Alan,You should move and do your ionbeam trickery down here...no teenagers required.

I checked, they do have electricity around here...at least 1.21 Gigawatts I think.
Sequence of events when a blizzard is forecast in New England:

1. beer shelves are emptied

2. cigarette shelves are emptied

3. stores run out of milk and bread

4. gas stations run out of gas

5. power goes out for 2 weeks

6. it starts to snow

I thought that was only in RI.

Over the next 36 hrs we are looking for ~24" of snow. A mere trifling compared to what Buffalo got so far this winter. Snow blower is on standby and shovels are ready, now all I have to do is find a teenager to run them for me

Buffalo? There are no people there to even know it's snowing out

Bud Boomer, Honey, and Roy Boy are still there...

Ok there are a few people in Buffalo :)

I get a kick out of the TV news doom and gloomers trying to stir up a pre-storm frenzy.

I mean, it's just a little snow fer cryin out loud. Happens every winter around here that I can remember.

Of course, I do not have a commute, so I don't care much if the roads get screwed up.

And since it will be cold all day, I expect the whole thing to come down as nice fluffy snow, easy to clear, and so we shouldn't lose power (knock on wood).

That said, I will be "makin' a packy run" this afternoon, just in case. You can never be too careful about some things

This time of year we just keep our beer out in the garage, keepin' the bikes company.

There might be a few White IPA beersickles out there right about now. Seriously.

61F !!!!! Going for a high of 64F!

Only one small puffy white cloud visible at the moment.

A light breeze from the North West.

All snow has melted, ground still frozen

Dog **** Patrol completed, two 5 gallon buckets filled and emptied!

I could be an archeologist

Oh **** I'd better patrol too before the snow covers it. I'm the only one in the house that knows how to shovel that stuff.

We get to join in on the fun. 2'-3' by tomorrow afternoon with heavy winds overnight. Governor was down here a little while ago and announced he's shutting down all roads at 2300, most likely the LIRR also. Refilled the kerosene can, snowblower sitting by the garage door and a Stew's run completed! My thoughts now are with good friends down on the south shore. They finally got their home back in order this summer after Irene and with the coastal flood warnings tonight I know they'll be watching the tides anxiously.

Our local weather talkers are predicting 20-30 inches of the white stuff before storm blows out tonight. Very heavy snow and winds at the moment. But we haven't lost power so just enjoying the scenery from the warm house right now. Later today they'll be some serious snow removal going on around here.

Snow is light and fluffy, and it's blowing around pretty good up here. No point trying to clear anything until it stops. Maybe tomorrow?

We're fully stocked up with all the essential B vitamins: (Bourbon, Bacon and Beer) so we could go a couple of weeks without digging out.

I just came in from filling all our empty bird feeders; say did you know it's snowing here in New England? I'm ~6' tall and the snow is between my knees and waste waist deep. It's supposed to continue to snow at this rate for at least the rest of the day and into tonight. "Its a light fluffy snow" my a$$, it's a mountain of snow. My snow blower should be afraid, very afraid.

The 'beams have also stocked up with the B basics of life too. There is even a side of gas for the generator and snow blower.
