You simp ***!! That's Adam " galaxy Blue" here..
Reno is ghey'r lookin' .... Actually I don't think he really exists much like Scooter.

They both had a month plus to make a date with me this fall, and neither did.

I say both **** ain't real.
I know that's adam, dude.........Seen him live in reno......struttin' his stuff...........or....ok...just "stuff".......

............main underlying question...........why is reno911 on an fjr which sits on a trailer?
I believe Adam was Blue because he only got half an oil change done. He opened up his oil pan but couldn't get all the pieces back together again so he could refill it. IIRC, he also mashed his Muzzy.

I'm gonna disagree here.I think this can be welded. I believe a good TIG man can fill that hole once it's been dremmel-ed out a little, without distorting the cylinder liner. That large pocket that separates the damaged area from the cylinder sleeve will effectively prevent warpage issues near the sleeve.

I will survive.

However, I will agree that some JB weld should fill the hole pretty well and will probably suffice. The damaged area looks to be far enough from the sleeve and its heat to allow the repair to survive.

You might be right but I look at a pretty good TIG man in the mirror every morning and he isn't willing to take a chance on screwing up a part that is very hard to replace.

It's been my experience with aluminum castings that have been around chemicals the sucess rate on welding goes down. Aluminum is porous and tends to absorb stuff that gets ugly when hit with a TIG torch. YMMV
I hadn't thought about the contamination with fluids issue. Looking at that jagged hole, I see what you mean. It's not like we're talking about a 10 dollar part here. What did ja decide to do with it?

Probably JB weld. I need something that I can dress down without to much effort. I don't want to damage the surrounding gasket surface. 90% of it is not under the gasket so in reality it could stay the way it is.

Wow - not much time these days, working 72+ / week at the local nookie plant.

Check out how absolutely phooking bitchen' the powder coating of the engine components turned out!

I'm waaay stoked, and while cost *is* an issue, this decision to powder coat, not paint, is well justified IMHO.

Powder coating is back, and it looks AWESOME!

Check this out - truly fooking amazing. Most impressed.

Enough of the yakkkking - to the pix, Boyz!

Entire thread here

It was Ray's idea to black out the cylinders. I'm thinking it will lood really good once the engine is in the frame - to have a bit of a different look.

Hubba Bubba, Hubba Bubba!

If the bike nerver runs again, I'll take the engine and put it on a coffee table as a conversational piece!

Hell !! If it's gonna be a table ornament I'll just sell the rest on ebay. Parts for these things are spendy.

Wow, just think of the weight saving with no internal components!

Seriously, that's mega-snazzy. So how's the rest of the bike looking??? Is the rest gonna be up to snuff when this motor arrives????

What with prices of used KZs running 1500 to 2500 (from the little searching I did) that there six-cylindered beastie should bring some nice scratch on Cycletrader.

Christ on a crutch!.....imagine how that thing will sound...EYHO CBX
Interestingly enough, the two bikes sound very different. The KZ sounds like a chevy 350 on steroids. Not a typical 4 cyl wail or shriek, which the CBX tends to emulate.

As Ray mentioned, parts are very spendy. This one is not for sale. Well, wait, yeah, everything has a price!

Hey Don, I saw this CBX on the road yesterday. Damn, that header for the 6 to 1 was a work of art.
Awesome! I've been wondering if I can graft this onto the Quacker..
