You guys do what you feel comfortable with I just have to know if your heading south to Mt. View, if you are I'LL BE THERE...
Hey petey,

As far as I know, we be comin' to AR!
I just checked the weather AGAIN and it is about a 30% chance on Friday, and the same on Sat. I think it would be best to stick with the plan. I just want everyone to have a good/safe time. Just like to say thanks for the pat on the back in the earlier post.

I will have FREE!!! soda, water, and snacks on Thursday. I have cable TV in the shop, and want everyone to enjoy themselves. I'm not a drinker :drinks: , but if you want a beer I have a fridge in the shop and the beer store is right up the road.

OK, so three of you have PM'd me asking for the route file, which I am happy to send. However, I cannot figure out how to do that with the FJR site email, because it will not allow attachments.

So, I PM'd each of you because you will have to PM back your email address, as I cannot view it on the site and need to email directly in order to send you the attachment. Anyone else that wants it will have to PM with their email address as well.

Smitty, you're a wild man with these routes! Some of these roads are marked on the MapSource s/w as dotted lines, i.e, like unpaved logging roads or something. I hope you know what you're doing man, because we the faithful will be following you blindly where possibly no man has gone before ... on an FJR anyway!!

I have been on all these roads. No gravel, all pavement. Some smoother than others, but all fun... :yahoo:

I'm still in. Now I just have to find a dry moment inbetween the rain showers to mow my lawns before I leave. Otherwise, I'll have to contend with a jungle when I get back.

BTW, if anyone wants to make the return ride on Sunday interesting, I'm up for that, too. I was contemplating having fun the back way to Bonn Terre if you plan on "playing" on the way home. In for a penny, in for a pound, you know!

PS: Galaxy Blue, I now know what you were talking about with the page hits in the lower left corner of the screen. Doesn't look like the pages are loading properly, does it. I don't hear anything, but I keep my volumn down below my tinnitus level.

That's an understatement. Now he's on a GIXXER, too. LOOK OUT! (And if you're like me, don't even try to keep up! )

This is THE Smitty we are talking about. Oh ye of little faith, Smitty hath wrought many riding adventures, never to disappoint. I assure you he knows what he is doing. However, we may not know what WE are doing, and possibly not understand how HE is doing what he is doing. Clear as mud?

Watching Smitty and Skinny Dave riding through curves in formation at about double the posted speed (or more) is a thing of beauty. These boys got some skillz. "A Riders". "Don't try this yourself at home!"

I just hope the moisture gets a chance to dry up, and that all the fresh chip and seal is washed off. He's not kidding when he says those MO and AR roads are rough on tread. But it is MC HEAVEN. Hope everyone has fresh tires. Gonna need 'em. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Well, maybe, just maybe, the weather forecast is not as bad as everyone is thinking. I go by the National Weather Service (NWS) as most other weather sites use their feeds anyway and, BTW, pilots use NWS as well. https://www.crh.noaa.gov/ifps/MapClick.php?...ate=MO&site=PAH

If you look at the forecast for Friday, especially in MO where most of the ride is, we are looking at a 30% chance of rain with Partly cloudy skies, perfect temps (60s) and LOW wind (3-6). As we move to Ark, chances for rain also declines as the day moves on as the front moves SE, so we will be riding away from it.

So, hopefully everyone is IN and we'll all get a great tour of Smitty's neighborhood!! (IF we can keep up with him). :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Personally, I start with my own weather page, then go to AOPA, then NOAA. NOAA has some really nice graphic predicitons of rainfall. Mostly, I just look at progs, but the best one's don't go very far out, timewise.

"double the posted speed"? So does that mean the ride south will be about 16 hours for those of us who ride at "normal" speed? :D

Nah, Smitty has to allow time for us slow pokes to catch up. That's why the ride is only about 300+, not 5 or 600. They get to take lots of breaks.

It's kinda funny. A few times, Smitty and Dave will be off their bikes at the next intersection, Dave already puffing a cig and Smitty off inspecting the flora. Looks like they've been waiting for hours even though it's only a couple minutes.

Around here, if the limit is 55 and the curve sign says 50, I'm pretty content if I can do 65 or so. Feel like I'm really cutting into the curve, without feeling that I'm "on the edge". Smitty and Dave just say "what edge?" :D

Stop Rocket, I ride like a turd on roller skates compared to Skinny Dave.

Here is a thought, and I think a very important idea.

Write down your contact info on a piece of paper and put it in your wallet. You know, the common stuff,

Name

address

phone #

who to contact if you get sick/crash/ect.

blood type, allergys , stuff like that..

Just in case you don't want to go home after riding some of the best roads in the USA. I will call your wife and tell her where to send your stuff. :yahoo:

I always carry contact/emergency info in my wallet when I ride...

I have a pouch on the left side of my helmet that as all my info. I got it free with a order from Cycle Gadgets. :clapping:

The offer for you to stay in my room is officially rescended.

Hey, don't let Rocket fool ya. He don't have Rocket in his moniker 'fer nuttin' biggrin.gif
Oh no, that is NOT true. I am merely fly **** on Smitty's turd on roller skates. The ROCKET in my moniker is because I ride an FJR and I'm building an F1 ROCKET kit plane.

Last time I went street riding with Smitty and Dave, Dave said I was "twice as fast as the first time" I came down. I went from VERY slow to just SLOW. Believe me, I am not worthy, and just skeert enough to want to survive the trip. At least my bike is set up a whole lot better. Still don't think I have ever touched a peg feeler.

And this time, I'll try not to fall off the bike at the gas station... in front of the hot chicks. I'm so swave and deboner.

Man, we are getting ready to get HAMMERED by storms up here. COME ON BABY, BLOW OUT OF HERE!!!!!!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

I still don't see anyone discussing the most important aspects of the trip. WHERE AND WHAT DO WE EAT? None of that Southern MO road kill like last time. Actually that BBQ joint on the Friends of Freddies Rally last September had some outstanding dinner rolls.

Matt - we had some pretty good storms go rumbling through the north side of Kansas City this morning. They are probably coming to visit you.

Well, is 3pm, and the rooms at the Anglers are paid for. I guess we will be in Arkansas on Friday!!! :p
