Yeah maybe a new thread but, RF, do you plan on keeping that one on during the winter months?
Looks a little chilly for these days, but love the sporty look!

Hehe, I know this, but, in this thread conversation (about his slide out) they were saying it was 33F! Heck, It's warmer than that up here in the frozen tundra of CNY right now. ...Antarctica is down, wayyy down, and this is the start of their summer, at least the last I knew ;)

For me, (5'1") that extra couple inches is just right. Good looks, plenty of air flow in summer, and full up provides all the needed protection needed in the temps I am willing to run in.

I did not want to begin a "Modification Thread", it would be short and boring anyway. I mostly wanted to show you guys that while I am sore as hell, I am not dead.

By the way, I am sore as hell. I don't see any difference at all in the way my ribs feel now from when I woke up that first morning. How long does this crap continue? I am still working my restricted 8 hours a night but gawdamm I can't get comfortable and I never stop hurting.

Oh, in other news... Mom and Pop showed up here a couple of days ago. With cash. Pop said that after riding the '15 for just a few miles this past Saturday I have to get my seat customized. I tried to argue but I was too sore and Mom is not being very friendly to me right now. With Pop to back her up, I made The Phone Call.

I installed the Top Sellerie:

Then I shipped the stock seat off to Seth Laam. I am thinking black on the sides with pink on the top... Pink should look really pretty against the Liquid Graphite, plus it matches my level of manliness right now.

Even Seth Laam was pleased to hear I had dumped my ST1300 and gone with the new FJR. Obviously he gets to build another seat, but he told me that the FJR seat pan and angle makes it much easier to build a really comfortable seat than on the ST.

I only broke my ribs once while smashing into the boards in a hockey game maybe about 15 years ago. It was painful for the whole winter. It did subside a little after a month but it went on, and on.

*Sorry*

Fix n farkle to keep your mind off of it.

I swapped out my Laam with BigJohn at the Western Roundup last summer so he could get an idea of how comfortable the Lamm is and instantly remembered why that was the first FARKLE on mine.

Glad to help ya on that account, Seth is like 7 minutes from my house, I can stop on the way home and let him know your new colors!

Slow down just a bit so you can heal up faster RFH.

Oh yea,

Good on Mom and Pops to hook you up with a new seat!

Our friend Patriot (Mike) had a gravel spill today, hurt his ankle but seems not to bad.
Here is what our buddy Mike Oliver sent out to his friends today: "…a lesson in ATGATT…armored gear or I would not have walked away…lightly tweaked ankle even through good SIDI boots…just happened with micro second low side to the left in ball bearing gravel from repave job on my street only a block away making the turn at the corner."

Yep< I bought my 2014 A model on a fluke,950 miles from home. Had ridden my 12 year old,129,000 mile ST1300, to an event in Central Texas and needed a front tire. Making a long story short, best told over a beer or two, I left with a new FJR 2014 A model. I worried the whole 950 miles back to Colorado that I get the bike back home in one piece. Luckily I did OK. First ride at home was to introduce the FJR to the twisties here in the foothills of the Colorado Front Range.. Took it easy at first looking for sand and gravel on the road. The FJR liked the riding here in Colorado. I have 1800 miles on her now and am a lot more at ease pushing her a bit. I think I am going to get along with her.

Taking "Scar" in to the dealership this morning for repairs. The parts are (supposed to be) in and I am going to just pay for it out of my pocket, no need to involve the insurance company. When I think of the money I could have spent on other things...

I am not sure whether or not a new saddlebag was part of the order. Either way I will be sending the damaged lid to Garauld when time permits. With my skills it won't hurt me to have a backup.

Hey RFH.....

Hows the sneezing, coughing, laughing, sleeping coming along....

Hope your on the mend and the pain is starting to subside quite a bit more.....

Not hurting at all unless I roll over onto my left side. Or leaning out of a ladder cage to close a block valve. Or crawling around under my brother-in-law's '68 Camaro. Or doing push-ups or sit-ups... The sneezing, coughing, or just breathing pains went away finally.

Thanks for the encouragement Zilla. But I feel like Ebenezer Scrooge or The Grinch right now. Your description is inaccurate.

I am a little disappointed that they called to schedule this but they can't get it out anytime soon. Turns out that the service department is backed up due to installing winches on 4 wheelers for Christmas. I had not anticipated this. They told me that they have so many winches to install that they are not sure if they can get to my FJR before Christmas. At least they told me ahead of time, I had the option of leaving with it. Since I had already conned Pop into following me up there for a ride home, I just left it. It is not like the weather is going to be nice over the Christmas holiday anyway.

Why don't you just get the parts from them and install them yourself? You obviously have the skill. It would only take you a couple of hours and save you the labor charges.

I agree. As an added plus - when he crashes again he will be even better at replacing all the damaged parts! See? I'm a 'glass is half full' kind of guy.

If a mirror was damaged it would make me concerned about the sub-frame needing to be replaced. I understand the Gen 3 mirror sub-frame has a 'glass jaw'.

I got past replacing subframes from drops long ago. A few minutes of trial and error bending it back gets it 'close enough'.

Based on the Gen 3 sub-frame pictures from Iris it looks like the Gen 3 don't be the same bendable frame as older Gens, these sub-frames fracture.
