    First Gear Jacket leaks

I use the NikWash & NikWax on my Kili 4.0 & HT Overpants and to date have had no problems with the leakage. I have been through some real frog-stranglers - I can't keep anything in the cargo pockets because they can & do fill up with water regardless of how well I think I've secured the velcro...

    butt pad or seat

How many miles do you have on the stock seat? As said, everyone is different - but I was able to put 400+ miles a day on my stock seat before I started to get uncomfortable. I personally do not like gel seats or inserts. they tend to hold heat in the summer time and become stiff and cold in...

    1st trip

Be safe and enjoy your trip. I haven't put 500 miles on my bike since I got the seat from you. Plan on taking care of that the middle of July when I take a trip to MS.

    Base Stickers?

I also made a plate from thin stainless, cut it to be just larger than the stickers and drilled a hole in it. Mounted it to the left fork reflector mount. Sorry, but can't post pics while at sea.

    More than one bike?

I sold my 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Classic to get my '07 FJR. No comparison in the riding styles/comfort - I can't see myself going back to a cruiser for any type of distance riding. With that said, I do see a dual-sport in my near future.

    Well It Finally Happened

Those clear films would not have been a help to me. My "scratches" are more like "gouges". The films do fine at preventing light contact (knees/belt buckle rubbing against tank) from causing scratches, and may even work to some extent at preventing rock chips/road debris from scratching, but...

What do you do with your riding suit when off the bike?

I wear a two piece suit but I have no problems fitting both pieces in my Givi trunk. My helmet then goes in a sidecase. I usually only stow the jacket, though. I'm also one of those people that usually wears the pants around the restraunt.

    Well It Finally Happened

Been there - done that! But mine was in rush hour, bumper-to-bumper, stop-and-go traffic on the Interstate that runs through town. Oh yeah, and it was raining. Get the sliders. If I had not had a dash shelf I don't believe I would have broken the mirror (glass part). As for the bags, they...

    500 mile update

I am getting about 200 miles to a tank of gas with a mix of 75mph Interstae driving and stop & go, bumper-to-bumper on my 25 mile ride to work. Send your seat to Spencer (greatdaytoride.com) for a little work. Night and day difference from stock.

    Zumo 660 first impressions

I was banned from one of the .45 Auto forums when I posted to a guy telling him his older model Colt 1911 was only worth something if he wanted to keep it (he wanted to trade it for a Bushmaster AR). After they deleted my first post (accusing me of trying to circumvent the rules for...

FJR first bike out of 6 I ever dropped!!

BTDT! Stop & go on the Interstate, rush hour, rain, uphill merge ramp. I was "catapulted" off as well. Oh well, live, learn, & ride another day.

    Windshield or Helmet

I had a stock shield & traded out for an OEM touring shield. Wearing a Shoei Multi-Tec & a Shoei RF1000 - both helmets are loud with both shields. I get no buffeting to speak of with either helmet or either shield, but I will not ride without earplugs.

    Shoei Pinlock Anti-Fog Shield

I've been wearing my Shoei Multi-Tec with pin-lock shield since last September and I absolutely love it. I keep a smoke insert in my helmet and carry a clear insert with me just in case I get caught out after dark - it's much easier than carrying a spare shield.

Military Sport Bike Rider (MSRC) class

I took it earlier this year and had no problems, either. As mentioned, I did wish I was on a lighter bike, but... Coming from a cruiser, with no experience with sport bikes, the class opened my eyes to a few things in regards to handling. Speaking only for the Navy, but a base can't make that...

    First trip

Curtis, Congrats on the new ride. Let me add the recommendation for quality frame sliders. I've dropped mine on both sides and the sliders have saved me mucho money. Drop one was on the left side - as my daughter was dismounting she slid forward from the pillion seat and the bike rolled off...

    Garmin Zumo is the Shizzle

Because with the pollen in the air right now, coupled with all the rain, I've been getting a nice green "mud". Just my personal preference.

    Close Call

Yep - it happens fast. Glad you're ok. I'm still trying to totally understand what happened a couple weeks ago when I dropped mine in stop & go traffic. Uphill right hand turn in the rain, travelling less than 5 mph and coming to a stop I downshifted from second to first but got caught in...

    Garmin Zumo is the Shizzle

I've been looking at a Zumo to replace my 2720 but I hate these friggin' touch screens! In the cage they're fine, but on a motorcycle that gets ridden regardless of weather it's a pain in the ass to clean the screen while the unit is in use. I really want a 276C, but I would miss the street...

    Seat mods done by greatdaytoride.com

My longest day ride with my Spencer'ed seat was ~400 miles and IMO it was a vast improvement over OEM. With that said, I couldn't pass up a deal for a Bill Mayer saddle. I'm about to get underway for a few weeks, but I hope to put a few miles on it when I get back.

    G2 and Spenser seat mod

Sounds good! I put 400 miles on my Spencer'd seat today and really have no complaints. I have a sheepskin as well, but my daughter was using it after the first 200 miles.
