I had no idea what the "Sunshine Coast" was, not to mention a "Tofino" or "Comox".

After leaning on Google, I'm all edumacated now, and still hope to make this ride.

(We're all staying at Barb's house, right?) :p

https://www.mtsma.com/ Thank you, ahchui! But Brother, I have go to get something straightened up with you: You fully expect me to ride with a FJR crew that consists of Niehart, Panman, Barabus, OCfjr, blufjr, DABRIT, MCRIDEROO7, Beamer Reamer, 650cent and SockMonkey? Hombre, I may have low standards; but Jesu Cristo, there're not that freaking low-ese!

Barb, I am going to hold off on posting any dates for SW-FOG 2010 until I see how this thread develops per the trip dates.

I really want to ride Vancouver Island again, to tell you how long it has been since I have been to the Island by motorcycle:

When did Alaska Marine Highway and British Columbia Ferries stop making a voyage up the Portland Canal to Hyder, AK and Stewart, BC? I had ridden up to Port Hardy on my BMW, then over from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert. I had boarded my BMW and was sitting in the lounge with my first Molson, when the Skipper announced that this would be the last ever public ferry voyage up the Portland Canal to Stewart-Hyder. That the Canadian and American ferry lines were cost cutting!

Wednesday night SkooterG, GSJane and "regular cast" of AZ FJR Forum members are meeting to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings.

BWW is just a mile from my house, I'll ask SkootyG to show me how to set up a poll in regards to timing of SW-FOG 2010.

1) August 26-29. 2) September 9-12. 3) Dates that will not interfere with Barb's Vancouver Island Run in early September!!

Don, it would be fantastic if you could make it up for this ride - don't mind the pie smuggler. Did I remember correctly that your sons alternate every other year? So perhaps brother of Seth? Maybe I'm still addled from the frigid ride the other week.

Regarding SW-FOG: Great to hear your helping/leading that this next year, our group is strongly considering putting that on our ride list for 2010. It will depend on dates of course but we have very strong interest and Taos is a great venue. I'll wait until you get a post going for that one to discuss further. Would be nice to somehow use the weekends on both ends for traveling. Hope all is well.

David
Good Day David! Great hearing from you again, my Friend. Yes, you are correct about my alternating the Motorcycle Vacation Trips that I take with my two sons, but it is done from ride to ride, not on an annual basis. For example: In March of 2009 I took my "Good Son" - The Love of My Life - thirteen year old Seth to Ireland for 10 days. We had attempted to rent a moto in Dublin to run down to Wexford for the day, but discovered that all of the rental agencies had 3-day minimum.

I reciprocated in April with my "Bad Son" - The Bane of My Life - 43 year old illegitimate ******* son SkooterG, and his sweet girlfriend GSJane - who made the trip worthwhile, by taking them to Puerto Penasco in Sonora, Mexico for the weekend. In May I also treated him to a Mexican food dinner in Casa Grande at Sophia's after a day of our riding FJR's.

In June, you know, Seth & I were in Nakusp, British Columbia for CFR 2009 with you and many other friends. Even Niehart!

July I took "Good Son" Seth to Johnson City, Tennessee for the BMWMOA International Rally. Also in July, I took "Bad Son" GregM to WFO-08 in Moscow, Idaho. I try not to show favoritism between my 2 boys, but Seth is "Good" and SkootyG is......

..."Would be nice to somehow use the weekends on both ends for traveling."... David, that really did catch my eye; as well as CFR 2010 being held midweek; I think that is absolutely brilliant! I've been a Chartered BMW Club Officer for 20 years and I often unsuccessfully lobbied and petitioned BMWMOA / BMWRA to consider having the North American rallies midweek.

Coming weekend I'll be partying, drinking, eating, riding and gambling with twenty members of our FJR Forum Los Robustos M/C Members in Las Vegas. Many of these bozos were also at SW-FOG '09 and certainly will be futzing up at SW-FOG 2010!

I'm going to poll them about our moving SW-FOG 2010 to September 16 through 19, which would free up September 9-12 for Barb to use for the Vancouver Island Ride. I also am going to poll these mooks regarding the consideration of midweek for future SW-FOG events, using your idea of preceding/following weekends for travel to/from locations such as Taos or Victoria.

Next Monday, I'll send a PM to Barb regarding what my pack of drunks has related to me. Will leave out Old Michael's personal message to Barb, of course. Hopefully, by this time next week: Barb will set her dates and I'll finalize SW-FOG.

Barb you confused me initially with the fish word but I know what you mean now. It sounds like a great idea and I would like to make the ride depending on the time of year. Early in the year and crossing the mountains can be touch and go. I will watch for more info as it is available.

John

I should of thought of that before joing eHarmony, DOH!

Babs, Babs, Babs...

eHarmony..?? Seriously?? And what exactly are you looking for, a gayed-up metrosexual in touch with his feminine side that thinks a bowl of popcorn, a mug of hot cocoa and "27 Dresses" on DVD is the ideal Friday night??

Give Biker Planet a try instead. Oh, and make sure you let us know how that works out for you...

No, not seriously, Marty........haha, gotcha!

Although, I will admit to a short and disasterous stint on Plenty of Fish(Sh#t). That was enough of an exposure to the whole meat market internet dating thing to keep me away from those sites, ad infinitum.

No metro's for me, or chick flicks......I'm sorta fond of Annie Lennox's school of thot, hehe

..........and, "Bikers" don't cut it for this chica, you brat! :bad:

Wowser, SockMonkey! Old Michael just called me on my cellphone, and damn: All four of our ex-wives are on that date site!

Yes, but "Bikers" are people too. It's their fashion choices I don't agree with... ;)

So is that 2 ex's each, or is one of you winning this contest..? ;) And the fact that all four are on Biker Planet says to me that whatever they said they didn't like about you at the time, there was at least one thing about you they did like!

Marty, you're married, you can't apply.

;)

Even if I wasn't married, I wouldn't apply. Ever. I have at least a dozen now single friends that play the dating sites (eHarmony, match.com, perfectmatch.com, etc.), and the horror stories they tell of their experiences are enough to kill any notion I'd ever have of signing up if I were single. No thank you...!

Back on topic, I will bring Mrs. SockMonkey to this get-together should it happen. We've been talking about doing a tour of Vancouver Island and this would be the perfect opportunity..!

Barb, September does sound great. Might be a good time for me to ride off the north end of the Island and get that Hyder ride in also.

Barb, is a reservation required for camping on Little Tribune Beach?(...or is it better to have no reservations?)

reservations strongly discouraged....*L*

Michael? I'm shocked, you've got the balls to go nekkid? wait, let me rephrase that...... :p

Actually, I can get you a private guided tour, if you be so inclined. The owner of the abandoned VStrom in my **** Garage practically lives there during tanning season. I can hook you guys up? hehehe

but forgawdssake, NO gawking. Just think? this could be your most popular report to date :dntknw:

My Gawd, Maun! OM you're going to show the Canucks "The Irish Shillelagh"? The "Hibernian Warclub" will scare the locals!
will we need high power binoculars??

It'll likely be 3-4 days, but there can much seen and enjoyed in less if needed...

Your SO might enjoy a romantic overnight in Tofino and a walk on Long Beach. The road there and back is a helluvalottafun :D
