Hang in there Ray, you can beat this. Sucks that they are going in to cut on you, but at least there's plenty left when they are done.

Keeping good thoughts and sending good karma your way. you'll be bitching at the nurses in no time.

Dayum Ray... That sucks, but not as bad as it could. Like others, I think you'll be fine. Just give it time and don't do more than your body will let you.

Get one of those silver bells and ring it every time you need something.
If I tried that they would have to go back in and find the bell.:) :)
Full belly laugh on that one! Wishing you well in the procedure. Do what the docs tell you and take the time to recover. Remeber, meditation through medication.....

One of my friends had an eight inch section removed a couple of years ago for cancer. He's doing great, no side affects from the resection. Good luck

I hope your surgery goes well, Ray. My wife has been office manager for a gastroenterologist for 14 years so I get lots of details on all things colon. The reason so many people die of colon cancer is that they can't feel it and if they aren't getting checked, they could have massive growth before they catch anything.

The fact that your growth is pre-cancerous is great news. While colon cancer is one of the most fatal cancers, it is the most treatable. That's what makes colonoscopies so important for all us 50 somethings. Today's docs are really good at fixing things in the colon and you should be fine. My father-in-law had colon cancer and after a resection, hasn't had any trouble.

It's those of you out there who are afraid to get scoped that need to worry.

Take the epidural for post-op analgesia if it's offered (and if it isn't offered, ask about it).

Best wishes for a safe surgery, good recovery and successful outcome

Has the Doc called you back yet with a change of plans to having to take it via the back door?

A friend of mine had the same thing. The worst was having to stay off the bike for 6 weeks afterward per doctor's orders, precautionary measure not to pull the sutures and give the new shorter colon time to adjust. All went well, wishing you well, Ray.

My father had the same experience, at age 62 he had a section removed because of cancer (never had a colonscopy), spent a couple of days in the hospital, and then was on a no lifting/very light lifting schedule for a couple of months. He just took it easy and made a full recovery in about half the expected time. That was 30 years ago and he has had 8 colonscopys since and been clean every time.

I've had 4 colonoscopy procedures and this showed up in the last 5 years so I'm going to go to 2 year intervals to keep closer track for awhile.

I was on a every year schedule for four years until no more polyps showed up. Sure go tired of drinking that last gallon of stuff. Three years to go before the next one.

I mix the prep with crystal lite lemonade and keep it ice cold. I suppose 50/50 with gin would help but I would get lost and have to start over.:) :)
