Loud pipes don't save lives.

Driving 55mph or under doesn't save lives.

Wearing a flourescent pink helmet doesn't save lives.

Keeping *******-selfish-moronic-selfabsorbed phuckheads off the road saves lives.

IMO, the uproar (no pun intended) is going to get this overturned, and someone fired.

Flaunting illegal activity by a police department shouldn't be tolerated.

As suspected the HH club theory rang loud and true.
Or maybe it has nothing to do with being a HH Club Member, but merely one who appreciates a certain amount of quiet and finds that a loud bike (regardless of the number of cylinders) who feels they must "impress" everyone within a 2 block radius with the sound of their exhaust is offensive.

There are some restaurants I will not frequent because they are located near a busy intersection and the "loud pipes" crowd feels the need to interrupt our quiet repast, and that scenario isn't limited to the cruisers, the sport bikes also join in the cacophony.

Its the NOISE, not the brand. :angry2:

If it's too loud......YER TOO ******* OLD. CAN YOU HEAR ME?
Welllll.....I like my rock and roll music loud, but not so loud that the neighbors must call the local gendarmes. One picks the time and place for their enjoyment, and not necessarily a "captive audience" of innocent bystanders chosen because of the perpetrator's (violator's) need to feed his ego or improve his self-esteem at everyone else's expense. A little common sense, decency and courtesy would go a long way to improving the voting public's opinion of "bikers". But then again, the types that do create a problem probably do not understand that the noise laws will affect them, too. And those laws are coming, and likely to a community near you (or one you may ride through).

Technical question for Ponyfool.

Could a citizen somehow give the noisy officer a citation?

Something like a citizens arrest.

Perhaps with the help of a CHP?

C'mon, Ray! :glare: Even you must admit it isn't about "breathing", but about "the sound" (The Sound being part of the experience). Why else would those riders look around to see who is noticing them and feeling cool because they interrupted someone's interests. Its about being the center of attention of one's created imaginary world.

Something like that just happened here (not with pipes though) but I don't know California law.
