I was looking around behind the gauges and could'nt find the plug to keep the wind shield from lowering when the ignition is turned off. Is it like the one on the 03 and where is it?

Remove the small cap with the allen screw on the front cowling,i mean the N.36 in microfiche. https://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/2005/FJR1300ABS+-+FJR13AT/COWLING+1/parts.html

Somewhere inside there is this plug.In my European 03/abs/04/US this plug is there in this area.

If you haven't small hands and fingers probably you will need girl's or child's hands to take it in your hand and unplug it because the opening under the cap is small for normal hands. Also you can use a long plier..Good luck!

Won’t just un plugging that plug with the wire loop stop the auto lowering and make the shield manually adjustable?

Adding a switch lets someone select auto retract or manual operation depending on your mood/needs. Most people motivated enough to remove the jumper won't want or need the switch.

Funny that on my 05, it just quit on its own..... Automatic Mod....

That was the best mod I ever had to do....

I liked being able to set the shield where I wanted it and it not move. When I want it higher or lower I can just run it up or down as needed. Thanks for the info.
