Because Yamaha wants you to buy the accessory Touring windshield. And I thought the FJR was a touring bike. Long term reliability and service cost is never mentioned in these comparisons. My K1600 was anything but reliable. I don't miss it.

Congrats! The wing's engine is automotive smooth.. I just never liked the bulk of the bike.. I hope you like your new ride as much as I like mine. I'm so glad I made the move over to an FJR :D

To the OP, the info is correct. I purchased a Gen 3 FJR and the dealer went to great lengths to explain how important the red key is and how it's used to program new keys. I never understood why Yamaha removes the immoblizer from US bikes??

How about that curved piece of trim under the gas tank.. either that, or the piece above the tail section... The mini saddle bag covers are painted in the same color as the rest of the bike, i'm not sure why you'd need something bigger ?

I understand what you're saying.. some things are easier said than done... If you look at the saddle bag guards on the GL1800 Goldwing, they are of a similar design but the hoop is horizontal, instead of vertical, as with the above design. Visually, the horizontal hoop is not as "heavy"...

Thanks for the update... I'm not crazy about the look of the lower brace of the panniers guards... Will the finished products be produced with stainless steel tubing?

I was surprised to learn that the saddle bags are not included in the shipping crate with the bike and are shipped separately. Mine arrived a few days after the bike was delivered to the dealer.

I prefer the curved corners as well. It would be very helpful if you are able to post a picture from the front of the bike to see how far the bar sticks out past the fairing. thank you. It looks like it can be installed without removing the fairing, which is a plus. If I were to make one...
