It did not start. I need to go back in and check the timing marks again. I think things are a little off. I will let you know next week.
well, I'm bumping up close to doing it or having it done

how many miles on the bike, how many miles since last valve check, did this one or past valve checks need adjustment, approx how many and what (intake/exhaust) needed adjustment and alot or alittle?

just asking and thanx in advance,

Mike

Mike this is my first valve check at 33,333 miles on the bike. The exhaust valve closest to the cam chain was out of spec tight. The intake valve closest tot he cam chain was in spec but .006. I decided to to take care of both valves so hopefully on the next check everything would be in spec.

If you are mechanically inclined you can do this. Just don't make the mistake I did and pop out the cams. If you want to talk more about it PM your phone number and a time I can call and I would be happy to fill you in on everything. I am not going to have time to finish it up until later in the week.

Doesn't the manual show how to start from scratch on crank position and cam position for a complete rebuild? I'd start back there to make sure the cam to crank timing is good. Don't bury a valve into your piston.
Good luck.

Yes it does and I am going to go through it again. I think I am one revolution out of TDC. There is no valve to piston clearance issues as I was smart enough to turn the motor by hand before trying to start it.

Funny... I didn't think you were that smart.... Idiot!
