Like in Northern Mississippi, when the pine tree blooms and the wind blows the sky turns green. That kind of pollen?

Yep, it's Biblical. When the wind blows through the pines it's a green dust storm. Should be close to finished (I hope) at our elevation when you get here.

No curves here either, just boring old flat roads.

So in keeping the thread on topic airboss... :p ;)

On topic? Did you say on topic, Jorge? Where the hell do you think you're at G, a BMW Owners Forum? Bejaysus, this is the FJR Forum; we don't believe in that crap!
Really, just how do you turn a little ride to Californica into Thirty pages? Just sayin, :p .
No **** Sherlock, there must be something in the drinking water in Wheaton, Illinois that turns the citizens into blabbermouths. SkootyG is the same damn way, he can literally talk the ears off of an entire herd of Bassett Hounds. When I stop for lunch when riding with GregM, I never ever take out my ear plugs; even sitting at the table!!!

Well don't worry Don...I won't talk yer ear off. I'm kinda quiet.
Yeah Mark: And Niehart doesn't like pie, Fred W doesn't like hockey, ShinyPartsUp doesn't love goats, Bustanut joker doesn't screw sheep, BikerGeek99 doesn't like big corn cobs, rushes doesn't like bourbon, Patriot Mike doesn't........

Don, I know as long as you're there, I'll just sit and listen to your stories. I love stories Uncle Chuy...

...stories like how some Canuckians came along and stole your beer...yeah right! ;)

Wasn't that muy Loco, ese! Here I have been riding a Moto into Mexico since October of 1968 on a regular basis, except for the two years I was overseas in the US Army, and I have never had a single thing stolen by Los Mexicanos. Yet, I enter Canuckistan and besides my beer: The tocque wearing *******s stole my camp gear!

Rained last night to knock down some of the pollen, but it's brisk this morning here in Auburn. But . . . the long range forecast, though notoriously inaccurate, seems to indicate that you're bringing rain with you. Please don't do that -- make your peace with the weather gods before you leave, huh? Maybe sacrifice a virgin or something? <_<

For Auburn, The Weather Channel's 10 day forecast for Auburn, CA currently forecasts "showers" from Saturday (5/14) through Wednesday (5/18) with chances of precipitation currently predicted for those days being:

Sat. - 40%

Sun. - 60%

Mon. - 30%

Tue. - 60%

Wed. - 40%

The north coast typically has a higher probability and heavier precipitation than Auburn this time of year -- here's the Fortuna 10 day forecast. Chances of precipitation currently forecast for those days in Fortuna being:

Sat. - 40%

Sun. - 70%

Mon. - 60%

Tue. - 40%

Wed. - 60%

That's as far out as the TWC site is forecasting, and of course, the forecast will change. However, offered as an illustration of the fickle nature of northern California weather in May: last May 20 (2010), it was gorgeous riding 36 to Fortuna and doing Lost Coast Road. But May 21, water was coming out of the sky in sheets and snow stopped us trying to come over from O'Brien, OR (on 199 NE of Crescent City) to Happy Camp, CA (on 96). On May 22, it was damn cold and wet heading down 101 on my way home. It finally got nice enough well east of Clear Lake on 20 that I could take my electric jacket off. Thank God I had it and a rain liner both days, though.

And here's a link for the radar image that is a handy, more or less real time info source to look at the morning of any ride: Intellicast Radar imaging.

Appears the weather forecast is kinda damp.

Mark stop by Mitsuwa in Arlington Heights, pick up one of these and we'll have a good trip.

Daruma san Daruma-san is not only a good-luck charm but also a symbol for trying hard and being brave. There is a popular saying about Daruma-san in Japan, “Seven downs and eight ups,” which means that each time Daruma-san is knocked down he gets right up and tries again.

Just to be on the safe side I'll feed the cat some money. The cats supposed to bring good luck too, but you got to bribe it. Darn Cats!

The maneki neko is a popular Japanese sculpture that is believed to bring good luck to its owner

Beemerdons, you break me up....
Don - be careful, now! You know how Petey can be when he gets broken up...

He'll break YOU up, all ninja-style and ****. :assassin: You won't even know what hit you. DAMHIK...

Hey, now. Don't bring ME into this crap.

Besides, they're a local landmark. An icon, if you will.

Somehow, I think I'll figure out a way to have a good time on this trip...whether or not the weather cooperates.

Sorry if the weather keeps some folks away...I understand if that's the case...

...but "damn the torpedoes...FULL SPEED AHEAD!" :yahoo:

EDIT: If I ever cancelled or postponed a trip due to dire weather forecasts...I'd maybe go on HALF the trips I've been on.

Aye and Begorah Karl, forget about that fecking Blarney about some damned lucky Nipponese Cat for Petey's sake. You want real luck you can trust, then nothing works better than an Irish Shamrock!

To try and protect The Rolling Illinois Cluster Feck participants, I have ordered up three of these patches. Old Michael, ShinyPartsUp and BeemerDonS will each be wearing these for your protection. We don't really believe that they will do a thing about the fecking rain.

But we absolutely guarantee they'll protect our Clan from raging packs of Lesbians and at least one Grumpy Old Gray Bearded FJR Rider from Sacramento, CA. Slainte!

Thanks Don, being of Scots decent the Shamrock dunna work for me. Glad to have you doing it for me.

Here's a 14 day forecast for Fortuna that looks pretty optimistic for the days planned for riding in that vicinity:

Weather network 14 day trend for Fortuna

Maybe the shamrock is beginning to work its mojo. South of that area is generally less likely to get precipitation this time of year, btw. I've done too much touring in the rain the last couple years, so it'd be awful nice to catch some clear weather for that weekend. That is, IF that weekend occurs -- you're not forgetting that the world is supposed to end on the 21st, are ye?

I happen to believe that the higher powers that be will let us "play thru" that weekend.

I think the weather is gonna be great for touring motorcycling...and maybe even for sport-touring motorcycling. :yahoo:

EDIT: Rich, I'll follow you around norCal...even if you have a rain cloud "gps locked-on" to your visor.
