I am looking into getting a replacement security screw for my ZUMO from this guy:

https://www.boelis.nl/index_bestanden/SecurityscrewEN.htm

He has pricing for up to 5 screws in one order, but i am thinking if we put together a large enough order, I might be able to get his price down some. Since the screws would be shipping internationally, I would have them all shipped to me, and then charge members a small fee to re-ship them to individual forum members. With the exchange rate at it's current level, the screws would be $8.25 each, plus any fees I would need to cover re-shipping the screw to individual members. The owner of the company is on vacation until the 3rd of August, so I would like to find out how many people are interested over the next few weeks, and then I can talk real numbers with the owner when he returns.

So, all that being said, I am in for 2 of these. I will keep a running tally to see what the total number ends up at, and then post what the final price would be based on that number. If we go forward, I will start another thread, and ask that members recommit to ordering a specified number. If you want to use PayPal, I would want to tack on enough to cover the PayPal fee's.

I have one (AND a replacement) already or I'd be all over this. This is absolutely a MUST HAVE item if you own a Zumo, IMHO. If you're even thinking about getting a Zumo, do yourself a favor and pick up a couple of these now so you'll have them.

I'd be in for two. I'm trying to find the damn screwdriver as it is.....

I've got a Street Pilot, but judging from the pic it looks like the same screw. If it is I'll take a couple.

I use mine every time I mount the Zumo. This is what Garmin should have used in the first place.

I see this guy has a link on his page for the older Garmin GPS (26xx,27xx,28xx) screws as well.

Does he sell them too or is it just a courtesy link to separate vendor?

It's hard to tell for sure.

I have a Garmin 2730 (not a zumo)

If he can provide both types of screws we could possibly combine the orders/increase the order quantity/lower our final cost

Maybe I'm missing something, but what stops someone from just walking by and unscrewing this?

Absolutely nothing... But the 'security screw' is a *****, it's so small and you have to carry a tool that's on your keychain which comes unscrewed and gets lost.

This is easy in/easy out. So you're more likely to take the zumo out and put it in say a side case where it's more secure anyway because it's easy.

I have one, they are great... Ordered from the same guy a long time ago. He ships via USPS and my first order never arrived. He re-mailed them w/o question. It seems they get eaten all the time by mail handling equipment.

And, there's nothing stopping a thief from just grabbing the unit and ripping it off the bike, mount and all.
