How bout this: We have 4,103 members as we speak. Now if 4,103, did I say 4,103? If we got otrfjr's service tag number and we "all" dialed customer service at Yamaha and complained about this whole situation, what kind of response do you think this fiasco might get? Duh. All for one and one for all, MAKE THE CALL! Kind of like calling your Congressmen and letting your voice be heard but a whole lot better. I had to go through hell to get my master brake cylinder replaced and frankly I'm tired of hearing about those here who have "only one model of Yamaha" and not to mention the "most expensive model" of Yamaha except maybe one of their boats, getting screwed and I think "our" voice's would be heard. I'll get off my soapbox now and back up to you Bob. PM. <><

Just caught this thread, VERY bad on Yami to only cover parts. This is obviously not owner induced. Whether by arbitration or mass phone call bitching, labor should be covered.

Yammi be representin' at da WooFoo rap award in da Salt Lake hood. Dat be da time to back up da homie. ;) Mebbe axt dem WTF?

OK, where is the Service Report number???

I'm in on the phone calling.

If you can't tell by some of my previous posts, I can raise some stink in a manner that will get some attention without making me look like the *******.

It's all in tact......

Maybe someone needs to PM "otrfjr" to get this number. I WILL TAKE CARE OF IT.

EDIT: PM sent to "otrfjr" requesting Service Reference number. It is up to him, if he would like for us to rally on his behalf regarding this ******** treatment by Yamaha.

I think the issue here is a car filter was on a motorcycle-I wonder what their response what have been if it was a non oem but a motorcycle specific aftermarket filter made for that bike and a manufacture statement that it met oem warranty specs. I purchase some valvoline bike specific 10/40 oil and it had such a statement on the bottle. What is of interest to me is the warranty rejection came from corporate indicating any such claim will be rejected if the dealer tells them a non approved part is being used. I dont think many (if any) dealers will try to slip anything by and take the chance Yamaha will charge back the repair to them .Not sure how the bike dealers work but I know the car dealers have to retain for a certain time frame failed warranty parts or parts related to failure for factory inspection if required.

Which would be a legitimate argument but for the fact that FJR's showed up at Yamaha dealers with Yammi oil and Yammi filters and Yammi everything, merrily ticking away, and dealers attempted (and occasionally succeeded) in charging owners for repairs. If he had had a Yammi filter on there, the Svc Puke would have come back with an "owner abuse" claim, and still refused to honor the warranty. ON A ******* BIKE WITH 1700 ******* MILES!!!! I also do this **** for a living, have for 30+years, and know how the game is played. Some dealers take care of the product, the owners, and corporate. Some are just lazy, will work only as hard as they absolutely have to, and rarely does owner satisfaction figure into the scheme of things, because come tomorrow am, another piece of pogie bait will come through the door.....

+1 in a big way....

I pretty much figured the same... No matter what, they'd have hosed him.

Nobody ever wants to fix a clutch under warranty, that's just the way it is unless it's clear that it wasn't made properly, even then they'll jump on the "End User Abuse" or "It's a consumable part, and you wore it out with your improper riding style".

I didn't catch that they charged him for labor... That's BS... Had I been in his shoes I'd have simply asked for the parts and said thanks, and installed them myself.

The bottom line is this dealer is not your friend.

correct on the abuse claim I was thinking they would have went there if not the filter-although I noticed another member had clutch problems on a new bike and changed oil and filter back to oem and they repaired his even though they indicated it was a possible item. I was a North America regional fleet manager for one of the largest if not the largest construction/oil field service company in the world. I worked with all types of oem's we had it all from golf carts/atv's,automotive/trucking to the largest Catepillar equipment and marine ships/equipment. I learned many things one thing being they all have descrinary(sic) money to cover suspect warranty claims or claims clearly not warranty but the customer is a good one and they dont want to make them mad

for $5 more I'll buy the OEM

Says it all......
Me too. And I'll keep it on the shelf and only install it if I need to take my bike in for warranty service. Otherwise it's a PureOne with it's cool blue paint that looks way bitchin' on an '05. Metalflake blue paint I might add....

Did I mention it's metalflake? How could it not be better?????
