Just running through the various "I wants" in my head for a second bike and wanted to ask those who've sold their FJR, why? I like my 2006 919 for back and forth to work and some spirited one up riding but for longer distances and something the girl may be able to sit up on - the FJR came to mind. I'd seen a few posts here and on a few other boards where some people were selling their FJR's and wondered if there were mechanical problems, new baby on the way, too many bikes and not enough time, ?????

I was (guess I still am until I sell the old car) considering going to a cruiser like the 2007 Yamaha V Star 1300. Belt drive, FI, liquid cooled, and over 1000cc's but at nearly 650 pounds I really hate going back to a boat anchor just to please. So why not a supersport tourer? The FJR is just such a beast.

Why does anyone sell a Corvette, Viper, or even a Ferrari? Yet there are nice late model ones for sale out there. It's a matter of choice, timing, changing circumstamnces, and fickle desires of the human condition. Why not?

I bought mine with 400 miles on it because, after ordering without ever sitting on one, the PO found he was too short for the bike, had no plans for touring, and wasn't comfortable riding it in Miami traffic.

all true...

you know, then there are the other percentage of us who AREN'T affluent. i bought the FJR on a day when i was feeling flush, and then i rode it and fell totally in love with it. now i am contemplating a huge hole in my cash reserve - (who am i kidding that WAS the cash reserve...) - especially wondering how it is going to feel through the 9 months of the year when i will wear rain gear to ride, and my horrific new insurance rates, and i am SERIOUSLY considering selling the new '06 i love so much simply to get a bit of cushion back. i retired and downsized everything, including selling my beach house, to be able to live free of "the man" for what's left of my years. thinking i could still have a lot of fun on a used magna or something, give up the idea of having to have "the best", and still have beer and music money.

takes all kinds. the feej is still sitting out there, with only 1500 miles on it. but i'm JUST about ready to pull the trigger. a nice local forum member is spinning by this weekend to have a look, and i'll prolly let 'er go.

<sigh> so few of us get to be bill gates. but then, on a global scale, anybody who can have a motorcycle for a toy is fabulously wealthy, so no whining....

ride safe folks. :) slippery out today up here...

Seen four 06 fjr's today while shopping for ten grand mile change parts. Noone had air filters (oh well). The regular scoots were selling for about 13 five....the (special) ones were selling for 15 five. Still need a front wheel. Oh, the thread...yeah.....bought mine new...showroom model. (dallas area). Wouldn't get rid of it unless I totalled it. Then, I'd get the new concourse....just to check it out. Otherwise....would get another feejer. 06 with the manual clutch....must be the old school in me...or cold beer.

I sold mine so I could releverage cash for a real estate transaction. (GF is pregnant, and we needs a house!)

According to Cycle World, and anyone that's worth listening to such as those here in the forum :D , the FJR is "The reigning King of Sport Touring". No one has sold, parted ways, etc. with an FJR because of mechanical issues. The bike's fabulous and that's it. Before you buy, try to drive - but for God's sake at least sit on it. Make sure you're tall enough for the bike and make sure it's comfortable for you and whomever you might have on the back. If it's only slightly too tall, remember there are relatively inexpensive mods you can make on this bike to "get it in your size" too.

Don't think about buying it. Do it. And don't buy a boring cruiser either. They're, well, boring. I just got rid of my '04 Roadstar Silverado (1670cc) worth of anchor. Shit, every time I took it out I had to spend 2 hours just cleaning the damn thing. Ain't worth it.

 Sold my '05 so I could have an '06. A good number of improvements on the '06 that have been discussed quite thoroughly in this forum.

I was very happy with my '05, but wanted the improvements and am VERY HAPPY with the '06.

There's a lot of truth there shu...

So did you let it go?

No one has sold, parted ways, etc. with an FJR because of mechanical issues.

That might be a stretch. Errr, didn't WC ?

I sold my 04 so that I could buy an 06' :yahoo:
Hi, what's your experience with the 06? I am planning to buy a 2006/2007.
Couldn't be happier. I had no issues with the 04, in fact I sold it to my son. I like the small changes that they made, but I would have bought it without them. I'm one of the lucky ones that have disposible income so I bought the 06 mainly for the adventure of riding home from Alabama to RI on back roads.

Just want to say that the Honda 919 does kick ass (for a day ride) :coolsmiley02: Buying the 06 FJR was a great step up and away from the 919. My wife is very happy on the back of the FJR, and on my first tour of 1400 miles in 4 days I have finished with no posterior or other physical pains. The FJR at twice the price is 5 times more bike for the buck. I have no plans on selling this bike until they come up with a modification that enables flight! Stock my 06 comes close. :)
