Oh man...
Sorry to read this Mike! :(

I have been in Fernley NV visiting my mother for the past 11 days, And i could sneak over the hill and say hello... We gotta show the support when we can for our riding brothers and sisters , And this community is damn good at it too! :)

Could someone PM me the details of mikes last name, room # ect?

Thanks,

Adam
Just PM'd ya.

YOU WERE NOT GIVEN PERMISSION TO CRASH! We have discussed this in detail before. Only after requesting permission, and giving detailed plans as to where, when, how, what bike and what Hospital ER entrance you plan to crash at, would you be allowed to crash.

Well, ****, I'd have vetoed that permission for poor site planning if I'd been asked. Like I said, if he'd held off another 100 feet or so, he could have slid into and across a nice level dirt turnout, come to a stop with a beautiful view of Rollins Lake and considered the results of his Cycleport gear test from a sitting position without destroying his helmet.
Should we have a new thread, with requests for crashing permission? A committee of sages would be convened to deny all requests, except ZSD's with strategically placed trees. Permission for these events will only be granted on condition of video footage being made available afterwards, for the entertainment of other forum members.

ok... I got the info about Mike (thanks andrew and Roger) and i will be there about 3pm. If anyone would like to meet me up there, That would be fine also.

Adam

Quick update… visited Mike today who looked good and is off the morphine. He said now its just muscle relaxers and was groggy from a bad nights sleep but very coherent with a positive attitude. Wanted me to post up that he’s fine, appreciates everyone’s concerns and prayers. He started talking about getting his bike back together and future rides so other than his body being banged up he’s right in the head! :yahoo: He told me he is now scheduled to leave the hospital Weds.

Great news. Sounds like the helmet saved his life.

WOW, I guess it pays to check out the whole board for posts. I read this and it was like someone hit me in the chest. Pretty much more than I can take hearing this kind of info. Real glad Rich and Steve were with Mike and the way everyone responded to the scene and the way Mike is healing is no accident. Kudo's to Andrew for takin care of getting Mike's bikes and everyone involved. The Man upstairs is lookin out for his kid. Get well my friend soon and a full recovery is in order. Prayers to you and your family. Del. <><

Mostly the answers will be the same to crash requests - NO, or Yes, but only at the track in race leathers, with NO SOLID OBJECTS IN THE WAY. Off road situations come under the purvue of the Adventure Rider forum, so they can offer sage advice in that venue. ;)

****-Fire-Rosie dude !!! Heal up fast, sending good vibes from south tejas...and if theres any left over meds.... !!!

Blessings,

Bobby

Just saw this and Mike I hope you recover fast and get back to normal quickly also.

Great to hear his gear did it's job.Just goes to show that the price you pay for the good stuff is worth the cost and really invaluable to all of us.

Glad to hear he was with some good buds from here who took good care of him, hats off to you guys.

Saw this only minutes ago too, looks like my prayers have already been answered ! Hope the recovery goes as well for you Mike.

Good people deserve good friends, great job guys, no wonder Mike hangs with you all !

** Update ** As of noon today

We left Mike in good spirits but real tired. He managed a walk of about 100 feet today and that was all he could managed before making back to his bed, completely pooped out - this per Mike, we didn't see it.

More tests this morning revealed a number of cracked ribs that the Docs didn't see previously. Ribs are all in line, just cracked laterally, how many ribs they didn't tell him, and if they did, the muscle relaxants dulled his memory. Poor guys in pain, laughing is a no-no. We left him smiling and drifting off into space - good place for him right now.

He's looking at Thursday for a discharge, but ?????????

Mentioned his safety gear (Cycleport) to him and he wants the insurance Co. to look at it probably, so hold off on a "cash for gear collection" right now.

Word has it that Tim & Andrew will be looking in on him later today, maybe more updated info then.

Oh - he intends to post a pic of his helmet when he's back home and able to - should be an eye opener.

I wondered about that. I took the armor out of it and it's clean, drip drying in the garage. Everything else is packed up in a box.

One of the pieces of armor in the jacket is missing (front breast area). I would swear I saw it at the accident scene as they put him in the ambulance (it was liberated when they cut the jacket off him and I remember seeing a small chunk of it missing then). As a last act on the scene, Steve and I gathered up everything, even the litter from the EMT supplies and put it in my car, and while I don't remember picking it up, I figured I had it in the garage in the stack of things that were in his luggage when it disintegrated. I went through everything at lunch and it's not there, though. Either it got into the ambulance with his helmet, or got carted off before we picked up at the scene.

The Cycleport pants are in good shape with one exception: a minor pulling apart of the seam in the crotch area, but otherwise pretty much ready to wear.

Glad to hear Mike's doing better, and thanks for posting the update. I haven't pestered him, figuring he's had plenty of visitors and needed rest. (In addition to helping Judy move on Sunday and taping drywall at a friend's after work this week.)

I will be interested to get a look at the pics of his helmet when I am not otherwise so distracted that all I could do was look at it quickly. I'm sure everyone will see why it was that I said I'm sure it saved his life. I can't say for sure, but given where he was lying and the marks showing the way he got there, I think he hit that 10 x 10 guard rail support (and the reflector on it) with his head. That is one tough ol' bear!

Mike kind of remembers the hole being in his helmet at the top and to the front ?? He KNOWS it saved his life. :clapping:

Get better, dude.....and quit following our footsteps.(crashclub members, that is)

I don't know how I just finally saw this post, probably something to do with working the past nine days, but Mike I hope you are healing well, will be good to see you get back on the road again. Speedy recovery!

Eric

Or, one could just click on the "View New Posts" link in the upper right area just under the banner on every forum page. It'll show every bit of activity since your last visit, even if it was nine days ago.

It never ceases to amaze me how people have such a hard time navigating this forum. It has to be some of the very best forum software out there, yet....
