frame/chassis? I'm doing my install today in same location and am just curious. Also, did you solder the connection to the rear running light as in RANDY's diagram? The last time I touched anything w/ electronics I was 800 ft underwater and promised myself i would forget EVERYTHING(oops) and seem to have done an excellent job at that! I've been reading these posts over and over to the point of nausea :puke: and still have some questions, other than the one's posted above, that is

1) Is it okay to just run ground from battery to relay? or do I have to run it from batt>pdb>relay?

2)is the blue wire lp running light or tail light

This one's a little off this subject, but still in the scope

3) Should i in-line fuse my powerlet in front?,it's only for IPOD and cell charger

thanks to anybody that can help

Not an expert, but, saying what i did/would do

1 - If you just run it to the relay, then you're not providing a common ground for your other farkles that you would plug into the pdb. This is assuming you use a 4-blade relay like I did. I think there are other relays with more blades, but, I don't know if one of those other relays provides the ability to 'forward' the negative to the pdb from the relay.

2 - I don't know what lp means, but, the blue wire that I tapped into is the running light (not the brake light)

3 - Will it go through the pdb or straight from the battery? If from the pdb, it's a bit of a 'belt and suspenders' type of protection, but, then again, $1.99 for an inline fuse vs. many more $$$ for the ipod or cell. Don't know if that's a realistic argument, but, I would put one on (since it comes with one anyway, right)?

After a couple hours of reading all 5 pages of this post over and over, I realized I'm going to need help with my 2006 FJR's electrical system. I just ordered the Power Plate from www.electricalconnection.com then I started doing all the reading. Looks like I should have ordered the Blueseas distrubtion block instead. Is it possible to use both?

Let me start with what all is going to be installed on my FJR: J&M cb/intercom/audio controller, Garmin 2820 navigation, Escort 8500 radar detector, Binder radar laser jammer, PHID lights, Mottolights, Steibel magnum horns, Corbin heated seats and a Scorpio alarm.

The Blueseas unit has connections for 6 fuses. They have another one that has connections for 12 fuses but it's longer. The Power Plate has 6 terminals and I believe it includes a relay.

Looks like I'm going to have to visit Randy and Mitch to try and figure this out. Would it be best that I order the 12 fuse distribution block or would that not fit under my rear seat?

Randy and Mitch, keep in mind I do live in PA, Philadelphia to be exact. I haven't gotten the FJR-AE yet but I'm trying to do all the ground work for setting up my farkles.

I have an 05 so the under seat design may vary.

I have both the 12 and the 6 outlet bluesea units.

The 12 will fit with a little modification.

The 6 fits fine in several places.

I posted the dimensions of both units in this thread

I will get by with a 6.

If there was a little more room a 12 would be nice especially with the list of things you want to power up.

Don't know if I'll get lynched by the electronic whizzes 'round here, but, with the 2 very low draw items (Garmin, Escort), you might be able to put them on 1 circuit??? Here's my thinking. 1 6-spot pdb in the front (Garmin/Escort, Binder, PHID, Motolights, horns) and 1 6-spot pdb in the back (Corbin, Scorpio, future farkles). For the front one - yes, I know only listed 5 items. Although there are 6 slots on the Blue Seas box, you take up an extra '-' terminal when you run a switched pdb similar to the diagram at the bottom of my very first post in this thread. Perhaps you could double up the '-' with one of the other items giving you the full 6 slots?

Anywho...I can swing by your place. I go to Wilmington pretty often and could stop by to show you what I did.
