How many use cruise above 80 mph?

Just got back from a run to Austin Texas the other day. I certainly spent more time with my cruise set over 80 than under it. But as has been pointed out, things are a little different here out West.

New 2017 FJR Announced, Raven it is!

I'm sooooo glad it's not red again. I'm trying to hold off until the next major change but regardless, the next time it is red, my checking account is dead! I've never had so many people fawn over any motorcycle I have ever owned.

    Key blank

I prefer to go the hardware store route. The solid metal key with no plastic on the head fits nicely in my wallet.

Seats Stock vs Sargent vs Corbin

I loved my Corbin on my Gen 1's, hated it on my Gen 2's but tolerated it for my wife who loved it. I've gone to the Sargent for my Gen 3 and I'm very happy with it. As I enter geezerhood my knees really appreciate being able to keep the ability to adjust the height.

    FJR vs K1600 ?

Personally, I don't really care what anyone else rides. When I moved to Arizona, My Realtor now best friend, came from a long line of BMW ownership but bought a Harley Street Glide Rushmore edition. He spent a fortune on it, upgrading the motor and customizing and while it sure looked cool, it...

    We don't get to decide....

The first time my old life long bud and I went to Utah on the bikes back in the 90's, he didn't want to take the time to stop at Bryce. We were heading up the Escalate to Torrey and he wanted to get in early. "Next time" he said. 8 months later, he was dead. He never saw Bryce and I never say...

How hard do you run your FJR, and how often?

The rev limiter is evil, it must be abused.

    Latest MCN review

They must have the "super secret special edition" version. All my FJRs have run on regular fuel.

    SOLD -- 2003 Yamaha FJR1300

It sure is me, I'm certainly still around, upright and taking nourishment. I don't know how many of us "originals" there are left, but you are certainly one of the few still riding your original FJR. I remember well when you painted it red, I told myself that someday I was gonna have a red FJR...

    SOLD -- 2003 Yamaha FJR1300

A storied piece of FJR history. If there Is ever an FJR museum, that bike should be on display at the front door. Sorry to see you guys selling it, but I know you are just evolving to the next chapter in your riding lives. Someone is going to get one very special motorcycle. GLWS!

Gen II to Gen III - changes ro rear sub fram/grab rail.

I have a spare grab rail from my 08 AE (funny thing as it's even the same color as your '15) that I used for when I was traveling and it's exactly the same as my 2014. In fact, thanks for the reminder as I have been intending to paint it and use it again. As for the sub frame, it looks the same...

    Pissed at Progressive

While I now live in Arizona with a presumed year round riding season, Progressive now wants to charge me $1800.00 a year for three bikes. (2014 FJR, 2015 KLR, 1983 V-65 Magna) I've never had a motorcycle claim on any insurance, over 30 years since I've had any claim on any vehicle insurance and...

    First real ride on AE

Great to see you got it out for a ride. That bike loves triple digits.

FJR again - this time AE

It was a great, well loved and cared for bike. It should give you many years and miles of smiles.

    2014ES Service Manual Up-To-Date?

Assembly/dis-assembly, installation/removal info and illustrations are found in chapter 4 for both the forks and rear shock with the 18 pages of electrical diag info being in the back of the manual. Looks pretty complete to me. At least, with what I have here in my book, I would tear into it.

    2014ES Service Manual Up-To-Date?

My manual, Yamaha part number LIT-11616-27-49 has 18 pages of ES info. Wiring diagram, trouble shooting etc. Does that help?

FJR Cost Over Time - Adjusted for Inflation

Very interesting reading. While the overall "cost" of the bike is relatively flat over the years, I just finished 12k miles in just under two months. the first 6 on my 08, the second on my 14ES. This is my 5th FJR and when I bought the 03 it was like a Cadillac compared to my V-65 Magna. This...

There really is a first time for everything

Congrats Fred, last Saturday I picked up my ES from my good friends Desert Valley Powersports in Prosser Washington. Vin #454, apparently at a point in time they were a lot physically closer to each other than they are today. After years of saying if they ever built it in red I would have one...

    2014ES Side Cases modded/farkled

The beauty of individual choices. On my 4 FJRs I've both removed and not removed the reflectors. They are ugly for sure and I'm still not yet convinced they do a real valuable function. That said, where I live now, ANY enchancement to visability in any fashion or at any odd angle or lighting is...

What is market value for quick sale? 09 11k

The value of any vehicle is ultimately determimed by the desire of the buyer to purchase in combination of the desire of the seller to sell. It can be completely different just a relatively few miles away. The longer one is willing to wait, the higher the likelyhood one is likely to get what...
