Difficult to see that loss tonight.

I've been a Canadiens fan since the early 70s. Boy those were some great teams in that decade. I'll always remember Ken Dryden leaning on his goal stick with that early mask.

Seattle has a history of beating the Montreal Canadiens in big games.

While we have not enjoyed a NHL Team here in Seattle, the Seattle Metropolitans were a professional ice hockey team based in Seattle which played in the Pacific Coast Hockey Association from 1915 to 1924. They won the Stanley Cup in 1917, becoming the first American team to do so. Seattle won the 1917 championship by defeating the National Hockey Association's Montreal Canadiens three games to one by a combined score of 19 to 3.

Keep Going!

We're just waiting for the 0 and 3, so the B's can make an earthshaking comeback like the Sox.

Oh really!? Boston can only generate luck like that once every century :p
Bill, would you like anything to drink with that hat?

I am clearly very biased, but I have to say that I am SOOO glad the Habs did not take this playoff series this year (even if it hadn't been vs the "hapless" Bruins) for a couple of reasons.

They (the Canadiens) are working towards making hockey into the same farce of a sport as soccer and basketball. Their players were constantly taking dives and acting for the refs to finagle penalties. Game 6 of the series was a complete joke. The only two goals that the Habs could muster was when the refs gave them 5 on 3 advantages! And in both cases on questionable calls.

It was sweet irony that in the 3rd period last night the Bruins go-ahead goal in regulation was setup by a flopping player. But then, rather than allowing them to win in regulation there was another questionable high stick call, giving the man advantage that would push it into overtime.

The Canadiens clearly have the better power play. The Bruins' is a joke. But the Bruins were able to control the game any time they were playing even. It would have been a much shorter series if it weren't for all the flopping and questionable penalty calls.

For Bruins fans, it doesn't really even matter much if they advance in the next round. We beat Montreal in the playoffs, and that makes this a successful season! :p

By the way, for those working on what their logo stands for, the H isn't for "Habs" or "Habitants".

And the "c" doesn't stand for Canadiens

I know that the Bruins consider it a great success to beat the Habs but really.... isn't that just kind of sad that you all realize that the Bruins have no chance of actually winning the cup.

I'm just breathing a little easier this morning that Vancouver finally woke up and got rid of Chicago. My Sabres are now gone but with the injuries they had no hope.

I'm still liking Vancouver to take the cup but you'll never find me laying money against the Redwings.

By the way, if we go back to the original post in this thread I believe we now have definitely proof that Old Michael is certifiably senile.

I didn't give them a chance against the Habs either, after they were down 0-2. You just never know...

Fred, I always make a point of reading your posts, even if they're on a thread that I'd find otherwise less than interesting. Why?

Because you're an opinionated sonofabitch, and I love that about you. I ALWAYS appreciate sarcasm, humor, absurdity, and bluntness, too. Again, you deliver.

BUT, when a sports fan starts talking about the officiating - in ANY sport - brother, you're reaching.

And just when I was thinkin', "Come on, Fred!",

... you go and redeem yourself with your "visual aid".

'fitter, I had a dream. Can't a fellow have a dream?

(To be honest, I was friggin' shocked when the Canadiens went up 2-0!)

Okay, moving forward, I'm pullin' for the pride of Northern California (the Sharks!) to surprise Detroit.

Sharks win the cup! Sharks win the cup!

Further proof of Old Michael's senility.

If RaYzerman19 see your rantings he will personally ride out out to LaLaLand and give you a 'tuneup' :nhl_crach: :nhl_fight:

Yeah so! And what's your point?  :D

BTW OM, you best be right. I'll go for a west coast team bring the cup to the left coast (the Ducks already did that for ya's ;) ). :yahoo:

My bitch isn't really with the refs, although they could help dissuade the flopping players by calling penalties against them when it is blatant. My gripe is with the players that succumb to that level of unsportsmanlike play just to win. But alas, it seems these tricks have permeated all of sports. Fans have come to accept it as the status quo.

I do what I can... :p

No. Actually -

"Club de Hockey Canadien"

That's correct, of course. I was under the impression that the Big C was actually two C's superimposed on each other, one for Club and one for Canadien. I think you can get that impression from some of the earlier logos (sorry no models for these):

The Sharks - they skate circles

around rusty Wings.

And it won't be too long

'fore that large lady sings

Yes, the San Jose Sharks

they's the team that impresses

Detroit? We're not sure

Were they in little dresses?

Pow!

I'm going for a ride.
