For those sitting on the sidelines this weekend who'd like to follow my ride, I've listed by my SPOT and blog pages below. I invite other participants to do the same, thought I totally understand the reasons why you'd opt not to.

My itinerary is as follows

Thursday after work: travel to Salt Lake City

Friday AM: continued travel to SLC

Friday PM: tech inspection, tire kicking and a rally meeting

Saturday 7 AM: Start

Sunday 7 AM: Finish

Sunday 1 PM: Banquet

Sunday Late PM: Overnight travel home

BIODSL/Paul Peloquin

I took some admin license and added the ones I knew to Paul's list...so they're all in one place for everybody. Once I get to Utah and settled myself and Paul will probably come in and clean things up a bit. ;)

Headed out in the next hour or two....... :)

I left Reno this morning ...but don't seem to be getting any closer to Utah. Must be the GPS acting goofy or something.

I've left a link to my maps, including my map "TO" Utah HERE(CLICKY)

Not sure if I'll be blogging, but perhaps. I've created maps for the route there, the actual rally and the ride home. ..they are linked from the blog.

snap...this is happening this weekend??? If I see any other FJRs on I-80 I'll wave ... I'm just passing through UT (probably Sunday) on a BB ride from home to Portland.

good luck and ride safe!

Thanks for posting this, guys. It will help ease the pain of those of us who should be there, but can't this year. I guess an armchair rally is better than no rally at all. :( Say hi to all my friends.

Skooterg tried a new trick....you should all dogpile the shit out of him for.

He smartly tried some maintenance last week and bled the brakes with new fluid. He then carefully torqued one of the front calipers to finger tight foot-pounds.

And somewhere between Phoenix and Milford, Utah his caliper bolts fell out. The caliper rested on the rotor and made this nice groove.

Another angle of the depth of scoring.

He actually only figured it out when he back of the bike and the caliper rotated the other direction and stretched the hell out of his brake line. It loosened the banjo bolt and leaked a bit. We bled out the lines and he was much happier.

But, one thing Greg needs constant reminder is.........

Feel free to dogpile the shit out of him. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Brother Ignacio: Obviously that's not SkooterG's mistake, since to the best of my personal knowledge he's never made a mistake in the almost five years I've been riding with him. That must be the fault of vectervp1, or dcarver, or even myself!!

BFD buddy - look at all the ground-hugging weight that you ground off your bike - and while you were on the way to the rally.

Now THAT'S multi-tasking!

Actually, we now have a mantra at the Utah 1088. As the Rallybastard springs some new detail on our demise today we all say.......

"Thanks RenoJohn!"
We got just the alternate routes last night and won't be handed the packet until after 6:30. I'll only be sure after then, but I don't the alternates are players this year.

Assuming the main route...the real question for the first leg is catching up with Bob and Sylvie Torter. They're riding away at 6:30 a.m. and if we can catch them, pass them, we'll get supposedly a gob of points. How that will work has been consuming my thoughts.

Liftoff in about 90 minutes.....

What inquiring minds really want to know is ScooterG carrying "the rock" for his whopper of a mistake? But really, it wouldn't really be a rally if SkooterG didn't show up with SOMETHING wrong with his bike.

Too busy all day to be watching this but Biodsl already has a 1000 miles. Hope you riders are having as much fun as us couch potatoes.

LDRydr: Truer words were never spoken! Least this time he left Skootsdale with new rubbers, I inspected his tires: Perfect!!

Interesting to see the different tracks.. naturally RenoJohn has chosen an, uhh, 'unusual' route!

Yes, but knowing his "need for speed" they'll probably look like this when he finished:

The word just in on the LDRider list is that Ken Meese won another one. I believe that's four in a row! Unbeliveable. Can't wait to read some of rally ride reports.

Yes, Ken dug and dug and dug. I was riding with Jim Owen on the third leg (a fun and great story unto itself) and Ken passed me. That little 1389 crumb of a bonus was enough to put him over Skooterg...who got 2nd.

I placed 8th place after having screwed the pooch and not being able to do Vegas. (Reading comprehension was my issue).

RenoJohn was 6th!

And a newbie on a Busa (there was a total of three including Warchild) placed 7th I believe.

I learned a new trick...where you get pulled over and instead of having them open up your envelop that would have dropped me to 30th or so....I convinced them my Costco card matched my credit cards....and they let me off with a warning.

If you're like me you seriously wonder why the road out of Torrey on 12 is a 50 zone.

WC didn't finish, but he reports having a great lunch with Brian Roberts somewhere in Nevada. ;)
