I'm hearing how tough it is...I'm pulling for ya!

Don't count the days...just take each day at a time. No looking backward...only looking forward to a life free from addiction (well, atleast the tobacco part). :)

Just take it a day at a time. The rewards are well worth it. I quit in 83 and the only thing that was harder for me was giving up alcohol but I was way to good at both so it was worth it. :)

I quit 30 years ago after being beaten up by my doctor pretty bad about being pushed around in a wheel chair with an oxygen tank strapped on my back. He said I didn't strike him as the kind of guy who would be comfortable with that.

Ultimately, the best avenue of strength was to admit to myself I had a disease and every day I smoked I would get sicker. I was denying my family their opportunity to have a vibrant and healthy leader. By not smoking, I would be getting healthier every day. The thought mechanism of "giving something up" (negative), has to be replaced with "gaining health and enjoying life more", (positive).

I know, I'd rather face three guys with straight razors than go through it again. But, you can do it and each day that goes by you will know you are a better man for it.

It should also be noted your sexual stamina and frequency will increase due the improvement in your cardio-vascular system. Who can argue against that?

When she was a teen she hated my guts ,,, thought I was the devil at least,,,Now we are very close,,, she rides MC with me ,,, shoots with me,,

and we even go shopping together,,, wouldn't be teens if they didn't hate their parents
Thanx for the reminder O&S...

Have two devil daughters

Oldest, Emily, is 15 and 10th grade...mirror image (looks, personality, and disposition) of wifey

Youngest, Mary Beth is 13 and 7th grade...like I'm looking in a mirror

Thing is... in a very short time, I was pushed off the pedestal and the landing was quite abrupt and painful

Went from being God himself to nothing but an imbecile <sigh>

Ah yes, again, it's the circle of life.

You guys should try the stepdad method. Holy crap, talk about heavily weighted towards embicile before you even get started!

I had one of them convinced otherwise before he got out on his own. I think he found out I was always right in my predictions of his grandiose plans.

He "bought" a motorcycle without transferring the title. "I have a deal to give him $X a month till it's paid." "Yer gonna get screwed!" He got screwed. Bike title was pawned.

He bought a '73 240z that was nearly rusted through, and it had all the fuel injection removed and a 750cfm (!) carb adapted to the intake manifold. Told him it would cost twice his purchase to make it drivable. When he reached half of that he gave up and sold it to a friend of his who abandoned it in NC somewhere trying to make Wisconsin. (!)

He decided I might know something about this stuff after all.

The girls have not figured it out, although the older one at 23 is starting to come around. The 17-year-old is not even close. Might be the fact that I don't see MTV reality shows as actual reality, and they do.

Renegade,

Keep on truckin ! I wasnt using my story to scare ya...you're a bonifide motorcyclist and we dont scare easily...its more like stop before you do anymore hidden damage...once it goes downhill at our age, it aint so easy to get(it) back up...Its about quality...not quantity...how much will it suck to ONLY be able to watch bikes on friggin TV...MI's and strokes do that and there are no guarantees in this life but I promise you'll feel lighter when that little monkey gets banished from your back...and theres always the upside that you'll probably succumb to some other suckass addiction but you'll have a nice smile and that silly ringworm looking thing will be gone from your ***...eventually...plus some numnuts such as myself will not accidently slurp down your vulgar oral secretions by mistake while on a break between sets at the next gig...oh yeah...i got me some blues....6 DAYS...It does get easier...keep going !

Blessed,

Bobby

BobbyBlue, your story was the most horrifiying of them all, Keep up the good work! Made me think! Damm!

Was all your health issues due to the use of nicotine products?

Hey Renegade, Howya doin' man ? If ya fell off the wagon its all good, just smoke up (or chew down? ), dust off and get back on with the rest of us crazies.

And thanks Pioneer ! And no it wasnt all nicotines fault...bad genes, tons of stress, weed, alcohol, more alcohol and a really bad diet plus my ex and military career both ended the same...with a bad discharge, but I've gotten up 1 more time than I've fallen down so far so its all good !

Renegade..that better be chocolate chip cookie drool !!!! OK then..as you were...gentlemen.

Blessings,

Bobby

I am hanging in there. This week is worse than the first, mostly due to work related stresses... (We're about to lay a bunch of in the next two weeks) My job is safe, but I'm going through the mental exercises of justifying how to keep my guys, who can take pay cuts, etc, etc.

I absolutely ******* hate this ****. It's the worst thing about being a manager.

I'm buying stock in Sunflower seed companies, specifically Davids[tm]. It seems I'm now addicted to them :)

Using a patch now and then to get me through the day... I had really hoped the urge would have subsided by now but that's not the case. My cheeks and jaws are absolutely worn out from gum and sunflower seeds.

But other than that I'm ready go riding when the fooking weather breaks.

Good on ya Renegade. yer surviving. at some point in the future, that surviving turns into thriving with no urge.

You and your family will be the better for it. Just tell yourself that you have NO CHOICE...you CAN'T go back through that door that you passed through. Done. Finito.

I was thinkin' about ya today and hope ya surviving ya nicotine sobriety, but if not, that's OK, there's always tomorrow to work on that if ya put ya mind to it.

Sunflower seeds can be a real GOOD thing...cheaper in this economy and taxation direction for ya

Maybe put the money that would have been spent on cigs in a jar and down the road when ready and successful, have a farkle ya been really wanting paid for from that and can happily and contently purchase and install it as a symbol of ya success in this matter

Well, just wanted to shoot ya some encouragement and ask, if ya want, how it's goin'

<sorta understand if ya off the wagon from all the stress and bumps in the road from the Crash Bars group buy...that too will be successful over time and another great addition to our Feejer world>

Wishin' ya all the best, sir...

Cheers,

Almost 7 weeks for me now-from a 2 1/2 pack a day habit for 40 years to 0 aint easy, but I'm doing it, no cheats yet. This Chantix is da bomb.

Good for you, Rad...good on ya...hope ya tasting food and drink and "stuff" much better than before; good smellin' too

Seven weeks is wonderful and a great beginning to forever

Best to ya and your good, healthy future,

Mike in Nawlins'

Yeah so it's been what 8 weeks now? Since I tried to go Cold Turkey, sort of... Lots of crutches, gum, sunflower seeds and what not.

About 6 weeks ago I ended up at the Dr's office for what turns out was Bronchitis, and I got a prescription for Chantix.

That stuff is interesting, and very helpful.

So far so good. Did chew a little bit the first week I started taking Chantix, cause, the Dr. and the instructions told me too ;) That's my story and I'm sticking to it, but it does help despite the side effects... Mostly insomnia and/or very, very weird dreams.

Regardless of the Chantix though I still miss it. I don't crave it but miss it mostly out of habit. It's weird, I'll go for hours, even a half a day, certainly through situations I would normally dip an not miss it. Then I'll feel myself grabbing for the can, or wondering where I left it, etc.

But so far so good...

Oh and Go Radman Go !!!!!

Hey Ren and Rad:

does the sense of taste, smell, any other improve like they say it does (no experience on being nicotine dependent - my drug of choice is good ole Nawlins' food)

Cheers,

Mike

Great Renegade! :clapping:

I was wondering just yesterday how it was all going. Was gonna pm ya...but forgot. Glad it is going well (didn't say easy)! When I quit...things kinda came and went in waves...till the waves aren't noticed anymore....and you have a new great normal life without all the health/cancer concerns.

Yes, slowly but surely. Not always a benefit-some food is best left dull I have discovered. Those in the Army should smoke about 4 packs a day for example.
