I talked to George, easier isn't the case as it was buried under the seat tray.

Better place maybe as it doesn't get as much moisture.

Next tire change while I have the forks off I'll poke around under the nose to find mine so I know where to reach if I ever have issues!

It's easy access on our 07's, Kevin. It's basically sitting ontop the plastic part of the nose fairing that would be hit by the front fender if it came up high enough. Here's a picture of mine that poorly shows the corrosion I found on a couple pins:

Another example of why it's good for ALL FJR owners to check their electrical connections and put some dielectric grease on to prevent future/further corrosion. Even though Gen II's seem to get the bad rap for electrical issues, I don't think Gen I's are immune to the green death if ridden in Pacific Northwet condtions.

Notice to all My tolerance towards the inferior Gen ll design has worn thin.. Therefore from here on out there will be a $100.00 fee for any of those electron challenged POS attending forthcoming tech days here.

Actually I think Andy should implement some type of bribe I mean cash penalty for those who pilot the labor intensive, motorized Rik sans

As it is written let it be known.
With Ray & I both being GenII riders and frugal Canucks who is now going to be sucked in to working on BikerGeek's POS GenI antique??

Finally: The Voice of Wisdom, Compassion, Intelligence, Tolerance and Reason has spoken out to the FJR Masses! As the "Albert Einstein" of our Fine FJR Forum RadioHowie always says: Yamaha -- Redefining electrical integrity since 2006!

<snip> Odd that they moved that relay back to where you can get at it easier, like it is on a 1st gen. Maybe they are listening?
Glad this worked out for Bill and he is on the way! I need another *buddy* front tire though...any of the PNW bunch with a decent take-off, send it my way.

Definitely not easier to get to Fred. Left side mid-plastic, ECU plug and then tool tray removal. Nose position is right there, hardest part getting the rubber hanger slipped back over the metal tab. ;)
