I only have a few hundred miles on my AE, but I have to say that I love it. It's been several years since I rode, so perhaps muscle memory used for shifting had faded and that made the switch easier. I find the shifting very smooth with the exception of 1st to 2nd. I'm still looking for the sweet spot on that one, but the rest are like glass. As much as I try to avoid it, I still hit some rush hour traffic and I really love the fact that I'm not working a clutch back and forth as we inch forward. Either way the FJR is a wonderful bike and I'm sure you will enjoy your new ride!
Shift from first to second at about 15-20mph and it's MUCH smoother. Shamelessly stole this advice from my ealier post about shifting. LOL

Thanks ugar-6, I'll try that on the ride home.
No prob. Oh, also, don't close the throttle to shift. I just get going about 15 mph and shift without closing the throttle even a little. Then in the other gears I just barely flick my wrist to shift. If you fully close the throttle it's not as smooth.

Brought Zoe home today. She's incredible. I haven't erased all of the "chicken strips" on her tires yet but I made a dent in them today. She purrs like a lion with those two brothers cans and is sneaky fast... I was stuck behind a cager for a bit on a nice bit of road and got an opening to pass legally... drop a couple of gears... "blip, blip"... holy **** I'm doing 90...

I LOVE THIS BIKE!!

Yes, you should by all means choose the machine that you already know how to operate smoothly. No point in taking a chance on learning how to do something new.
Really? Are you grouchy 'cause you stayed up too late or something? I tried it, I didnt like it. YMMV.
Take it with a grain of salt. He's just mad because he bought an AE.
