https://www.cycletrader.com/find/listing/20...200-Gs-97086460 Good work on the link above, lonesoldier84! At $13,900 Yamaha is going to sell everyone they can bring over here, that's $1K less than their direct competitor: The BMW R1200GS. Super Tenere is 75 lbs. heavier than a GS, but when a trail bike get over 500 lbs. they are too heavy for real dual sport work anyway! Then it's KTM time!

Bah! 75 lbs. is 75 freaking lbs.!

I know that's just a couple of meals for you perro gordo, but for the rest of us it's significant. At least the price is fairly competitive. And pay attention El Pendejo Grande, they are bringing them over by PDP once again, so yes, that kind of makes it mandatory that they will sell every one they bring over.

Wonder what D&H will sell one for?

But the biggest advantage it has over the R1200GS is that it isn't a BMW :p

And the FJR is almost 70 pounds heavier than the Tenere !

I'm so tempted .............

Highlander, rush right in today [first order date], put your $500.00 down [dealers don't have a retail price yet] and the wait for it to arrive in May. They do say bag, skid plate, etc will be ready before the bike is.

I notice it shows the seat height at 33 to 34", not a good thing for those of us who are short.

Guess I'll wait out to see what Triumph offers in their new 800 "Tiger".

Wow No One, that's a smoking deal. $1,400 off of MSRP is an incredible savings. I'd imagine that FJR Forum Members looking for a Super Tenere will be lining up outside of your Stadium Yamaha shop!

Stadium also has great online prices for parts and accessories. I've had several dealing with them and the experience was good.

Which is part of the reason I still have the hots for the Ducati. The 2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200 has a wet weight of only 478 pounds (485 pounds in the "S").
I still have my deposit down on a white 2010 Ducati Multistrada 1200 Touring Model at Ducati of Scottsdale, arrival scheduled for mid-December. The light weight is a major issue for me, secondary to the fact that really cool guys like Niehart and FJRBluesman ride Ducatis; they have to beat the chicks away with a stick, Ducs are real babe magnets. Hubba, hubba! It isn't really a dual sport though!

In regards to 75 lbs., that's just a dozen Numero Cinco Especiales at Armando's La Comida Mexicana here in Chandler, Sonora Estado. If I add a side of Tacos/Enchiladas Mariscos, pushes it up to 80 lbs.

Anybody know what the maintenance schedule and cost is for the Duc and GS compaired to the Tenere? Probably a bit early to know.

For me the down side of the Duc. is the price and the chain. So while I have the hots for the Duc. I MAY end up with the Yammie when the time comes to pull the trigger (in a year or two).

That is another thing with the Duc. From what I gather over on the Duc. MTS forums the Duc. demands proper maintenance on the scheduled basis. They say if you treat it right it will treat you right. Get lazy, and you may be walking. No wiggle room.

I've been following the threads on ADVrider since I like this kind of bike. The weight has been discussed a bunch, and the peeps in Australia and South Africa say it is amazing how easy it is to get up after being dumped in the dirt (pics of that and video) maybe due to how low the weight is carried. It seems as good or better than the 1200GS for off road duty. And for what I was wondering, they say that the ABS/unified ABS system works very well off road without turning it off like with the GS. I know that is hard to figure out, but it sounds like Yamaha did a lot of work on this knowing lots of people would be taking the S10 off the tarmac. Being able to put a deposit on one at an out the door price (except tax, title and tag) of $12,499 is an incredible deal. I don't need one (with two sport tourers in the garage already) but probably will put a deposit down since got 9 mo. to decide to follow through or sell my spot in line or whatever.
