I am a Yosemite virgin, but not a virgin to the other YNP. It isn't any different when it comes to speed limit, traffic, etc., so I know what to expect. I am going to be with Tyler anyway, so we will be stopping at all the good picture spots!

Mono Lake, Lee Vining, I'm guessing. Not much there for quite a ways, I don't believe. And south of there, you start getting into the pretty ritzy Mammoth Lakes resort-y places. Think I'd rather be up in the much cooler mountains anyway.

The tentative schedule I've got for the virgins brings them back around to that area after a loop up the PCH, over to Tahoe via 36, Sierra passes, and then to Benton Hot Springs... there's only so much one can cram in (so to speak) in a set amount of time... you know we could keep them busy for weeks, even months, around these parts!

Yeah, me too... this is gonna be a "take the time to smell the roses" kind of trip.

Tyler hardly ever stops, she shoots all those pictures rolling down the road on one of them Spyder thingamajigs

Last summer my son and my brother and his 15yr old boy spent 2 days at Yosemite and loved every min of it. Well, all but the crowds. I recognize much of the video from the climbing of Half Dome. Had it not been for only getting 2 days there, we would have done it. Now after seeing the video, I am all in for that.

Thanks Old Mike for posting that.

Just a thought, for some of y'all who've not been to Yosemite .....If you can make time, and are willing to get off your Yamaha for a day, this is something that'll stick with you, and with some planning it's completely doable.

(Just in case you end up only living once.)

Alex and I were going to do that one together, but something came up, so we didn't. Well, he did it alone.

Anyhow there are lots of somewhat lesser hikes with pretty close to equally spectacular views--here's Taft Point, less than a mile off the road to the top of Glacier Point. Even an old man and a little kid can do it. Not crowded, either. Looking forward to sharing Yosemite with everybody.

I had Friday off so I did a day trip up and back... checked out a few accommodation possibilities... one topped the list but I'm waiting to find out about availability... will let you know when I know... planned dates are:

Thursday, June 1, 2017 - Descend upon the hotel

Friday, June 2, 2017 - Ride

Saturday, June 3, 2017 - Ride

Sunday, June 4, 2017 - Depart for parts known and unknown

After I checked places out, I headed into the valley since it was a nice day and shouldn't be too crowded... seemed many folks were up there that day!

A few teasers for y'all...

There's a section on 140 that is one way with a stoplight... it bypasses the section of original road that got buried under an avalanche... doesn't look like they ahve any plans to rectify that anytime soon... if you're lucky, you'll be first in line and out ahead of the cages...

The road runs alongside the Merced River which was roaring...

Oh my calendar is marked - you can bet your sweet bippy on that.

**** - I hope one's "bippy" is not a derogatory term. If so, I redact my previous statement.....

I've already informed SWMBO and anyone else that will listen.
