Didn't take the FJR out at all this weekend. Rain and thunderstorms on Sat. So I chipped away at the honey-do.

Yesterday was frickin hot. I worked on the CX650E until the garage got freakin' hot, Then I opted for something with more airflow. So I took out my 250 trail bike.

What a hoot. Pinned and tucked the best I could get out of it was 122km/h (75mph). What is really surprising is it smooths out nicely around 7000 rpm (about 100km/h - 60mph). Then I found myself entertaining thoughts of riding it to Alaska. It'd need more range though, the 7l tank is good for about 130km at hwy speeds. Close to 200 around town. Obviously, the heat was getting to me, so I turned back to he barn and enjoyed some ice cold bevy's and kick ass bbq.

The lower fork leg takes a lot of abuse from the road. It will be interesting to see how well the lights, and especially those L brackets, hold up to the pounding.
I made the mistake of using the reflector brackets to hold my MM10 bullet LEDs. I tried this because the ES fender bolts are sunk into the fender, they don't fit flush like on the Gen2 or the A model. One of the brackets broke within the first month. I then used a custom spacer, a 1/4 inch stainless tubing nut and a longer allen head bolt to attach the lights to the front fender. Much better, much stronger. I have had the MM10s on Dad's bike for a couple years now and had them on my ST1300 front fender as well with no ill effects.

L-shape bracket I made from 3 mm thick steel so i do not expect anything there, may be light itself can have a problem with vibrations, but just time will show...

I checked the tire pressure then rode 220 miles. Seattle-Lake Stevens-Arlington-Bryant Lake-Lake McMurray-back to Finn Settlement Road-Lake Cavanaugh Road-Big Lake (lunch)-Sedro Wooley-Concrete-Rockport-Howard Miller Steelhead Park-back to Sedro Wooley-Burlington-Everett (to see my daughter)-home. Seven hours. Still had some gas.

Ordered a new set of PR2's, after giving the bike a good 500 mile thrashing on the flat, straight, boring roads of SE Ohio yesterday...Damn that felt good.

Oh, and I rode it to work today

Sounds like a blast Joe. Nice living within a day's ride of twisty roads ain't it?
It was great to get out and ride...need to do that more often. It was definitely a well needed mental health day.

I ignored my FJR, and she is pissed.

I have been working on the quad today. One last piece to put back on and it's done. The ECM was bad and it looks like the new one did the trick.

No more flashing lights.

Hey Joe! I'm in Cleveland at the Airport Hilton Garden Inn. But I don't have my bike, and I'm with my wife....

Just thought I should let you know.

After a long rest... (I low sided last summer in TN) my son and I put on the new plastic, and some used pipes.

We gave it a bath, and rode together for the first time on our 2 FJRs. Me on the '13 and he on (my) his '03.

We 'aired it out' a little, and he had the 'shit eatin' grin' I had after the first ride on the FJR!!! Good day!

Scratch that no more flashing lights. I now have a code 5 error. I think I will order up a BMW sticker for the quad along with more new parts. Dammik thought I had it. The shift motor does work now so I half got it there.

Hoping to ride the FJR today for a short spin, I am getting angry looks as I walk by the black beast.

Dave

Rode it to work and back home for lunch. Washed it for the first time in a few weeks and now time to ride back to work and then ride after work to a free concert in the neighborhood and ride the next two days.

Got the battery on charge.

Maybe I'll get to ride it soon
