I recognize Wolf Creek but I thought the cafe was in Hannah. Anyway, I always stop for Pie. Not sure I've been over 191 to Mountain View though. I also recognize North Ogden Divide. Been looking my map over for a route to NAFO. Went to school in Laramie and there are some nice canyons just...

    altitude sickness

Has the Front Range been getting pounded with Snow the way we have here along the Wasatch? Be interesting to make a couple of turns at Copper Mountain on the way to NAFO. Anybody make ski racks for the feejer?

    altitude sickness

The Scream 8 is the same as the Pilot 10 hots (one pepper) but softer flex. I'm on 165s. But back on topic, a good day skiing the chutes at Snowbasin (see my Avatar) is the best cure for attitude sickness I can think of.

OK Cdog, I'm in Ogden and know the way from SLC to West Point. Let's see (I have to think of the trip from here to Salt Lake and play it back in reverse), here goes ... You take I80 to US 40 into Kamas then over the pass by Mirror Lake and down into Evanston. From there you continue on to...

    altitude sickness

Altitude sickness, easy cure. Everyone I worked with who got it just went to a lower altitude, say from 10000 feet to about 6000 feet, spent a couple of hours, got something to eat, went back up and never had further problems. As for me, I come from Laramie, 7200 feet, and only have trouble at...

Had mine out for a few minutes this afternoon. Had to shovel a path through the drifts to get past the slick stuff though. But alas, not interested in melting snow yet. Too much powder skiing left to do. Do you ski? I have comp passes to Snowbird.

Honda ST1300 Heated Grips Testing and Wiring

I added the Honda heated grips a couple of weeks ago. I made up an adapter from the Honda connector to the Yamaha connector from a couple of short lengths of wire and blade connectors from radio shack. Plugs right in to the Honda connector on one end and to the Green Yamaha connector on the...

    Yamaha Travel Trunk recall

I have the "new and improved" top case, installed a month ago. Noticed the latch on the right side case sitting in the latch pocket, completely loose. The latch and screws were still there. Checked the top case and the screws were about to come out of the latch too. Reinstalled and tightened...

    Picking up my FJR Saturday

You'll love the FJR and don't let other members give you any guff about not riding on the ice. I live in Utah and ride all winter unless the visibility is too low for motorists to see me or it is actually slick. I was born in Witchita though and remember the ice. It can get nasty. BTW, say...

    new ecu and mileage

I always get lower mileage in the winter. Bikes and cages. Has something to do with winter mix and with riding/driving longer distances before getting completely warmed up. I think. I'll wait until spring to check. The reason I ride a bike though is so that I don't have to worry about gas...

    LD Winter riding

I guess I'm too cheap for heated gear. I regularly take 6+ hour rides in 20 deg F temps and only my hands get cold. I resort to layering from my ski gear and keep toe warmers from my ski pack on the bike during winter. The toe warmers keep my feet toasty under Red Wing insulated boots. If...

The Canary in the Coal Mine???

With oil production past peak, maybe we should look closely at Vespa.

    NAFO Dates Set!

Is this a location pool? Oh well, put me down for Golden. No specific reason, but Coors is there!

Cdog joins crash club two up

Cdog, Sorry about the crash. Glad to hear you came out of it OK. Also, thanks for your detailed post, both about the riding and the gear. I won't be offerring any safety advice though. We all push it a little. Any lessons learned apply to us all! BTW, were you up on East Canyon Saturday...

    Yamaha Gel Saddle

Yeah. Vital statistics. Your height, weight, anything else that might be relevant to those of us who are considering the Yamaha gel saddle. Have you taken any long rides yet?

    FJRF004: The 2006/7 Altitude Fix

Do you have the new ECU yet? I'm eagerly waitng on detailed ride reports from more FJR owners so that I can compare my experience with others. In particular, I'd like to know how others who have tried some of the alternate performance/smoothness modifications view the new ECU. Also, I only...

How come Cruisers are so much more popular than ST's?

One of my co-workers explained the appeal of cruisers to me this way. "The best part about riding a cruiser is being able to dress the wife in leather."

    2007 ecu installiation

Had mine done Thursday at Carey's in Ogden. They installed the ECU while I had a cup of coffee. Washed the bike too! BTW, I took it out on a run from 4300 to 10100 feet elevation today. I posted my ride report under M2007-016... under Technical/Mechanical Problems.

    Yamaha vs Givi Trunk

I recently added the Yamaha top case to my 07. You can definitely tell its there but like riding with a pillion, you just naturally adjust your riding. With all three cases loaded and speeds over 90, not to mention the truck traffic, it was easy to get used to. One very interesting...

    FJRF004: The 2006/7 Altitude Fix

Good news. Carey's Cycle here in Ogden installed the new ECU on my 07 Thursday. I took it out on a 300+ mile loop today. Here's the rundown. Altitudes from 4300 ft here in Ogden to over 10,000 feet over the pass from Evanston WY to Kamas UT. Several 3000+ feet elevation changes. One of my...
