My brother rode from Indiana to get his 2016 properly setup with a new Sena 20, 590 Zumo and Fuzeblock. I spent a couple hours just updating his iPhone 6 and and installing firmware updates on every thing. Pulled the panels, tank and will be completing wiring tomorrow. I guess, even though I don't own a 16, I get to work on one.

We flew into Boston and rented a car. Ran up the east coast to Acadia national park for a couple nights. Then west to the white mountains of New Hampshire for a couple nights. Then more west to the green mountains of Vermont for a couple nights. Then down the spine of Vermont for one night, and yesterday we touched the Berkshires in route back to Boston. Today we fly home.

The colors were something I will never forget. My wife ate so much lobster, she's growing pinchers. We saw waterfalls, colonial and Native American history, the agriculture here, and we ate everything local we could find. There muct be 500 craft beers in this region and I tried as many as I could and they were all delicious. I will have to think about it more, but right now I might put this trip in the top 5 all time for me. It was that good.

I'd like to give a public shout out to Fred W. for giving me invaluable advise on planning this trip. I PM-d him about 3 months ago and asked for help. He held my hand and everything he suggested was spot freaking on. Thanks a bunch, Fred!

@hppants - Driving around and viewing the fall colors is great, but you should really consider riding the FJR back up here for NERDS next summer. It will be the 3rd week in August, when it is too damn hot and steamy to think about riding in Louisiana, but stays relatively cool in the Stowe area.

We have routes set up that will show you all sides of northern VT, including one that runs over 16 covered bridges in a day that I bet you'd enjoy.

It's a great time, and we have a lot of fun. Josie and I usually make a full week of it, along with some of the other local NERDS. Definitely a get together that the pillions can enjoy (almost) as much as the riders. If wifey doesn't want to ride all the way up you can always have her fly up and meet you in Burlington, not too far from Stowe.

Glad that you had a good trip. Safe travels home. Hope your neighborhood didn't get hammered by the hurricane too badly while you were away.

Fred, does that mean that NERDs is a "GO" for next year?

Went into the garage and looked at the cover hiding it from more abuse. After the last Performance Award I received, it is parked for the winter as the license plate on the bike has expired and I may not have a drivers license much longer.

Rode my FJR 100 miles this morning. The weather at home is FINALLY cooling off. It was s very pleasant ride and I actually tried out my new tourmaster textile jacket.

Ouch! That musta been a performance to bring the house down! Congrats!! And soory....

Me? I completed my S4 ground spider removal, removed the S6 spider and buttoned 'er up. Runs great so far!

Got in a nice Autumn ride with my brother on his new 2016ES. A fun ride through the hills and curves of SWPA. Really glad he came to visit this weekend and we got the chance to take this ride. He is no longer in touring mode and he has evolved into the best coordinated and skilled riding partner i could hope for. What a treat to ride with my brother again on equal machines. I hope we can do this again soon, and often.

GaryF lives in Canada where the traffic laws in some provinces often makes criminals out of people for what would be a mild to middle level traffic law violation in the US. The scale for $fines$, immediate driver's license suspensions and other punishment escalates wildly for small increases in speed. IMO anyway, as a US citizen looking at the northern provinces traffic law enforcement. Don't even think of doing things like briefly standing on the pegs to stretch, that is considered stunting:

The penalties for stunt driving are:

  • An immediate seizure of the vehicle involved for 7 days
  • Immediate drivers license suspension for 7 days
  • a fine between 2,000 and 10,000 dollars
  • possible drivers license suspension up to 2 years
  • 7 demerit points
  • Dramatic increase in insurance rates

I rode up to Lake Tahoe last weekend for a few days. On my arrival, I got a little surprise.

We need another SEO trip, before the snow flies.
