I have to admit it's grown on me. And this is after I bought the set of used 2 Bros. M2s from Mark on Oregon.

WOT over 4500 rpm or so sounds pretty great.

So what are you doing with the 2Bros now??
Haven't even received them yet. But I'll install them and see which I prefer. I know the 2 Bros. will be lighter, and I'm anticipating liking the sound more.

Got the trooper mod today. Sounds great!

Took it on a short ride to "blow the chunks out". On the way up the hill towards home wife heard the new sound. She does not understand why I made the bike noisier... Oh well... It's a boy thing!

It's a guy thing she wouldn't understand. I still like it better now even more than when I first did it...and I thought it was awesome then.

I hear popping noises every once in a while - nothing to do with my bike, although it is gas-related.

More about being old and what I had for lunch.

I put a set of 2 Bros. on after the Trooper mod. If you're in New England and want the Trooper mod I'll swap you my modded cans for your stockers so I have stockers on the shelf. Any reasonable distance from 02904 and I'll meet ya halfway or better.

OK, I've put about 2k miles on the Trooper Mod. Added Garauld's black tail cones. This is a very nice set up!! The "cones" reduce the volume of the "popping" on decel a bit. Blew away several Harleys today on a little 250 mile loop from the house. I'm pretty sure they never saw me coming, but they definitely saw me "goin'". I'm thinking they may have even heard the "snarl" of the Feejer as it blew them away! They wouldn't have heard anything with the stockers.

The "mod" is extremely cool here in Southern Utah.................still!!

My gas milage has gone down since I made the mod. I like the sound in 4th gear so much I have a bit of trouble remembering to shift into 5th. I guess that would be my fault, not the Trooper mod fault. I can live with that.

Keep in mind, you will need something to keep the tube in place...
I really like this idea. It's kinda like a Staintune... use the 'spud' for a stock sound... pull the spud for more grunt.

I also took note of the one poster that used a hole saw to cut the baffle but left the inner pipe. That would probably compliment the spud idea.

I just did the "Trooper-stage 1 exhaust mod" yesterday and rode 255 miles testing/playing the loud handle!

The sound is just what I wanted, without cutting out the center pipe with a dremel.

AND I only broke 1 tooth on the 1 1/2 inch hole saw; Me put too much pressure on the drill when first

starting.

This weekend the wife is gonna kill me 'cuz she told me not to make "shipoopie" louder! Maybe she wont

notice!

Sound at idle has a motorcycle tone, not offensive- but i know its running without lookin at the Tach.

Thanks for the suggestion/ idea to only go Stage 1.

sully

yeah, well.....

I had named our previous concours c10 " turd" because I rode busa-s for 8 years.

shipoopie came from peter of Family Guy,

Dear Trooper; I'm another happy customer.

Did the mod, it was easier than everyone described, then added my new Garauld Satin Black Anodized tailcones and it not only sounds snappy, it looks snappy too.

Thanks to Trooper and Garauld...

OK, did the Trooper mod this morning, and am VERY pleased! :yahoo: I was afraid that they would be too loud, but that is not the case at all. The procedure was an absolute no brainer. The only thing I might warn against, is to be careful with the hole saw in the pipe. After I got through the first pipe baffle, I kinda wiggled the drill around to make sure I had cut all the way through. Apparently, this also broke about half the teeth off the hole saw, but I still had enough to get through the second pipe baffle! :victory:

I did a video of before and after, and with and without the tailcones installed. Now we have at least a relative comparison of the before and after Trooper mod in the same conditions. I think the tailcones dampen a bit of "flutter" sound that I think is from the exhaust creating turbulance around the small exhaust holes. Hope this works!!

Bringing back a dead thread!!!

I saw the first video of the Trooper mod and wasn't real jazzed about the sound BUT this video with the Trooper mod and the tailcones has me thinking.....

I think adding the tailcones takes a little rasp out and smooths the sound but with an end-result that sounds deeper and meatier than stock.
