How many significant others ride their own bike?

My wife rides -- has a 2009 FZ6R in pearl white. RwP fjrlife.blogspot.com

    Done Deal

Congratulations on your FJR!!! You remind me of how excited I was back in Feb anticipating the arrival of my own. I have a few blog posts on my site that cover some inexpensive farkle, reflective decals and such. Check it out if you'd like: fjrlife.blogspot.com Enjoy! RwP

    Cruising RPM?

Thanks all for your insight. I have been shifting at 4,500 generally, and cruising at 65 in 4th on fwy. Of course there are many exceptions depending on mood, conditions, etc... RwP

    Cruising RPM?

I have had my FJR since Feb 25, and absolutely love it. I am curious about cruising RPM: 1) If you are cruising at 65 on the fwy, are you typically in 3rd or 4th? 2) What RPM do you typically shift at when riding 'normally'? 4500? 5500? 6500? 7500? 3) Is there a fuel economy 'sweet spot'...

    New FJR Blog

I officially turned in my RX-8 (cage) on Saturday, so am FJR-only!!! The only downside is that my bike is at the dealer today having the clutch plates soaked in oil. I am really looking forward to a butter-smooth clutch for tomorrow's commute! Also updated the blog with a few more posts... take...

    Caseless in Seattle

I spent an hour fitting 'essentials' under the rider and passenger seats so I could ride with or without the cases as desired. With some extreme-Tetrising, I was able to fit a complete aftermarket tool kit, Cycle Pump, tire repair kit, and manuals under the seats (mine is in low setting, BTW). I...

    New FJR Blog

Thank you for the advice! I will take it in this weekend and see if I can have it done. Hard to be without my FJR for 24 hours though. ;-) And thanks to all of you for your kind comments about the blog. They help me stay motivated to keep it up. I currently have a backlog of things I want to...

    New FJR Blog

Thanks, FJR-Voltron! Gotta get your wife on a bike of her own (assuming she doesn't already ride). ;-) Kirrilian -- it is indeed nice to see so many kindred spirits! The more of us there are on the streets, perhaps the more the cagers will be aware of us. I can dream anyway. RwP

    New FJR Blog

Inspiring words, guys. It can be done. My wife has a minivan, so if I have to haul something, or go on big family trips, etc... I have that to fall back on. But she works during the day also, so the bike really is my main mode of transportation. Every day is an adventure! RwP

    New FJR Blog

I have often felt that being able to ride a motorcycle totally rocks. Having to ride a motorcycle can suck. ;-) At the end of the MSF class the instructor said: "If you find yourself riding and you don't have a giant smile on your face, pull over and fix your face." Great advice. If this...

    Taking Delivery of my FJR!

Definitely beware of the ice. Hopefully things will heat up for you soon! Steel -- I know what you mean about being able to just look at it... my bedtime ritual now includes a quick trip out the garage to gaze at my FJR. I think there's a part of me that just can't believe such bike is actually...

    Advice please?

I'd definitely go for it. Here in LA, they're asking $11,700 for a new '08 A, *plus* tax/license, etc... That said, don't be afraid to negotiate even further... doesn't hurt to ask. RwP

Leaving the Dealer with my new FJR, I was struck by an………..

You definitely had me with the post title... I was cringing as I opened your post. Huge relief that you were just yanking our chains (or more FJR-like, "shafts"?) Congrats on your purchase. As a newly-inaugurated AE owner myself, I second the call to 'practice' -- esp. on the slow parking lot...

    Taking Delivery of my FJR!

Wednesday was by far one of the best days of my life: I took delivery of my brand new 2009 FJR-1300AE. I had wanted to take pictures of the actual assembly of the bike, but as it turned out they did the assembly at the warehouse. So I only have pics of the dealer prep. The bike was purchased...
