BeemerDons is laughing too hard at all the Patriot fans to type. However, all you have to do is point and mention he is a Zonie Cardinals fan and that will shut him up.

What kind of clear headed person would name a football team after some stupid bird. You would kill a cardinal if you ever hit it with a football. Seagulls are a way tougher bird and you can kill them with a baseball. Just ask Dave Winfield.

I suspect the Colts. They were only out scored by 10 points when the balls were under inflated. They were out scored by 28 points when they were properly inflated.
I suspect Colts mgmt doesn't want to win, they could get too successful and be expected to pay their own way more. Look at their disastrous draft this year for proof. Makes one wonder if they want to win or not.

^^^^^ Brady's balls may be soft because they are worn out... The league only lets you kick new balls, you play with used balls.

Players in the league have suddenly started to remember that Brady has had soft balls since as far back as 2004. It’s amazing that the various centers who handle Brady’s balls on almost every play have never, ever, noticed or commented that Brady has soft balls. On every play, a runner or receiver handles Brady’s balls and never, ever has anyone commented about Brady’s soft balls. Even retired players with bitter memories of the Patriots from their ruthless cold, business like personnel moves have not come forward to kick Brady's soft balls. What’s more, usually 2 or more officials handle Brady’s balls after every offensive play and not one has ever commented on Brady’s soft balls. If Brady’s balls are that soft you would think that it would be offensive enough for the officials to notice at some point during at least one season.

How is it that Brady’s soft balls are so stealthy that nobody has *ever* commented about them, yet they are even better than Popeye’s spinach at imbuing Tom with Super Hero abilities? Is it possible that Tom has an arch enemy, a true antithesis that over inflates the balls and becomes a Super Nemesis? The Super Nemesis with hard balls would be the teams playing against the Patriots where they have the football stick to their receiver’s helmet in the end zone for a game winning touchdown. Or, where the ball gets batted away from the receiver, the receiver falls down and the ball bounces back and lands on his stomach for a catch and game changing advancement down the field.

So, the NFL is going to punish Tom for his soft balls. Now he has to find another way to cheat because it’s the only way they can win. It may be time to watch his shoes for razor blades, his hands for stickum, his helmet for subtle spikes or even a custom jock printed with lucky shamrocks and a fur lining for his soft balls.

Now-now Brother Don, let's be kind and compassionate to our misguided and delusional FJR Forum Friends who support the Patriots cheaters from New England! JSNS!

This thing is far from over.

The NFL Players Association have appealed the league's decision on the behalf of Brady, and requested an independent arbiter.

The Patriots have a highly capable law firm on retainer (Morgan Lewis), and a senior partner for that firm (Daniel Goldberg) sat through all of the Wells Investigation interviews with Patriots personnel.

Goldberg has already published his reply to the Wells report (The Wells Report in Context), and, basically, torn it to shreds.

They have fully credible scientists (unlike the buffoons hired by Wells) who have detailed scientific explanations as to how the balls measured what they did at halftime without any tampering with the air pressure.

Brady refused to hand over his cell phone under the advice of counsel and the NFLPA. Not because there was condemning evidence, but rather because it represents a bad precedent for other players in similar investigative situations in the future.

"More probable than not" in the Wells Report is a subjective opinion, not a preponderance of evidence.

In the event that the entire situation is not reversed during the appeal process (which it probably would with an independent arbiter) it is quite likely that Brady will sue the league. That is an option for him, and based on available evidence, he would most likely prevail. While the team cannot appeal league penalties, individual players can represent their own interests.

This is most likely going to be Goodell's swan song.

Really doesn't matter what Brady does now. His image is forever tarnished. Yesterday, AJ Feely a former teammate and back up quarterback came out and confirmed that Brady has been tampering with the balls since 2004 which was before the rules were in place that actually allow the QBs to prepare the game balls.

Do you seriously think Brady will go to court where everything becomes discoverable? The text messages that the league already have in their possession, I would venture to guess, have both sides of the conversation on it. The only thing the league wants to confirm is that it is Brady's phone that was used. Since Brady didn't want to cooperate, the league had no choice but to believe they were in fact from Brady's phone which leads to the conclusion they have. If not, how deep will the Patriots go to invent a story to feed a conspiracy theory that the league is out to get them? Before this came to light, wasn't Kraft and Goodell best of friends??? This is better than a nasty divorce.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't ironic during the last CBA negotiations that it was Kraft who pushed for the Commissioner to be the person who appoints the arbitrator and there is nothing that says the arbitrator has to be neutral. Now Kraft and Brady are complaining about the arbitrator neutrality??? Bet they never saw that one coming...

For me the whole thing is hilarious. Kraft is actually subject to the rules and procedures he helped put in place and whining about it.

As a team owner, Kraft cannot appeal league rulings. But players can.

And yes I think Brady would turn over his cell phone (in court, not to some fly by night investigators) because they already have the other side of everything he ever sent to the equipment manager. Brady never said he wanted anything other than for the balls to be at 12.5 psi. He never even spoke to the equipment manager about pressures until the Jets game where the refs overinflated the Pats balls to > 16 psi, and it was then that the pressure became an issue.

Brady never, ever had any conversation with the ball boy who is accused of doing the deed. He was not even aware the guy carried the balls to the field at every home game. He never gave him anything more than a couple of autographs, which he is renown for giving to anyone who asks. All of his communication about ball preparations, including pressure since the Jets game, was with the equipment manager, not the ball boy.

I have to laugh at people that think he was "obviously lying" because he of his obvious discomfort answering the questions doing the presser on the day after the Colts game. Of course he was uncomfortable. He was being blatantly accused of cheating by the press based on unsubstantiated rumors leaked from the league. He doesn't actually do a very good interview when the issues are not so sensitive, but people that do not follow the Pats regularly wouldn't know that.

In fact, Brady did cooperate with the investigation completely with the exception of not handing them his phone. I've already said the reasoning for not doing that, but obviously if he is suing the league for defamation and malfeasance he would do that. The two Patriot employees also cooperated fully. The Patriots declined to ask the ball boy (McNally) to return for a 5th time after they had forewarned the investigators that they could not ask this part time employee to take yet another day off from his real job unless they had some newly discovered evidence. The investigators said they had overlooked some of the texts and wanted to question him further, but they had the entire phone image from the beginning. Their ineptitude is no reason to make any one sit down for 5 days of grilling. And that is what Wells claims was "not cooperating fully. What a bunch of horse ****.

It is all too clear the the investigation team had reached a conclusion at the very outset, and then collected (and cherry picked) evidence that supported their supposition rather than making the conclusion that the evidence supported. Why did Wells conclude that the Refs had used the lower reading pressure gauge prior to the game, rather than the higher pressure reading one, when the referee himself said that his recollection was he used the higher reading one? Just like all the fans around the country that already hate the Patriots for their recent success condemned him based on the (inaccurate) leaked information at the outset.

As for Kraft and Goodell being friends, that is a joke. All the haters were saying that because they were anticipating the report would find nothing, because Kraft had been a supporter of Goodell in getting the Commissioner role, and because he occasionally invites him over when he is in town.

Goodell slammed Kraft (and Belichick) with over the top fines back in 2007 for video taping from in incorrect location on the field under the auspices that this was an integrity issue. Now he is trying to fleece him a cool million for something that even the investigators says just involved the ball boy, equipment manager, and Brady. Anyone who thinks they are pals is delusional.

[edit]

Ha! I love the meme that Don just posted above. It is yet another visual demonstration of the lack of intelligence of some of the haters around the country trying to denigrate Brady and the Patriots. They think that it was the weight of the ball that was at issue, because of the "12.5 to 13.5 pounds"? What a bunch of morons.

Just saw on the NFL network this morning that Goodell will be the arbitrator. In the last collective bargain the NFLPA conceded that point. The plot thickens.

Yeah, I just saw that too. That is just incredible. The person who hires an outside investigator who is either inept or under instructions to produce a clearly biased report, is now the arbitration judge too?

Oh yeah... this should be hilarious.

And Kraft will get his wish to have the commissioner appoint the arbitrator. Wanna bet he will whine about the ruling???

I really don't care if he cheated or not. But it is funny as sh*t to watch these rich guys squirm and complain about rules they helped put in place. The Patriot fans going silly about it are the cherry on top.

Kind of backfired on the Patriots as Kraft lead initiative to have Goodell be the commissioner...and now his judge.

I stand corrected. Kraft and the team can appeal the ruling. They have until next Thursday to decide whether to do that or not.

NFL executive vice president Troy Vincent was the one who handed down the fines after the Wells report, in a clear effort to distance the commissioner from that role and present the appearance of impartiality. Goodell has stated that he will preside over Brady's appeal.

The only problem with that according to the NFL Players Association is that Vincent has(d) no authority to levy fines under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. The NFLPA has said that they intend to call Goodell to testify at Brady's appeal hearing on this matter, meaning (obviously) that Goodell will have a conflict of interests.

In another Wells Report inconsistency, the text from the ball boy McNally where he refers to himself as "The Deflater" (happened only once, though the report would have you think that he did it constantly) was made in May of 2014. During the 2014 season the Patriots played the Jets at home and it was later discovered (after the game) the Patriots balls were inflated to over 16 psi. If he was already "The Deflater" back in May (as is supposed by the Wells report) how did that happen?

Or if, as is more likely, everyone only became sensitive to the issue of ball pressure as a result of that Jets game, just as Brady testified happened, then how was McNally calling himself "The Deflater" half a year earlier the least bit incriminating of deflating balls illegally sometime later? It may be that the incomprehensible story of it referring to weight loss is more likely than what the Wells report supposed.

This is either going to end up in court or Goodell will have to recuse himself from Brady's appeal, appoint an impartial arbitrator, and it will end up overturned. Either way, things are not looking too good for the Commish.
