Dang, Mike! I know you've a fan of the Cycleport gear, but doing this spontaneous crash test thing for them is just taking things way too far. <_<

You are practically our safety czar in the FJR community hereabouts, Mike. So I feel I have to tell you that this spontaneous behavior, besides setting a bad example, really lowers the achievement bar for the least intelligent of those in the rider community - goading them on to even less constructive behavior: "Head first slide into a guardrail post, huh? That's nothing! Anyone can top that. Here! Watch me do this next one - double summersault road slide in the pike position with rock wall quick stop!" Where would such behavior end? We have to set their sights higher than that! :(

Sigh. Heal well and fast, Mike. And above all, remember to be patient with yourself in the healing process.

YOU WERE NOT GIVEN PERMISSION TO CRASH! We have discussed this in detail before. Only after requesting permission, and giving detailed plans as to where, when, how, what bike and what Hospital ER entrance you plan to crash at, would you be allowed to crash.

Well, ****, I'd have vetoed that permission for poor site planning if I'd been asked. Like I said, if he'd held off another 100 feet or so, he could have slid into and across a nice level dirt turnout, come to a stop with a beautiful view of Rollins Lake and considered the results of his Cycleport gear test from a sitting position without destroying his helmet.

I really like the idea of getting that jacket fixed for him. It's in my garage right now, and I'll check it again when I get home, but from my initial inspection, I'm pretty sure they only cut one panel, and maybe some trim. Shouldn't be too much trouble to get it back to Cycleport to replace that panel and put it back together in nearly brand new condition. (It WILL require washing to get the dirt out of it, but otherwise, I think it's definitely do-able.)
exskibum,This is a great idea! In past chats with him, Wayne had cited previous cases where he had received EMT-opened gear. The stuff is tough to cut and the EMT folks tend to be pretty efficient about it, so the garments are usually pretty simple to repair. You'll need to call cycleport for an RMA number, (800) 777-6499. They'll issue this over the phone. Then just box up the jacket and sent to:

Cycleport
340 Rancheros Drive, Suite 184
San Marcos, CA 92069
Be sure to put a note with the RMA number and return address in with the garment. You can shake out the dirt, but save any washing until it comes back. And if you can, perhaps take pictures of the jacket for Mike's scrapbook.

If you PM me with the RMA number, I'll contact Wayne and be happy to pick up the cost of the jacket's repair. Let me know if this work for you.

Cheers.

Mike.

Sounds like ATTGAT saved you cat...... ((ok I have nothing to say that has not been said so that was my best lame stuff there))

Heal my friend.... My prayers are for you now.....

Quick update… visited Mike today who looked good and is off the morphine. He said now its just muscle relaxers and was groggy from a bad nights sleep but very coherent with a positive attitude. Wanted me to post up that he’s fine, appreciates everyone’s concerns and prayers. He started talking about getting his bike back together and future rides so other than his body being banged up he’s right in the head! :yahoo: He told me he is now scheduled to leave the hospital Weds.

Exactly! He needs us to be there for him and tell him these things. Otherwise he picks really bad spots to crash. Mostly we should just give him a stern NO when he asks if he can crash. ;)

Thanks for the update, Brad. What great news!

Makes me think about you heading home like you did that day from Calaveras all by your lonesome....! :glare: There's safety in numbers. You wouldn't even take the granola bar and nuts Silent and I offered you for when you got pinned under a tree for a week, before having to gnaw your leg off at the thigh with only your teeth. :(

I saw him late tonight. There is a huge difference between now and what he was like the day of the crash. He is more alert, sitting up straight, able to converse, and get mad at me for making him laugh. Yep, he's sick enough to think I'm funny.

He'll be go0od 'ol Mike again

NEWS FLASH

Rib is not broken, arm is not broken, neck fracture is of a unimportant part of bone, and minor. Scapula is a minor hairline. Better than we thought.

:)

Not to worry, gents. I shall be arriving at Sutter/Roseville tomorrow to minister the appropriate lectures... Wait. They have drugs there, right? Uh, never mind. Maybe I'll just snuggle up next to Mikey and go for an intravenous drip of morphine and blame the road engineers for placing that damn curve where they did. ;)

Could someone PM me the details of mikes last name, room # ect?

Sweet. I am so glad it is looking better.

He is a man that gives so much and asks so little........

I will buy him a beer (not laced with morphine so relax Tim) the next time I see him

You'll get to drink it. Mike doesn't drink. I think he likes Key Lime pie. :)

I've been out of town from Friday until last night. I too thought this was an old thread from Mike's first get-off... crap. Way too much of this lately. Prayers heading your way Mike.
