For sure its NOT an FJR... but as you said the Super Tenere is not an FJR........ an FJR CANT do what a Super Tenere can do... Just depends on what the user would like to do,,, and then how they feel riding the correct bike for the task the rider in joys.... Right tool, for the right job...
When do we get to see some pictures of this machine doing it's job? You guys with the bikes, not marketing material. You know, the kind of pictures that make me so insanely jealous I want to kick your dog or flatten your tires because it just isn't fair for one person to have soooo much fun. :dribble:

+1, Gunny; I'm with Brad, let's see some S10 dirt work!!!

Come on rushes, show us some dirt riding "Q-Tip" style!
I'm picking mine up the 27th, should be back in town with it around the 30th...How about a live demo Don? We can find some of those good desert roads around here for me to break her in on!

AVGeek, Sounds Great! I won't be back from SW-FOG 2011 until September 11, maybe the following weekend we could do one of the following: Kearny - Winkelman to Florence Road, Mammoth Mine to Mount Lemmon or Forest Route 300 from Pine to Woods Lake! rushes, show up by 0600 in Chandler on 9/18 and you can ride with AVGeek and Papa Chuy! Maybe even Crown King Road!

I need to push it back one more weekend, will be in Orlando working on the 18th!

My buddy picked his up last week. It was wearing Bridgestone Battlewings. Nice looking bike. I can't wait to ride it. :)

Mine came with Metzeler Tourance EXP's.

Some I've heard came with Bridgestone Battlewings.
Same here (on the EXP's) and after about 60 miles of dirt riding I think they are very good on the pavement and almost worthless off pavement, I might as well be using PR2s. I am going to try Battlewings next because I already have a set I bought for my V-Strom but never installed.

I now have 1500 miles on my S10 and both the engine and suspension have broken in and 10-15 HP has come out of hiding. Its about as smooth as a large twin can be and a lot of fun to ride.

...thanks for breaking it in before I throw a leg over it. I'd hate to make the trip and get the wrong first impression! ;)

First short tide tonight off road.. Wow, I sound like a broken record... This bike is awesome. Tried the traction control on the dirt and then turned it off. WOW, how cool !!! The ABS (IMOP) in the dirt is flawless... In this post I dont want to get into why someone might need the ABS off.. In the dirt the brakes WORK... It was fun to have the traction control on and kinda pop the throttle and feel the software kicking in to keep the rear end from kicking out...

I'm really looking forward to several hundred miles off road................. what a machine !

AVGeek Bro', what would you say to riding dirt through Bumble Bee up to Crown King and then Senator Highway back to pavement at Mayer on Sunday, September 25.

It would be 175 miles of off road riding. We would top off our dual sport tanks in Rock Springs and we can top off again in Dewey, we should have enough riding range!

If you are good to go with this proposal, I will post it up here under Southwest and then again at the GS section of AZ Beemers. The More D/S Riders the Merrier for Dirt!

The first 40 miles will be dirt switchbacks like these!

We'll have Brunch at the Crown King Saloon; great steak sandwiches!

Just one of the fantastic views we will see on this dirt adventure!

I would, but I won't be back in town until sometime on the 23rd (I have a long run in Orlando, starting the 13th!)

Don -

You're a tease for us so far away.

Just for that, here are some W. Va pix from yesterday, where it was beautiful in the mid-80s:

AVGeek, unless I hear different from you, I'm going to post this Sunday 9/25 Crown King Brunch Ride up on both M/C Forums before I leave for Taos on Labor Day! OK?

Checkswrecks, rushes and the rest of you Dirt Riding Goobers: You will get a kick out of this slideshow my Good Buddy "BearTrax" took of the last Crown King - Senatore Highway fiasco!

Multiple flat tires, almost stepping on diamondback rattlesnakes, oncoming pickups, crashes that damaged forks and steering heads. This was such a **** up you would have though that "Q-Tip" (Scott - fjrrider) had planned it! Had so many nasty disasters crew didn't get back to Phoenix until almost midnight!
