The best tribute to what a great man Don was are the kind and reflective words written about him on this thread/forum. One thing that strikes me are the photos that I'm seeing for the first time so I dug back in the archives for this. I hope others will dig deep for pics they have, as I'm sure many will enjoy seeing and remembering what a larger than life guy Don was.

Tyler, my dear, this one's for you.

A man who was bigger than life itself, made every person his friend and saw the humor in every situation. Bet he is chuckling now. So long Don.

My condolences to Don and his family. May Don rest in peace and find the best motorcycling road in heaven...preferably paved...

My Dec. 10 PM with Don:

Me: May be getting down your way in February or March (Mesa). Might buy ya a pint.

Don: Thank You Big Sky, looking forward to seeing you here in Arizona!

Don Stanley

Well, that meeting isn't going to happen and I regret it very much. It's like Pants recently wrote: "Do it while you're able." I am envious of all of you who actually did get to meet him. He surely had the biggest, and among the best, personality on this Forum. Here in Montana we like to say, "Well, he died with his boots on." Seems Don died with his flippers on and how can you beat that, doing something you love with someone you love when your time is up?

RIP Don Stanley. Maybe we will get a chance to meet yet.

Shit, shit, shit. Never had a chance to shake his hand, but he welcomed me through PMs and a phone call.

Rest in peace? I doubt it. If there was ever somebody who lived life to the fullest, he's the guy, and I can't imagine him resting anywhere.

I'll hoist a Guinness and pour some on the ground. JSNS.

My facebook post below....And change of Xmas-Eve plans. Debbie and I are heading home to gear-up for a Pappa X-mas Eve ride. Christmas will always be there, and we will postpone some of our plans today to do this ride. Maybe it's just fitting as well, as we are gifted w 70F weather today. Don's way of spreading the Chandler warmth!

VERY Sad day today learning of the passing of my Motorcycling and Sport-Touring Mentor (and just a truly great guy) Mr. Don Stanley from Chandler AZ. He was so supportive of my switching from the Yamaha FJR to the present BMW K16. Everyone else threw the jealous stones (and rocks) but, Don being even keeled on just about everything, took me under his wing. All of his messages and support will always be treasured to no end. You could never tell he was a few years older, either I came up, or he came down, didn't matter nor did we even think about it. We were on the same page, and that included life in general.

Wow, I'm so shocked and sad right now I don't know what else to say, but my heart and family goes out to all his loved ones and family, especially Donna, his love of his life.

My Ms. Debbie just mentioned that we should do a Xmas eve ride today in memory. Well, such a small thing, but I think he would of liked his friends to do a ride in memory of him. So for today... we will ride for Don. I will also purpose a group ride in his memory this Spring ('16) as well. He had tons of Bike Buddies, they/we all adored him. His Irish humor was a bit demented sometimes, but that's what made him "our own" Pappa Chuey!. We will do him proud in his name.

So my friend, ride proud up in Heaven, whether it's on a Yami, Harley or Beemer?.... who cares as long as you're riding my friend. (that's always been your logic, at least towards me!) RIP.

Wow! Such sad news. Don will be missed. He left behind a lot of friends and many good memories.

I am up in the mountains (Papa Chuy would have approved) and just now heard the terrible news from Pinhead (Dave C).

Ride on, mi amigo.

Big hugs to Seth and Donna.

What a shock!

Just saw this. Most sincere condolences to Don's family.

Definitely a big hole left in the FJR family also.

Shocked and saddened! I met Don in Fredericton NB at a CFR rally a few years ago. Always hoped our paths would cross again. Perhaps in the next lifetime.

RIP Don!

What I know about Beemer Don is what I read on the forum. With that in mind I'll tip an Irish in memory of him. My sorrow for his friends and family.

Just do the steps that you've been shown
By everyone you've ever known
Until the dance becomes your very own
No matter how close to yours
Another's steps have grown
In the end there is one dance you'll do alone

Into a dancer you have grown
From a seed somebody else has thrown
Go on ahead and throw some seeds of your own
And somewhere between the time you arrive
And the time you go
May lie a reason you were alive
But you'll never know

--jackson browne, for a dancer--

Just horrible and shocking news. Ironically I learned of Don't passing in the catching a connecting flight at the Phoenix airport. Don would give you the shirt off his back and share his home and motorcycles with forum friends of whom there are many. This place will not be the same. RIP Don.

Speechless here !! This is unbelievable !!
R.I.P. Don .. condolences to all his family and friends.

Rog n Deb :-((
Roger,

Even though Don played fun with the Irish/English thing, he loved you guys, I'm not sure he considered you English...and loved to poke Fairlaner and mcatrophy...in a joshing friendly mcy buddy way.
