You'll be busy spraying bugs and weeds, this is your busy season my friend.

Yep, work sucks but maybe it will rain(chances are slim to none) so I can take off.

Took you long enough!
I'm old and slow, you know that!

Holding head in hands. How did this much time pass so quickly, Ray? We're in the regression stage. Remember when we Gen.1ers also had sport bikes? Then we sold them. And then it was the FJRs some sold on the way to senility on barcaloungers. And now it's all the way back to trikes! Are walkers the baby strollers of our future?

Clearly, we MUST get together to tell some lies about days of yore while we're still riding something! And a rolling cluster-feck seems most appropriate 6 years on from the one we held on Mark and Carl's behalf.

Let's all get together and tell lies wonderful truthful stores about how fast we used to be.

MsNASCAR and I would be in if Tioga Pass Road were open during the meet-up in Yosemite. Because massive amounts of water falls will be gushing from every orfice along Tioga Pass after the snow is cleared and open for the season.

Hey Tyler:

As YNP and Kings Canyon/Sequoia NP are very close by to me (and I ride there a lot) I'll drop some random thoughts.

1. Staying in YNP takes very advanced planning and a bit of luck in snagging a room or a campsite (camping is all by reservation and is like a lottery). Plus, lodging in the park is at a premium price.

2. The scenery in YNP is world class as is the traffic load. The max posted speed limit in the park is 45, and in some areas 35 and 25, and just plan on having to poke behind RVs. You simply cannot stretch your FJR legs in the park,,,,Outside the park is where you can scrub some rubber!

3. I would suggest staying in either Mariposa or Oakhurst which are both outside the park, but close enough to easily day trip in. Mariposa is probably my fave as you could come into town from the north on hi way 49 through the Little Dragon, and the trip from Mariposa to YNP on hi way 140 is fantastic! You are driving along the Merced River in a deep canyon with the water easily in view almost the entire time (once you drop into the canyon). There are plenty of hotels and eateries in either town, but advance reservations would be required for sure. For those that do want to camp, there is a KOA in Midpines which is along Hiway 140 before you drop into the Merced River Canyon.

4. Someone mentioned maybe backpacking a few nights? Day hikes are fine but any overnighters require wilderness permits which are again via reservations way ahead of time. Plus, bears in the backcountry are aggressive and you must have proper food storage equipment or you will have "issues".

5. I like your idea of staying in Three Rivers after going through Kings Canyon and Sequoia NP. Make sure to go down to Cedar Grove in Kings Canyon NP - fantastic scenery (like Yosemite) but almost no people. And you can really carve some corners along the Kings River (look for guys like me fly fishing in the river,,,). For those coming from out of state, it is a MUST to see either the General Grant or General Sherman giant sequoias. They are just so huge,,,,

6. If we are blessed with a wet winter again next year, the waterfalls in YNP in June should be flowing full-bore.

If you need any local expertise, let me know.

Hey Brian - thanks for that excellent information. I've been to Yosemite many times and am aware of traffic issues that you mention but glad you brought it up for those who may be YNP virgins. There is no "quick" trip through Yosemite unless you don't want to see anything... Plan on a least a full day to sightsee and put on your patience hat and enjoy your surroundings. B)

I'll be sending you a PM shortly regarding some routes, etc. :D
